08:05 am Trade by Kitty Fisher (NC-17)
Fandom: SMALLVILLE
Pairing: Lex/Clark
Author on LJ:[livejournal.com profile] kittyfisher
Author Website:Kitty's house of pleasure and pain
Why this must be read:

This was part of the Nerodi's historical challenge. I like well thought out AU. Historical one are difficult to pull off but this one does. Set between 0 AD and 300 AD ( my guess). Barbarian Clark and Greek Lex. I'm currently reading Lindsey Davis' series set in 71 AD. Roman empire, British Isles, barbarians at the gate.

The setting is not very detailed but I "got" the feeling they were in the Northern part of Europe heading toward the North sea. Furleather!Clark makes quite a nice picture.

03:01 pm Hard-Boiled vs. Sunny-Side-Up by Yahtzee (PG)
Fandom: ALIAS

Author's Website: The Chicago Loop
Pairing: None really - Marshall, Sark, and spoilers for Episode 4.1
Why this must be read:

The very moment the 4th season opener ended, I thought, "Okay, who is going to write the fic about the eggs?" Thank God Yahtzee took this idea and ran with it. Sharp dialogue and excellent characterization aside, this is laugh-out-loud funny. I couldn't imagine this moment going any differently. A great read. :)

04:30 pm Teacher's Pet by Wintertime (PG-13)
Fandom: CSI
Pairing: Grissom/Sara
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] always_winter
Author Website: Follow the Shoe
Why this must be read: You know those stories that take characters in your favorite shows and stick them in high school? I bet you didn't think that they could be done well. For the longest time, I didn't either, but as it turns out: we're both dead wrong.

Because, you see, Wintertime has taken what usually turns into cliche-ridden nasty gook and made it something beautiful. The characterization is as true as ever; the prose is light enough to allow it - quite a long piece - to be read in a sitting; Geeklove scenes of note from the show are woven in seamlessly, and to make good sense within their new context.

And to top that off, the story is hilarious on a level I've never seen a highschool fic be. Greg, in particular, is spot-on in all his labratesque glory.

07:21 pm Raven by Ice Crystals (PG-13)
Fandom: THE OC
Pairing: Ryan/Theresa Ryan/Marissa
Author on LJ: N/A
Author Website: other stories here
Why this must be read: This is probably one of my favorite AU fics. It presents a stunningly interesting Theresa, one that Ryan cannot resist. Ryan must face repercussions after having betrayed Theresa years ago.

The writing is thick with prose, completely enchanting and leaves you incredibly hypnotize by the characters attraction and longing for one another. You’re also left with the feeling that no matter how much Theresa loves Ryan she feels more empowered when she is not with him.

07:25 pm King Magneto: Things Heard and Thought Police by PoiLass(PG-13)
Fandom: X-MEN COMICS
Pairing: none (could be read as Magneto/Xavier if you turn your head and squint)
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] poilass
Author Website: Quite Possibly Poi
Why this must be read: Current comics continuity has shown us just what Magneto can do with a little power (say, sovereignty over the entire nation of Genosha?), but this fic talks about what Magneto can do with the world.

I just get all tingly when Magneto puts on his world domination hat... )

09:32 pm Scarlet Ribbons by Jessi Albano (PG-13)
Fandom: WEISS KREUZ
Pairing: Schuldig/Aya-chan
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] inconvenient_lj
Author Website: Inconvenient Creatures

Why this must be read:

It's a rather unlikely pairing, and yet the author makes it work beautifully. The story is set after the end of the anime series, with Aya-chan living with the Weiß boys in the flowershop, but intertwined with flashbacks to the time when Aya-chan was in her coma, where she mentally "met" Schuldig.

I like the observations Aya-chan makes about her brother and his friends, but the best parts are the flashbacks, with their fairy-tale-ish mood, that manage to make Aya-chan into a likeable character even tho she doesn't know who she is.

While I really wish the author would get around to writing the sequel to this story (I know I saw a small excerpt of it once, posted to a ML somewhere), the way the story ends is satisfying (and makes me squee *g*).

Scarlet Ribbons

***

I haven't said this before, but given that I can only rec about 12 stories, and that I'm trying to give a wide selection of pairings, please always check out all the other stories the authors I rec have written. Jessi Albano, for example, has a very nice Farfarello story as well.
