Why this must be read:

This is an old one, back from 2004, written for Jossverse Birthday Ficathon. Set between Disharmony and Belonging, the fic takes place in my favourite time period in Angel-verse - second season. This fic captures everything I loved about that crew at that time; the comraderie, friendship, love, and just the closeness in their ragtag little family. I love the family feeling that they started to hit in mid season two. So for all of you who missed this gem when it was posted, read and enjoy (don't forget to send feedback!)

07:18 am The Machinery Of Heaven by Torch (NC-17)
Fandom: STARGATE ATLANTIS
Pairing: McKay/Sheppard
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] flambeau
Author Website: The Flambeau Factory
Why this must be read: This long, plotty fic, set in Season 1, has a long, slow build and a nice payoff. McKay, the "engineer of heaven," agrees to repair some old machinery in exchange for a ZPM and some coffee beans. Bound to Teyla, his protector, by mind-linking bracelets, McKay begins work, only to fall astray of local politics as the king's wives demand access to his body. What does the machinery do? Why does the king want it repaired--and why does everyone else want McKay to stop work? Matters come to a head, of course, and all the clues Torch weaves in, from butterflies to peaches to bad smells, come into play. There are lots of great one-liners, but the joy in this fic is the spot-on characterization and the perfect dialogue.
"Teyla can do this," John said. "She'll be fine."

"Of course she'll be fine," McKay snapped. "She could beat that guy blindfolded. That's not the point. The point is, Teyla is fighting a duel to protect my virtue, and if you put that in the mission report, I'll do something really terrible to you that I can't think of right now because I'm too busy telling myself that this isn't really happening."

03:31 pm Five Things That Never Happened to Aeryn Sun by cofax (PG13)
Fandom: Farscape
Pairing: Aeryn/John
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] cofax7
Author Website: alchemy mouldiwarps and coprophagy
Why this must be read:

While they're not directly related, I like to view this as a companion to Alternate Lifestyles, which is a five things story for John Crichton. Both offer glimpses into the many what-might-have-beens in John and Aeryn's lives, and this story in particular does a convincing interpretation of the many faces and feelings of this Peacekeeper turned rogue warrior turned lover.

She loves best the arns just before the crew awakens, when it is only the two of them, and the stars. They soar then, glide, spin, wheel through the infinite like the flying creatures Crichton used to tell her of, those first weekens before everything changed.

Everything is simple, and Talyn's voice is loving and warm.

11:04 pm Lose All The Battles by Artemis (R)
Fandom: X-MEN MOVIEVERSE
Pairing: Logan/Rogue
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] artemis2050
Author Website: Artemis' WRFA page
Why this must be read: Undefined, quasi-relationships are difficult and hard to maintain. This story is about Logan and Rogue's, masters of said relationship. Even theirs' can't last forever. How did it get to this point? Will they have to talk about their *gasp* feelings? Pfft. Like I'd rec it if they didn't.
