Fandom: THE WEST WING
Pairing: Josh/Will

Why this must be read:

This one is pretty short, but it's definitely worth reading. In a fandom where the canon character's voices are so distinct, and thus, harder for authors to capture, [livejournal.com profile] michellek does a great job with them. As the title implies the story is about Will settling into his place in the West Wing, and the way this author writes, it feels like it could have actually taken place, between one show or another.

Well, better late than never...

I'm RileyC, and finally found the keys for the Oz van this month. My preference leans toward B/K fics that explore the love between them, even while acknowledging they and Oz are thoroughly fucked up; a lot of Alternate Universe fics also occupy top spots on my favorites list.

So, starting things off with a great fic by someone new to Oz, but not to fandom, and who a lot of us hope will be blessing us with some more treasures along the way --

Fandom: Oz
Pairing: Beecher/Keller

Author Website: Flesh and Beyond
Why this must be read: Because it's one those perfect slice-of-life-in-Oz fics that are pitch perfect in capturing the feel of the show, giving us a scene that plays like it could have easily been filmed, it nails the characters and their situation that good. It was written for a recent Flash Fic challenge over at the [livejournal.com profile] hardtime100 community, for the Seven Deadly Sins; Fluffyllama picked gluttony as her sin to explore, and what wonderful things she explored.

See what I mean? We can visualize every nuance, hear Chris and Toby crystal clear, and the paths inside Beecher's mind are always a fascinating hike.

Go, read, leave feedback, and harass her to write some more. ;)

Fandom: Smallville
Pairing: Clark/Lex

The second of my four recs themed around Clark's alienness is this wonderful coming-of-age story by C J Andre.

Why this must be read: Because it reminds us why so many of us fell in love with the adorably shy, slightly awkward teenaged Clark Kent in the first place.

Like most guys his age, Clark is trying to figure out the whole sex thing, but of course, he's not like other guys his age. So it's all so much more complicated. Between advice from his Earth Dad and glimmerings of wisdom from his Kryptonian father, as well as much-needed help from Lex, he does eventually work it out.

This story is incredibly hot, with one scene in particular that is just searing. It's also funny, but what ultimately makes it stick in the memory is how poignant it is. If the idea of the boy who will one day be Superman struggling with the challenge of growing up alien has ever seemed moving to you, you won't want to miss this story.

08:59 pm Man on the Line by Kazi (NC-17)
Fandom: The Professionals
Pairing: Bodie/Doyle
Author on LJ: Unknown
Author Website: Unknown
Why this must be read:

This story shows Bodie in his complete Doyle-protective mode.

Doyle is receiving obscene phone calls and it is beginning to wear him down. When Bodie finds out he insists that Doyle comes and stayes at Bodie's place until the stalker has been caught.

Doyle feels guilty that Bodie worries so much about him and Bodie feels jealous and protective.

When Bodie invites Doyle into his bed in the middle of another sleepless night, Doyle accepts gladly.

The ending has a nice little twist.

Not a very long story but certainly an enjoyable one!
