Hello! I'm your Sentinel crack provider for this month. I plan to rec new and old Jim/Blair slash stories that are really worth of sinking your teeth into. Fandom: THE SENTINEL Pairing: Jim/Blair Author on LJ: mab_browneAuthor Website: n/a Why this must be read: This is a recently posted AU that puts Jim and Blair in 1814 England. Jim is a weary soldier suffering from an illness involving his senses. Blair is a free spirit, barely bound by society's rules. Naomi is an interfering, well-meaning mother. So, yeah, basically not much different from the show. This story is like a regency romance novel done at its best, without the over abundance of sap, but with an abudnance of heart all the same, a true love for the characters, and the misunderstandings that always have them dancing around each other like they've each stubbed their toes on the others' pride. A long, filling read. ( Excerpt )Cards On The Table

Fandom: STAR WARS Pairing: Anakin/Obi-Wan Author on LJ: butterflyAuthor Website: MyriadWhy this must be read: Because Anakin/Obi-Wan is my OTP, and I'm a hard sell for it. If I'm reccing it here, that means it is, in my opinion, outstanding. This fic is full of lovely description, absolutely bullseye characterizations, believable dialogue, and a real gut-wrenching ending that suits this angst-filled pairing. The sex scene is hot, but bittersweet. Diana Michelle just gets this pairing and makes it utterly believable in a way few others can. She will break your heart, as it should be broken, given the ultimately tragic end to Anakin and Obi-Wan's relationship. ( Excerpt from 'On the Rocks' )On the Rocks

Fandom: STARSKY AND HUTCH Pairing: see below Author on LJ: elizabethhelenaAuthor Website: Starsky and Hutch FanficWhy this must be read:EH's own author notes say it better than I ever could: Codes: Written from a gen perspective, but not only is slash implied, it is the central theme of this vignette. If even the threat of slash makes you run for the hills, I advise you to lace up your Adidas runners right now. Warning: Threats of character death and hot man-on-man sex are made, but I'm just a big tease. EH absolutely skewers slash conventions and does it in a way that'll leave you howling with laughter (or at least giggling!). I love this story, and it really cannot be slotted easily into either slash or gen. It's not a parody, either, because everyone is perfectly in-character throughout the story, and EH makes you believe that the events described within are plausible. You can almost see this happening - except that it wouldn't. Except that maybe it would. Unslashable

Fandom: SPORTS NIGHT Pairing: Dana/Sally, Dana/Casey, Dana/Gordon, Sally/Casey, Sally/Gordon Author on LJ: warlordkittensAuthor Website: Winged Words, Fanfiction.net profile. Why this must be read:Did you read the pairing? Okay. It's a perfect, perfect, perfect insight into Dana. Also, it's kind of hot. In a yicky way. And I love the title. Lastly, did you read the pairing? Mercy As A Default PositionFeedback: Is easy--ff.n has a review tool even my puppy could use. Hello! It's me, bj, again. Did you read the pairing? Yes? Good. My candy continues to be fearsome, as you can see.

Fandom: LOST Pairing: Jack/Sawyer Author on LJ: hkathAuthor Website: N/A Why this must be read: A lot has been done with the idea of Jack and Sawyer meeting once again after being rescued, but this fic takes that notion and expands it into this complex thing of beauty that's practically canon. On New Year's Eve in New York City they meet in a bar, presumably by chance, only to discover that nothing about their meeting is coincidental. It becomes apparent as the night wears on that they were fated to collide. The details here are breathtaking, and the dialog is perfect. ( excerpt )Night On Earth

Fandom: MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. Pairing: Napoleon Solo/Illya Kuryakin Author on LJ: viviana7Author Website: no, but you can find her fics on her LJ and the CaGM archiveWhy this must be read: This excellent story uses the episode "Shark Affair" to explore the relationship dynamic between Napoleon and Illya. Viviana not only recreates scenes from the episode with impressive precision, she expands on them with generous dollops of banter, hurt/comfort, suspense and, most importantly, delivers the character-driven drama that was only hinted at in the script. In first-person present tense, we are easily drawn into Illya's mindset as a young agent harbouring a crush on his partner. Through his eyes, we see the many facets of Napoleon Solo: his charm, his skill as a bartender, his unflappable humour, his steely determination...and his capacity for empathy and forgiveness under duress. Illya grapples to make sense of this aspect of Napoleon, so consumed is he with helpless fury and vengeance. Their attempt to understand each other forms the heart of this story. There is no romantic resolution, no vows of love voiced aloud. But the moving depiction of the bond between them will reassure anxious slash fans. Sometimes optimism can be contagious. Fans who haven't seen the episode may like to check out this summary by Vicky L - but you don't need to know the episode to enjoy this story.Only Optimists

Fandom: X-MEN COMICVERSE Pairing: Gen. Some mention of past Cannonball/Jubilee and Gambit/Rogue. Author on LJ: wal_laceAuthor Website: N/A Why this must be read:I’m really, really into the eventual obliteration of society as we know it. As I’m sure y’all are too. Wallace spins the vaguely disturbing tale of a post-plague, restructured world. Most of the earth's heroes have succumbed to the virus and those who remain sure aren’t having a lot of fun. It's a hell of a good time for us, though, finding out who survived, how they did it and what they're doing now. If for nothing else, Broken Blade should be read for the bizarro-world version of Betsy Braddock (who I think was dead in Marvel continuity when this was written.) She's a much more interesting Betsy than the one who recently resurfaced in the comics. I love the smell of post-apocalyptic fic in the morning. Ahhhhh. Breathe deep, y’all. Fandom: House Pairing: House/Wilson Author on LJ: kassrachelAuthor Website: http://www.trickster.org/kass/index.htmlWhy this must be read: Kass is one of my favorite House authors. She captures the dynamic between House and Wilson and this story is no exception. What I love about Tipping Point is that it we can see the depth of the connection between these two men. It doesn't have to be difficult. They know each other. All they need is a tipping point. Tipping Point
