12:48 am Who Did Sin by cgb (PG-13)
Fandom: The X-Files
Pairing: n/a
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] mandysbitch
Author Website: Mind Games
Why this must be read: If you like minor characters, especially the one-shot characters we were frequently introduced to during The X-Files' anthology/MOTW episodes, you'll love this. Season five was a great one for the show, and that was due in part to the episode "Mind's Eye," guest starring Lily Taylor as a blind woman incarcerated for a murder she didn't commit. Of course, the episode was more complicated than that, and so was the character, Marty Glenn. "Who Did Sin" is an exploration of Marty, and done with a lot of care. It takes place outside of the episode, so you could even read this if you've never seen it.

12:51 am A Sudden Case of Slash by Lemur (PG-13ish)
Fandom: LOTRIPS
Pairing: N/A
Author on LJ: N/A

Why this must be read: We've all been there: the sudden, can't-get-enough blush of falling into a new fandom. But what if your fandom was actually your life? How would that change the way you saw the people who inhabited it?

09:41 am Two Straight Guys in Wisconsin: The Amazing Adventures of Chris and His Cock by Rhys (NC-17)
Fandom: POPSLASH
Pairing: Chris/Lance
Author on LJ: Unknown
Author Website: http://www.illuminations.nu/experimentv/
Why this must be read:
This fic is, above all else, one of the funniest things I’ve ever read in this fandom. The guys go on vacation and Chris spends a lot of time thinking about, and talking to, his penis. He also spends a good bit of time fooling around with and falling in love with Lance. Rhys has a gift for writing Chris that I just wish I could come close to. He’s funny, insecure, completely insane and the way she gets inside his head is just fantastic. This is Chris at his schizo best and I totally love it. And Lance’s patience with Chris’ psychosis is just perfect. Go. Read. Laugh your ass off. Let Rhys know if you liked it.

10:20 am The Fourth Dimension by iammiffyneko (PG-13)
Fandom: SMALLVILLE
Pairing: Clark/Lex
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] balinesenoneko
Author Website: SkyNeko.com
Why this must be read: Yeah, I'm a sucker for time travel stories. It's a bulletproof kink for me, and [livejournal.com profile] balinesenoneko fulfills my rampaging need for time travel paradoxes beautifully in this, giving us a bitter future Clark-n-Lex, plus regular pre-rift Clark-n-Lex, and that's just all kinds of good!

12:36 pm Claim Her Own Skin by Reccea (NC-17)
Fandom: SGA
Pairing: McKay/Cadman
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] reccea
Author Website: Her SGA Fiction Memories
Why this must be read:

This is a great character study of both Cadman and McKay in the aftermath of Duet. Getting back into her own body was great, but it didn't leave Cadman feeling easy-peasy, with everything resolved nice and neat, tied up in a red ribbon bow; Instead, her own body is a stranger to her, clumsy and awkward, and she decides she needs Rodney with her to reclaim it. The story of how she does that is incredibly hot, with a blunt, aggressive Cadman POV, not pulling any punches in what she wants, and Rodney eventually getting with the program as well. Great voices on both of the characters.

02:02 pm Alter Urgo by ELG (NC-17)
Fandom: STARGATE: SG-1
Pairing: Sam/Teal'c Daniel/Jack
Author Website: Story found at Area 52
Why this must be read:

I was in the mood to rec something fun, so I thought Urgo fic would be just the thing. So why this one, out of the hundreds of Urgo fics out there? Aside from the humor and sex all the way through, what I loved here was the ending. What do you stand to lose when you regain control of your impulses? And is normal worth it?

"I never said I was in love with you."

"So you'd have sex with someone fifteen times when you *weren't* in love with him?"

Daniel gave him a look of exasperation. "Do you have to tell everyone *every*thing?"

"Hey, I'm forty-four, I'm pretty impressed with myself."

02:20 pm Somnambulist by Christina Kamnikar (G)
Fandom: STARGATE: SG-1
Pairing: None
Author Website: Story found on Statistical Outliers
Why this must be read:

Daniel quests for coffee, and unwisely decides to commandeer Jack's.

"Did you know that no less than *six* people mentioned your little zombie-imitation around the SGC last night to me?" Jack rocks up on his toes, eyes narrowed and scary. "And that was before I got past the first checkpoint." Hmm. That expression is familiar... (And then he took out his knife, and he threw it at Heru'ur. Oh, yeah. Take another gulp of coffee before Jack takes it away.)

"Did they really?" It's not lying if it's in the form of a question (I'll take prevarication for $300, Alex).

08:34 pm Library Porn: Say Bibliotheque Again, Baby by Nestra and Shrift (R)
Fandom: ANGEL
Pairing: Wes/Gunn
Authors on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] nestra and [livejournal.com profile] shrift
Author Websites: Nestra's Pantheon and shrift's fanfiction

Why this must be read:
I couldn't let a tour as Angel crack van driver pass without some recs of my favorite guys, so the next few stories are going to be Wes/Gunn. This pairing was my first love in the AtS fandom, even if I eventually admitted to the charms of Angel/Wesley, and I've spent hours and hours sifting the Gunn/Wesley Fanfic Archive. I still have a deep, deep fondness for this pairing that canon events didn't kill. This story has Bookish!Wes and geek-lovin' Gunn and Ambiguously Clueless!Angel. The ending of this story is amusing every time I read it. :)

08:50 pm "The Inhumation Affair" by Graculus (PG-13)
Fandom: MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E.
Pairing: Illya/Napoleon
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] graculus
Author Website: here

Sorry for the extremely late start - I've been on holiday and away from LJ. I'll try to make up for it. This author is new to me and what a pleasure the discovery has been!

Why this must be read:

Buried alive, Napoleon wonders how long it's going to take Illya to get there and rescue him. As he asks himself when he got so certain that his partner would always turn up in the nick of of time, he reflects on milestones in their relationship. This is a relatively short one-shot, clever, pacy and funny, which doesn't miss a beat in its sharp characterisation of Napoleon and Illya. The dialogue is great and Illya in particular is well drawn, although Napoleon doesn't suffer either. Read and enjoy!
