Fandom: SPOOKS (MI-5) Pairing: None Length: one shot, 1500 words Author on LJ: kittyfisherAuthor Website: none Why this must be read: Harry Pearce and Lucas North: two incredibly complex characters with an even more complex dynamic. This story takes a good, long look at both characters in the early days of series 7, as Lucas adjusts to life back in London and Harry comes to terms with the loss of Adam and the return of a Lucas he no longer knows. In a short space, this story captures the essence of both characters, as well as the history that both divides them and brings them together. Excerpt: “Come on, Harry. Let me get you home.”“‘A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within.’” Suddenly leaning forward, he almost spat the next words. “Come on, Lucas, have I let the enemy in? Have you breached the gate?”“Isn’t it lovely how a classical education always delivers the apposite quote?”“And teaches how to answer a question with a question.”The Pillars of the City

Fandom: STARSKY & HUTCH Pairing: None Length: 9,700 Author on LJ: ultrapsychobrat Author's Website: http://www.starskyhutcharchive.net/viewuser.php?uid=86Why this must be read: I read this classic S&H story for the first time very recently. To say that I was immediately taken with the premise and the skillful execution by this talented author would be an understatement. Here, a newly transferred officer observes the S&H guys, and we tag along, seeing events and perceptions from his point of view. What emerges is a powerful interpretation of the guys, what they stand for to one another, and how this special friendship/partnership looks from the outside. There is an edginess to the story - making it the kind of tale that lingers after you've relished the very last line. Please do yourself a favor - stop over and pick it up for your S&H summer reading. I am convinced you will find it quite remarkable, and very possibly, unforgettable. Once more, thanks for cramming into this Squashy car (really, Hutch - is leaving such a jumble for us truly necessary?) and taking the S&H June ride with me! I am so glad to have you along! Fandom: SHERLOCK Pairing: Gen: Mrs. Hudson, Jim Moriarty, John Watson, Sherlock Holmes Length: 8000 words Author on LJ: carolyn_claireAuthor Website: Link to some of her stories on LJWhy this must be read:Because it features BAMF Mrs. Hudson, that’s why. Housekeeping was written in early 2011, but fits eerily well with Mrs. Hudson’s “A Scandal in Belgravia” characterization. Mrs. Hudson’s backstory and POV of several of Sherlock’s main characters is incredibly well done. This story is awesome and slyly funny. It is also creepy and disturbing. If you like fic with a dark edge you should definitely check this out. Housekeeping

AND THEN I VANISHED FOR A WEEK, I am so sorry you guys! I will try to post daily until the end of the month to make up for it ;_;! Fandom: SUPER JUNIOR Pairing: Leeteuk/Kangin Length: ~9,500w Author on LJ: ficcyAuthor Website: See above Why this must be read: I absolutely adore post-apocalyptic stories, but I am terrified by zombies. This means that it's pretty hard for me to get my post-apocaptic fix—but this fic delivers in grand style! Not only is this one of my favorite AU genres, but it also chooses a really fascinating and mysterious premise to execute. It's inventive and softly insightful while maintaining an "innocent" feel. Be sure to scroll back up to the top of part 1 to get to part 2! *Comprehension notes: Minho is from the boy band "SHINee," which is also signed with SM Ent (Super Junior's parent company), and is sort of infamous for fawning over his "hyungs," or superiors in the company. Midsummer's Day now (well, in my book anyway) and although there must be a Summer Solstice fic out there I couldn't find it. However, don't despair, we're off to Salisbury Plain and the mysterious Stonehenge.
Fandom: THE PROFESSIONALS Pairing: Bodie/Doyle Length: 68k Author on LJ: byslantedlight Author Website: Wonderful website - Palely Loitering, with loads of resources plus all the author's fic. Why this must be read: Slanted Light is one of my favourite authors, and this is a wonderful story that combines CI5 action with insights into the relationship between Bodie and Doyle. Our lads are sharing a caravan and waiting for the Winter Solstice, in the company of some strange people. It's Bodie who is displaying unexpected undercover skills, this time, while Doyle puts in some thought on their relationship. Enjoy - I did!
