Fandom: DCU Pairing: Nightwing/Batman (Dick Grayson/Bruce Wayne) Author on LJ: thete1 buggery Author Website: Teland and Jack's memories. Why this must be read: Dick Grayson is the very first Robin. Likely, if you know a dirty Batman and Robin joke, that's him in the green and red suit. For all that, Dick/Bruce is a relatively rare pairing in this fandom (I said relatively,) in part because these two have so much history that exchanging pleasantries is navigating a minefield. Te and Jack tango through this minefield with sizzle. Two men in pain, with a history of hurting each other, who manage to connect despite themselves. IconicI suggest that when you feedback the authors, as you will wish to after reading this, you include the word "night-mullet."

Fandom: LOTRIPS Pairings: Dom/Billy, Elijah/Orlando, Viggo/Orlando Author on LJ: joconditeAuthor Website: N/A Why this must be read: Set during filming, this story, told from Billy's point of view, describes a manic roadtrip with a detour to fondue. It's all sunburn and sweet dreams until the snow starts falling and the underlying tensions begin to shadow the gleeful frivolity. Billy's got a knack for reading his comrades, from ditzy Orlando to mad bastard Viggo, but somehow he's got Dom all wrong. There's some deft juggling of humour and friction here, and a tender scene to finish. ( excerpt )The Poem of the Air

Fandom: LOTRIPS Pairings: Elijah/Billy/Dom Author on LJ: sophrosyne31Author Website: LJ memoriesWhy this must be read: An exceptionally well realised AU, 'Recall' describes a brief awakening in a soporific Victorian dystopia. The language is wonderfully evocative for a story about wilful forgetfulness, filling the tale with grotty sensuality and bittersweet tenderness. ( excerpt ) Recall

Fandom: LORD OF THE RINGS Pairing: Frodo/Sam, Merry/Pippin Author on LJ: ? Author Website: Polecat @ West of the MoonWhy this must be read: Something like the hobbit version of a clubfic, 'The Hole Dwellers' is notorious well known for its unforgettable portrayal of Poledancing Frodo. Set not long before the quest begins, this story provides some fun and games before the storm as the conspirators plot behind Frodo's back and the UST climbs out of control. Frodo's curious and not a little jealous about Sam's confidences with Merry and Pippin, and things come to a head during a drunken pub gig at The Ivy Bush. ( excerpt )The Hole Dwellers

Fandom: SPORTS NIGHT Pairing: None - the whole gang, but Dan POV Author on LJ: N/A Author Website: Crocodile In Spelling's Fanfic.net Index Why this must be read: Occasionally one can stumble upon a real gem over at fanfiction.net, and this story is evidence of this. Set after the events of Draft Day, the staff tries to deal with the repercussions of all that Dan is going through. It’s darker than most Sports Night fic out there, but it still brings the banter and manages to be true to the characters. ( A short excerpt to intrigue you to read... )So go read and, if you like it, be sure to leave feedback for the author: Now, Now

Fandom: THE SECRET ADVENTURES OF JULES VERNE Pairing: Phileas/Rebecca Author on LJ: unknown Author Website: http://blue-fenix.fanspace.com/Why this must be read:Well written, incorporating a few secondary characters and a certain reoccurring piece of technology from the series, and on occasion referring to some of the grimmer aspects of being an agent of the Service. This reads rather like an episode that was never filmed. The author originally planned to write a sequel, so there are a few questions raised that are not fully explained. However, the story does stand on its own. Nota Bene (written in seven parts, links to the next provided at the bottom of each)

Fandom: PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: THE CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL Pairing: Anamaria/Jack Sparrow/Elizabeth Swann Turner Author on LJ: geek_mama_2Author Website: Black Pearl TalesWhy this must be read:Because this pairing grouping is sex. Because Jack Sparrow has sexual chemistry with everything, up to and including apples and bananas, and he stole Anamaria's boat (please, Disney, use a better euphemism next time), and he and Elizabeth are 'peas in a pod'. Fandom: ANGEL Pairing: Doyle/Wesley Author on LJ: kattahjAuthor Website: Katta's HomepageWhy this must be read: One aspect that shines from this trilogy is Katta's sense of characterization. Her character voices, actions, and attitudes are spot on, and she does a wonderful job at creating original characters that only add to the storyline. She sets up a tense relationship between Doyle and the rest of Angel Investigations when they discover that Doyle's been unwillingly brought back by the PTB and hasn't bothered to contact them. At the heart of the trilogy is a theme of family: the ones we create and the ones we're born into. Unwilling Eurydice, Guess Who's Coming to Manchester, and Symphony

Fandom: X-Men Comicverse Pairing: Gen. Scott/Jean, Logan, Nick Fury, Alex Summers Author on LJ: Don’t know. Author Website: JuliebmrWhy this must be read:Someone anonymously mails Scott a photo of his deceased parents. As a result, Scott begins to seek out information about his mother, whom he barely remembers. The people in the photo look familiar to Logan. Did Wolverine sabotage the Summers’ plane while working for the Weapon X program? A story about the Summers family that focuses on Scott’s mother for once instead of his father. I like the relationship described between Scott and Jean – she’s such a source of strength to him. And I like this Logan. “Let it rest, Logan. Scott's going to be a father himself soon; he and his brother have moved on with their lives. What good would it serve to bring it all up again when there's nothing definite to tell him?"
"He has a right to know."
"No, he doesn't."
"At the very least, he's going to know where the plane crashed," Logan stated firmly. "Either you're going to tell him, or I will. And if I tell him, I'll tell him everything."Pasts Imperfect

Fandom: THE PROFESSIONALS Pairing: Bodie/Doyle Author on LJ: Unknown Author Website: None Why this must be read: I'm of two minds with this story. Though there's no denying it's amazingly hot, I get the feeling my take on it may not be what the writer intended. Because what Bodie does, well, I can't fault him for it. Given the circumstances, I can't say I wouldn't do the same. And given that, I'm inclined to think, while Doyle may not like it, it wouldn't change what he felt for his partner. It's a dark interlude, one the reader can take as they will. Love Lies Bleeding
