Why this must be read:
Orlando is *snicker* hot for Elijah. Very interesting. So off-the-wall that it's something that might very well have happened IRL.

Author Website: http://www.mediageek.ca/arsenicjade
Why this must be read:

This story is both ouchy and sweet, revolves around shared birthdays, and involves a threesome that doesn't feel contrived. Also, this Nick is one of those that just grabs my heart and hangs on. Joey is also phenomenal, and that doesn't happen for me often.

In the words of the author: Joey and Nick share a birthday.

Wondering what you're going to do today? Why not spend the morning/day/week reading one of the real classics of the Profiler!Mulder genre. 500K of angst, conspiracy (with a small 'c') and mystery. An old friend of Mulder's commits suicide, but was there something sinister about it?

06:38 pm Approaching the Bench by Jo March and Ryo Sen (PG)
Fandom: THE WEST WING
Pairing: Josh/Donna, mentions Donna/Cliff
Author Website: The Jo & Ryo Collective
Why this must be read:

The very first story I ever read in this fandom was Jo and Ryo's "A Winning Strategy." It was everything that I wanted in my first taste of the West Wing fandom, and I think it took me a little under two weeks to read every single story on the site. I devoured their writing the way I devoured the first season on DVD, voraciously. Jo and Ryo write the characters like I want them to be, oftentimes with dialog that matches the actual show.

"Approaching the Bench" is set in the middle of "War Crimes," and deals with one of the great WW fanfic conventions - The Diary. Oh, the diary, which spawned gazillions of "I did it because I love you, stupid" pieces of fanfiction.

This story isn't that, thankfully. It has a Josh who wants to fix the situation, but also wants to fix an inherent flaw that he sees in Donna. It has a Donna who realizes that she can't make the situation better on her own, but who hates that she needs Josh to pull her through. It's also got some delicious Josh/Donna tension - not the sexy kind, the kind where everyone is struggling really hard to figure out why things that shouldn't matter so much do.

"I don't want to be the sort of person who lies automatically."

Why this must be read:

First of all, I love the premise of this fic. It is written from the point of view of Dr. Gary Thomas, a family therapist the Cohens have sought out in the aftermath of Oliver debacle. The story is told in the form of session transcripts and chart notes, and is a meticulous exploration of the family dynamics between Sandy, Kirsten, Seth, and Ryan. So much care and thought has gone into fleshing out the characters from the show that by the end of the fic, you almost feel like you know them intimately. Especially poignant is the growth of the relationship between Ryan and Kirsten. It's lovely to see the way the author has them progress from wariness of each other to a more trusting bond. Another really nice thing about this fic is it's length; it's a story you can really sink your teeth into. Completely fulfilling on multiple levels.
