Fandom: TEEN WOLF Pairing: Derek/Stiles Length: 7437 words Author on LJ: lady_ragnellAuthor Website: AO3Summary: In a world where Derek lets Scott kill the Alpha and get the cure, he has to figure out how to rebuild his life, with help from Stiles. Why this must be read: To the best of my knowledge, this is a one-of-a-kind fic. The idea that Scott gets to kill Peter and gets 'cured' isn't a very widespread one, probably because it eliminates a lot of drama possibilities. (Plus, poor Derek. :() As such, this isn't a very dramatic or action-packed story, but at the same time it's one of my favourites in this fandom because it's just so... realistic. It's a simple portrayal of life for Derek if he'd stayed beta (and the only werewolf) in Beacon Hills and how he rebuilds his life and it works. There's some Stiles thrown into the mix but there's also a lot of character study of Derek, which is something that's sadly pretty rare. A lot of the times, authors portray Derek as awkward and faily which is understandable but not doing his character justice I don't think. This fic definitely does Derek justice, and let's be real, the Derek/Stiles interaction doesn't hurt. ;) ( Stiles shows up again two days later. He smells like the hospital again. Derek doesn’t bother waiting for him to shout, this time. )go home, or make a home - Music: Theophilus London - Wine and Chocolates (Andhim Remix) | Powered by Last.fm

Fandom: INCEPTION Pairing: Arthur/Eames Length: 10529 Author on LJ: the_moonmothAuthor Website: Ao3Why this must be read: "We should probably go soon, anyway," she says. "There's an unconscious man in the ladies' bathroom with 'wanker' written on his forehead – people are going to start asking questions."I love a good genderbend, and this fic certainly doesn’t disappoint. Told from the perspective of (always)female-Eames mostly during the period of time she (and Arthur) are in Australia, gathering up intel on Fisher. And the character construction is absolutely brilliant. Eames is still flirty and brilliant and charming, frighteningly competent with her forgery skills, her military background, and the ease and naturalism she has moving through life. Fandom: AVENGERS Pairing: Tony/Loki Length: 45786 Author on LJ: Author Website: Ao3Why this must be read: In which Loki and Toni try to save the world, Steve is obnoxious, Clint has no patience for artsy movies and there are cupcakes. And issues. There is an awesomely done podfic for this (hosted on the main fic page) for those who enjoy podfic/want this fic on the go. Guess I'm posting genderbend fic today. Tony (Antonia) Stark, always a girl. Loki, female for the time being during this fic but male before / after the events in this story. A fantastically constructed Tony-POV where gender isn't totally irrelevant, but takes away nothing from her genius, self-destructive, snarky, insanity. Tony hangs out with her awesome bros, Bruce and Clint, unravels science and magic with Loki, plans to help save the world, and deals with issues that can crop up living in a tower full of superheroes. Pepper’s relationship with Tony seems adorable and flirty, Natasha isn't going to be her best friend just because they’re the only girls living in the Tower full time, Thor is loud and boisterous, and Steve just does not get a hint, then takes it badly. Coulson, Natasha, and Clint have a complicated relationship happening, but Clint hates their taste in movies. Loki gains Tony’s trust by not poisoning cupcakes. Everything is science and magic, and things may hurt for a while, but it’s only for a short while. Loki and Toni’s Excellent Adventure in World Saving

A sunny Sunday morning (at least in this part of the world), and time to take the van out for a little spin. We start in Ireland, where Doyle has run into a bit of trouble, but we're soon back in London, where Doyle - and Bodie - has to deal with the repercussions of what could have been a very nasty affair...
Fandom: THE PROFESSIONALS Pairing: Bodie/Doyle Length: 39k Author on LJ: not known Author Website: on the Circuit ArchiveWhy this must be read: In places this is a very sweet story, but what I like about it is the concept, and the sly references to other ... things *g*. I enjoy Bodie's unexpected skill, for example, which has its roots (hee!) in fact, and the reference to a particular singer of the time had me giggling. The dialogue has great moments too - here, try this, a snippet when Doyle wants to know what's up with Bodie:
"Still haven't told me, Bodie."
Ray's RT crackled. "3.7, 4.5, report to Paddington station at once," Murphy snapped. "Hostage situation in progress. Ten children being held captive. Alpha One en route."
Oh thank GOD. Bodie fishtailed the Capri and screeched off toward the evildoers even as Doyle got his armaments in order.
So - go read and enjoy *g*Permanent Change

Fandom: THE SENTINEL Pairing: Jim-Blair Length: 25350 words Author on LJ: not known Author Website: http://wolfpupsden.skeeter63.org/fidusamicus.shtml Why this must be read: - Blair has been visiting an old friend; and then Jim gets a phone message to say that Blair is dead. Drowned. This story tells us a lot about Blair. It shows how people react to him - both old friends and people he has only just met. But more than that - it shows how Blair reacts to Jim. Welcome to another round of Stargate ficcage. I thought I'd try something different this month and go with shining the light on some minor characters. From the secondary reoccurring people we all know and love to the truly obscure (Who?!?!?!), hopefully you'll enjoy these fics that highlight them and bring them to vivid life. So strap in and lets get this van on the road! Fandom: STARGATE SG-1 Pairing: none Length: ~1,500 words Author on LJ: skydiver119Author Website: Emerald CityWhy this must be read: Author's Summary : The CIA has a memorial wall...does the SGC?GENERAL GEORGE HAMMONDThis man has been an integral part of the Stargate program from almost the get go. He's the grandfatherly head of the SGC, it's military leader who knows what it takes to run a program like this and still stay diplomatic about it. We don't get to see how he deals with those he has lost under his command much in canon. That is what makes this fic so endearing and just felt in the gut. The reader gets a real sense of how deeply Hammond feels the loss of each and every soul, civilian or soldier, alien or human. His sense of responsibility to them shines out as we see how each member of the SGC is remembered. Denise really knows how to draw the reader in with her sparse but extremely vivid writing style. You'll feel this one long after reading. But Who's Counting?

Fandom: MEN'S PROFESSIONAL TENNIS RPS Pairing: Novak Djokovic/Andy Murray Length: ~20,000 words Author on LJ: halotolerantAuthor website: halotolerant on AO3Why this must be read: You may have heard that something remarkable happened today in the world of tennis. :) Even though I've already recced this author this month, there was only one fic that could be recced today. It had to incorporate both the fact that Djokovic and Murray had this big moment while the possibility of altering history. "Wake Up Married" trope never looked so good in any fandom as it does in this story. Something occurs the day before the 2012 US Open final and, instead of waking up to engage in the routines needed for this match, Novak finds himself in bed with his opponent, Andy. Both of them are still in the mindset of playing the final in New York but they're in a run-down loft in England, they're not tennis players but they did have a big wedding. As Novak tries to figure out what happens in their alternate reality, Andy begins to realize the close quarters would be his worst nightmare in their original reality. The reader falls in love with this new world, one that actually would have made them both happy, then has a kicker in the end as to why this happened that is so ridiculously precious.
