Why this must be read: I'm not sure I heard the question correctly. This has Methos. And Sands. As partners. Blood and sex and blowing people's heads clean off, and sometimes all three at once. Of course they must be read.

Oh, you need more? Well, here's a quote then:

"Sometimes it's a beautiful, kind-hearted girl with six months to live. And sometimes it's a man who was still standing, still fighting, when the trauma he'd just been through should have broken him completely." That made Sands go completely still, barely breathing -- too much, too soon, so Methos continued, "Who also, now that I think about it, was wearing blood all over his pretty face, and that's a look I've always had a weakness for."

If sex and violence isn't enough to do it for you you obviously aren't in the Mexico fandom anyway I'd recommend these stories even so; Sands, blind and newly immortal, lets Methos show both of his extremes - the gentle, caring mentor-friend and the bloody sociopath - and Laylah brings the ends together with such delicacy and skill that you find yourself saying, oh, *that's* who Methos is, after all--

The One and True Dark Lord

Why this must be read:
I have been unable to find any badness so far in the Multiverse ficathon fics. I really could have recced any of them, but this is the one that stood out for me today.

This is a short fic, just two scenes, but it draws a credible picture of a flailing Inara, a little slow to realize that all the things she's learned in her life aren't that useful in this new place she's found herself. It also makes sense, as written, that she would end up making a connection with B'Elanna, her personality opposite. In my opinion that's a hard thing to do, and the author did it just right.

Why this must be read:
This crossover captures the feel of two universes, and the story of two loners whose paths cross for a while is realistic and in character. Given who these two are, it's not a romantic tale, but when I got to the end, I felt like this could have happened when two travelers met.

My reason for rec'ing this story has more to do with the eye candy factor than anything else, but the setup is plausible, and the ending is fitting. I'm not sure how well-known this crossover is, however, I'll just suggest you read what happens when Fraser finds a stray in Chicago.

What a grand and glorious mix of fandoms! We are not in Kansas anymore. I've been waiting half the month to rec this.

Guede Mazaka is another shining light in our dark little fandom, though she's prolific in other fandoms, as well. The City is a multi-fandom AU set in a prohibition-era Los Angeles doppleganger called Los Diablos. A plot to kill the Mayor and pin the murder on El's "family" brings together this eclectic bunch of characters, no small number of whom are played by Johnny Depp. *g* She's even added an OMC, Miguel, whom she tells us looks a lot like Antonio Banderas. If you're new to OUaTiM, please don't start with this one; the crossover characters, not to mention canonically dead ones, will make your head spin. But, for the well- and multi- versed, this is a rare and delicious smorgasbord. Bon Apetit! (or, whatever the Spanish equivalent may be)

Let me first state that I am not a Spike fan. And, doubtless because of that fact, I don't go around finding many Spike stories that grab my attention--that provide me with the Spike I know from the show, and not the William The Misunderstood that I see a lot on various archives. With that in mind, realise that I have overcome a prejudice in order to say:

Barb G. gives good Spike.

If she can convince me, then she can convince any of you--and she'll please Spikefen all in one fell swoop. In "Old Habits", Spike is chipped and bitter about it. He stalks humans despite the pain it causes, until the night he finds an immortal. The hunger and the bloodthirst, the sex and the undeadness--all are hot, well described, and they work wonderfully as characterization for both Spike and Methos (who is, understandably, angsting over dumping Kronos in a well. As you do.)

Why this must be read:
Saber is one of the authors who gets my vote every single time. I've read almost everything she's ever written and adore her. I had a hard time arrowing which of her Draco/Lex to rec cause she has a few and they all rock but ultimately I decided on this one because I love get together fics and I love the way she did it in this. Also the interaction between the characters is hilarious.
“Lex?” Draco’s mouth twitched in a satisfied grin, as he glanced up at Harry. “I’m shagging him rotten. Why, jealous?”
Harry rolled his eyes. “You wish.”
“Sorry, but no. You’re not my type. I prefer redheads.” Draco went back to his writing. “Better tell your pet Weasel ‘back to the wall’ next time I’m around.”
“Don’t call him that.”
“Oh, so you’re the pet?”
“Will you take your mind out of the gutter for one second and explain this Muggle?”
“I can’t do that if you want my mind out of the gutter.”

Why this must be read:

Quite possibly the best ever Beecher/Stabler fic, this is infused with so much passion, emotion, realism, anger, hurt, regret, lust and love, that it captures wonderfully the feelings that the B/K relationship invoked in its fans, and how Beecher deals with this when he meets a man who is his dead lover's double. Watching Toby struggle to see Stabler not as a 'replacement Chris', but just 'Elliot', while Stabler finds himself falling in love with a man who's heart belongs to a ghost, is a thing of aching beauty. It's also a fascinating look at Elliot struggling with his own sexuality - not just the homosexual element, but himself as a sexual being. This fic tore my heart out, then somehow managed to heal it again several times over before the end.

I know there's only supposed to be one crossover rec but I just couldn't decide between two and I'm hoping the mods will forgive me and allow me this mishap. You can count this as one of my regular recs instead if you want but I couldn't decide between Lex and all these hot boys. I'm so sorry.
