Fandom: GENERATION KILL
Pairing: Brad Colbert/Nate Fick
Length: 2930
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] d_i_
Author Website: AO3
Why this must be read:

Nate's often portrayed as unfailingly earnest, which he is, but he's also got a wicked deadpan and doesn't take shit from anyone. So I love it when writers let him mess with people, as he does here in pretending to be a virgin. Brad is appropriately dubious. Porn - and dirty talk! - ensues. And it's awesome.

"Corporal, as I was dedicated to the service of St. George at the age of nine and am as pure now as I was that day, I have no such tale to share. Briefing tomorrow morning at 0800. Good night, Gents." He put the empty cup back into Rudy's slack hand, and walked away.

"So that's it," Ray said after three seconds of bewildered silence. "He's the only officer who hasn't been fucked stupid yet."

12:49 pm Gordian by Fresne (explicit)
Fandom: SHERLOCK BBC
Pairing: Sherlock Holmes/John Watson
Length: 15954 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] fresne
Author Website: fresne at AO3
Why this must be read:

I never really got the Omegaverse. Impossible biology, gender issues, consent issues, massive porn, OMG! But Fresne tells an involving tale built on a carefully thought out, detailed framework (like vampire stories details of the Omegaverse vary from author to author). Written in an idiosyncratic staccato style that drives the story along like the rapid fire workings of Sherlock's brain "Gordian" grabs you by the heart and gonads.

"Stars in a Phyrgian Sky" is written in the same universe but a different time-line. It isn't a sequel, but it is equally fine and the last chapter contains interesting detailed notes on the world-building involved (I advise reading it after reading the story).

There is a podfic of "Gordian" too. I love podfics :-)

Take a sniff... )

Summary: Jack and Sam get captured by the worst bad guys ever.

Why this must be read:
One of the things I loved about SG-1 was the humor.  It was rarely over the top, and the show could be very serious as well, but they weren't afraid to poke fun at themselves.  This fic is one of the best of that tradition.  It's a realistic situation, and the humor flows naturally from the personalities involved.  It will make you laugh, guaranteed.  I love how Jack and Sam interact and the friendship between them (unsurprising, as this was written for the [livejournal.com profile] jacksamfriends ficathon.
