I was initially reluctant to read this fic, mostly because I ship the hell out of M/Bond (my absolute het OTP), but I have to admit I love this story. It is part of a wider series based in the Skyfall fandom but it can be read entirely on its own. The primary focus is on Bond/Q as they are the main characters in the story arc, but there are plenty of lovely Finch Reese interactions. Be warned though it is not only a crossover it also has supernatural elements.

Why this must be read: Person of Interest has generated a lot of AUs, some more successful than others, this is one of the best. Don't be put of by the fact that it is an AU. It is a wonderful fusion of Randall Garrett's Lord Darcy Series and Person of Interest. I found that it didn't matter that I knew nothing about the Lord Darcy series, killalla manages to spin a very compelling tale, that is excellently paced and very much in character. My only complaint is that it was not longer.

Why this must be read:As I have already posted a fic rec tonight I wanted to mix it up a bit by posting about this tumblr. A huge part of Person of Interest is the clothing. Reese is known as "The man in the suit" by most everyone during season 1 and indeed through season 2 as he is being pursued. Finch has an extensive and impressive wardrobe as does Zoe, Carter is thankfully usually dressed practically and it lends to her overall character and even Bear's vest gets a mention. All this leads me to Irrelevant Style, which is a tumblr dedicated to what the characters would wear, it is a visual feast and the posters really get it right.

Why this must be read: I was so happy when I saw that xparrot was writing PoI, as I have been a fan of her work in other fandoms for several years.
I don't read Carters POV's very often but xparrot is an author I totally trust to deliver a good piece of writing. This story goes from 0 to 60kmh so fast, much like the show and Carters reactions ring true, you do get a sense of who she is, mother, cop, friend, skeptic, negotiator and cat wrangler, throughout the telling.

Kmmerc is a new writer, inspired by the new fandom of “Person of Interest” and she seems to write nearly constantly, taking the reader into history and forward in time, posting WIPs and shorter completed works frequently. This is one of her newest efforts and it’s a sweet little character study of Reese needing something to do with his hands when he’s not using them to hold guns or punch out bad guys. Inspired by the “thousand cranes” legend of making cranes to get a wish, Kmmerc’s Reese starts folding old newspapers that remind him of past pain and moves on to find other types of paper in a journey of healing. The author skillfully weaves the crane folding through well-remembered cases he and Finch have worked on and as hope builds in him, the cranes change from sad and dead looking to cheerful. At the end, we see that Reese’s wish is going to come true. This story shows Kmmerc’s growing skill and is completely enjoyable.

John Reese wants to know where Harold Finch keeps going when he leaves for mysterious appointments. And what he finds out serves to get the characters together.

The house from the title is the location. Inside, men like Finch pay for sex with other men. When Reese realizes this, he asks for “what my friend had” – which interestingly turns out to be a man who very much resembles Reesse himself.

This story is a hot little turn on a somewhat familiar trope. Lenore handles it with excellent writing and keeps the characters true. And that’s why it must be read!

Why this must be read:

This story is one of those that just feels right. It was one of the first I ever read in the fandom, after having viewed and episode or two and looking for slash fic. The author has tagged it as “future fic”, written early in the first season of the show and the title refers to the four hundred thirty-seventh Number that Reese and Finch are helping. X-art sits us down toward the end of the plot situation and we finish up the case through Reese’s eyes, after which he heads home to be with Finch.

Canonically, neither Reese nor the viewers know where Finch actually lives, but since this fic is set in the future with an established relationship, we do apparently know about Finch’s living situation. And Reese is living with him. They are portrayed here as having recently become a couple, with comfortable routines yet who still have surprises for each other. Finch is building a room for Reese to have target practice and Reese is teaching Finch how to break into a safe. They share dinner, some banter and lovemaking before sleep after Reese has helped yet another Number.

When I encountered this story, it whetted my appetite for more fic in this universe and I often return to it, finding it a sweet, secure, welcoming slice of the life the two main characters of the show share.

On “Person of Interest” Jim Caviezel portrays ex-CIA operative John Reese as very soft spoken. His voice is quiet, low and very sexy. He plays Reese as in control at nearly all times. He doesn’t shout or yell but he gets people to do what he wants, either by physical persuasion or the deadly calm voice with which he speaks. The only times we’ve seen him raise his voice is under extreme duress when his boss, Harold Finch, was missing.

Esteefee builds on this idea, asking the question of whether or not Reese would be equally quiet in the bedroom. The story opens with the characters having already started. Reese knows Finch wants something from him, but he’s having trouble figuring it out because the stimulation Finch is providing is making it very difficult for him to think.

There are some dom/sub undertones in the fic, with Reese open to giving Finch whatever he might desire.

That wasn't an issue. John would give the man anything—he owed Finch everything up to and including his life.
John had figured Finch's request was connected to wanting to take control for once; that Finch was tired of being the one with limitations when it came to their time in the sack. Or maybe Finch wanted to hurt John a little, give someone else a taste of what he was feeling with the chronic pain of his injuries. If so, that was fine, too. John could take it.</>

But far from wanting to hurt Reese, Finch is all about the pleasure and it’s as obvious to the reader as it is confusing to Reese what Finch wants from him. Perfectly in character, delightfully hot and very loving, this fic gives the reader a couple of intriguing surprises along the way as well.

Why this must be read:

When Harold Finch was kidnapped by nefarious hacker Root in the season one cliffhanger episode, John Reese did everything in his power to find and rescue his employer. Dien wrote one of the best and most touching of the follow up stories I’ve read. It combines excellent characterization, h/c and the definite feeling of love that Reese has for Finch.

“Troubleshooting” is actually a missing scene, starting right after Reese finds Finch in the train station where Root had taken him. Reese spirits him out of the station and onto a train heading north, still tense and anxious after his forty eight hour search.

Finch slept all the way to Baltimore. Reese gave himself a migraine with tension, with waiting: waiting for the conductors to squint at his tickets and say there was a problem (there wasn't), waiting at every stop for police officers to board the train, waiting for the announcement over the intercom that the train needed to halt, waiting for an excuse to launch himself back into action again. He studied the window, the frame and the emergency release. He could carry Finch easily, he was sure; if they had to, the window was a feasible escape route.

Dien’s Reese cares deeply for Finch, but hesitates to show his emotions or his feelings, understanding that Finch is also reticent in that regard. But the story ends with the reader realizing that Finch appreciates and cares just as deeply for Reese.

Hi, I'm April, back to rec for a new fandom this time. Person of Interest is well into its second exciting season and the fandom is growing with new authors, new fics and vids and art showing up every day. There are plenty of genres of fic in this fandom, but as I'm primarily a slasher, I'll mostly be recc'ing slash fic, with some gen friendship thrown in.

Why this must be read:

This is one of the longest POI fics out there and it's one that propelled me headlong into the fandom. I discovered the show in July last summer and went searching for fic right away. I found this story being posted as a WIP on pofinterest_fic. I soon got caught up in it, then waited with everyone else as the author posted a new chapter each Friday. I hated to see it end, but now that it's finished, it can be recc'ed as one of the best POI fics out there.

Tags on AO3 list it as containing angst, romance, torture, psychological trauma, and drama. For me, it has everything: physical and psychological torture, hurt/comfort and sex. Both main characters are abducted, one after the other, by nemesis Mark Snow who wants information about what they are doing. Finch won't give up Reese's whereabouts and Reese won't divulge information about Finch's Machine and what they do. Following Snow's painful persuasive measures, there's lovely hurt/comfort and their relationship grows as they get past Finch's paranoia and Reese's darkness. The Machine is a major character and the direction the author takes that aspect of the story is just as fascinating.

Mark Snow was Reese's boss in the CIA and started looking for him during the show's first season. In the episode "Number Crunch" Snow found him, only to have his operative shoot Reese with a high powered rifle. Finch came to the rescue and Reese survived to help the irrelevants another day and only the viewers knew what happened to Snow after that. Recently, we saw what "really" happened to Snow in canon, but while this novel diverges from the events of second season, it holds up wonderfully as an alternate way things could have gone.

The characters of Fusco and Carter are present, as well as Dr. Megan Tillman from the well-loved episode, "Cura Te Ipsum."

The writing is excellent, the plot thorough and convincing and overall, the story is just plain satisfying, especially when the relationship between Reese and Finch is finally consumated.

Why this vid kicks ass: The editing on this vid is amazing. It is one of the few vids I have seen where the voice over works because the audio is synced with the background music instead of just muting one or the other as often happens.
