12:21 am Ray's Inuit Story by Giulietta (PG-13)
Fandom: DUE SOUTH
Pairing: Fraser/Kowalski
Author on LJ: [profile] mondschein1
Author Website: LJ Memories
Why this must be read: During their post-CotW adventure, Fraser and Ray try some Inuit throat singing, the mechanics of which bring them a bit too close for Fraser's comfort. Fraser can't handle it. His reaction  his behavior  is priceless. Pitch-perfect and beautifully written.

"I," Fraser says, and stops moving altogether. "I." He turns himself around so that he's facing Ray, and kinda  inflates, like he's getting ready for Ray to punch him. "I," he adds, real sincere.

Giulietta is excellent at evoking Due South's quirkiness. Her Ray and Fraser voices are spot-on, and she has such a great way with words.

This lovely story is one in an ongoing series called Ten Years Onward, but it's really a stand-alone first-time story, sort of a prequel to the series. I recommend the entire WiP series, but you don't have to have read any of them to enjoy this story.

05:54 am These Old Anchors by Laura (R)
Fandom: NCIS
Pairing: Gibbs/Abby
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] atlashrugged
Author Website: Laura's fic at the NCIS archive.
Why this must be read:

I have a confession to make. I'm a het shipper in this fandom. Not that the slash isn't wonderful and abundant, but it wasn't entirely my fault that I fell in love with Abby.

Really. Completely and utterly in love with the tattoos, the collars, the pigtails, the music, and the relationship she has with Gibbs, especially. Their relationship works for me on so many levels--I'll admit to lots of squee every time I see Gibbs smooch Abby on-screen.

(Of course I think Gibbs is hot. He's Mark Harmon.)

Laura's story is a series of scenes, tied quite deftly into canon, that explore the inner thoughts of two people completely and inappropriately attracted to each other. The emotions here are visceral and real; Abby is nearly young enough to be Gibbs' daughter, after all.

06:00 am start/end by jane d (NC-17)
Fandom: NCIS
Pairing: DiNozzo/McGee
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] thrillsforall
Author Website: girlcalledjane.com
Why this must be read:

A geek and a jock become NCIS agents. Together, they fight crime.

No. Really. Tony, former rich boy turned policeman is the senior agent to Tim, once and future geek, the probie. They bond over ogling women, occasionally movies, and sometime bad-for-them greasy food. Tony never gives McGee a break, except when Tim really needs it. For his part, Tim takes it all in stride and is getting better at giving as well as he gets.

This is some amazing porn. This is also some amazing writing. McGee is completely McGee, Tony is completely Tony, and they're both men.

06:56 am Secrets by Lucy (PG)
Fandom: DC COMICS
Pairing: Clark/Dick (Superman/Nightwing)
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] cereta
Author Website: Cereta's Web

Why this must be read:
I like the Clark voice very much. (Clark gets so frustrated at Bruce's stubborn ways, and he has the deepest perspective on Batman, at least in the Justice League). I also am rec'ing it because the Superman/Nighwing moment is tantalizing. I'd love to read more of this storyverse, for me one of the best indicators of a satisfying story.

09:05 am World in Your Eyes by Jamjar (G)
Fandom: DC COMICS
Pairing: None (mention of Clark/Lois)
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] jamjar
Author Website: None

Why this must be read:
I wanted more of Clark after my last rec, so I went for a sweet little Clark moment. This ficlet, a brief character study that captures the heart of the Man of Steel, makes my heart swell with love for Clark, the human part of Superman.

11:11 am Paterfamilias by Kphoebe and Miggy (R)
Fandom: HARRY POTTER
Pairing: gen
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] kphoebe and [livejournal.com profile] miggy
Author Website: none
Why this must be read:

In this story, Arthur Weasley discovers how easy it is to become too much like the enemy. It's a painful, well-written exploration of the consequences of doing the wrong thing for all the right reasons. Note that the rating is for disturbing content, not sex.

01:01 pm My Man Jeeves by The Android (R)
Fandom: JEEVES & WOOSTER
Pairing: Jeeves/Bertie Wooster
Author on LJ: no LJ (that I can trace)
Author Website: The Android's Dungeon
Why this must be read:

Bertie finds out that there's no doing without Jeeves. An admirable combination of quiet devotion, Mrs. Beeton, and 'tween-stairs escapades.

She gave me the speculative fish-eye, then realised there was no reasoning with me. )
