02:21 am Perfect Fit Series by Legion (mature)
Fandom: THE SENTINEL
Pairing: Jim/Blair
Length: 31,870
Author on LJ: Not Known
Author Website: Legion's Hidey Hole
Why this must be read:

Because sometimes you just want something hot.

The hands on Blair's thighs slowly tightened to fists, but that was the only reaction Jim gave as he considered. Finally, he said in a completely empty voice, "I'm a sexual deviant."
Whatever Blair had expected to hear, that wasn't it. "As in homosexual, as opposed to bi?" he asked uncertainly.
"As in departing from the established sexual norm for an adult bisexual male," Jim said in the same emotionless monotone. "As in what usually gets other men turned on doesn't work for me."

This is a series of five stories which explore a possible reason why Jim has been reluctant to pursue a relationship with Blair: Jim has a kink; a need for control. It's D/s of a sort but Jim has a rather specific need for control and the series explores Blair's reaction to that and how they deal with it. Legion is a fantastic writer and I have enjoyed all her stories and this one is no exception.

Fandom: HAWAII FIVE-0 (NEW)
Pairing: Steve/Danny
Length: 200 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] hotel_window
Author Website: Fic tag on LJ
Why this must be read:

Author's Summary : Danny's phone is trying to tell him something.

'Cause this is one of funniest things I've read in H50 fandom. It's short, crack-filled, and just gut-busting hilarious. Danno, auto-correct, and his Five-0 ohana who knows better.... XD

08:52 pm Insurance by Quidamling (PG)
Fandom: TRANSFORMERS
Pairing: Will Lennox/Sarah Lennox, Annabelle, Ironhide/(Ratchet, mentioned)
Length: short

Author Website: HERE
Why this must be read: It’s just a short , bitter-sweet story, that makes you happy and sad at the same time. It’s not easy to be a soldier, even if you are made of metal, but it’s also not easy to be a mate of a solder.

“You’ve put a lot of thought into your own mortality, Lennox,” he rumbled tightly.

The Ranger took a deep breath, leaning into the spot on Ironhide’s leg that Sarah had recently vacated. “It comes with the job, mech.” He scratched a little too idly at his ear, but Ironhide could sense the simmering tang of adrenaline and stress hormones increasing around Will throughout the conversation. “I know the more bars on my shoulder the better my odds, and we’ve not lost men like in World War II in decades. But fighting giant aliens is not safe by any means. I’m delusional if I pretend every mission’s going to go smooth.”

“If it comes to that, I will ensure they are safe in your stead,” Ironhide murmured.

09:52 pm A New Low by rosemaryandrue (PG-13)
I was recently reminded about this gem by someone on merlin_finders and thought I'd rec it here.

Fandom:
MERLIN
Pairing: Arthur/Merlin
Wordcount: 15000
Author on LJ: rosemaryandrue
Summary: Merlin has a diabetic emergency while stuck in an elevator with Arthur. After essentially saving his life, Arthur is suddenly very interested in Merlin's health.
Why this must be read: Omg, Arthur's intense concern over Merlin's health is priceless, as is the fact that Merlin absolutely has no idea what to do with it. This is a story I like to go back and read again and again. You'll want to bookmark it.

10:29 pm What We Bury by Ridley C James (R by reccer)
Fandom: HAWAII FIVE-0 (NEW)
Pairing: could be read as really strong gen bromance or light Steve/Danny slash
Length: 28,977 words
Author on LJ: unknown
Author Website: Fanfic.net
Why this must be read:

Author's Summary: A wrongful shooting takes a treacherous turn when a father's grief pushes him to seek vengeance on Steve McGarrett and the Five-0 Team.

This is a very moving story that ties in so many elements I enjoy: h/c, family, volatile emotions, casefic, and holding onto hope with both fists. I really enjoyed how the author made the characters come alive with fantastic character voices and extremely vivid emotions. I could literally feel Steve's and Gracie's stubborn belief that no matter the prognosis, Danny was going to turn out OK at the end. The casefic portion was short and really on the sideline of the h/c portions, but the whole showdown in the hospital room had me on the edge of my seat, let me tell ya. What this fic really boils down to is how close these people are with each other, the everlasting hope that a loved one will come through tragedy ultimately OK, and a wonderful support system of family and friends.
