With the breaking *ahem* news today, I've decided to feature Lance Bass for the rest of month. Hope everyone enjoys the recs. Fandom: POPSLASH Pairing: Lance Bass/Chris Kirkpatrick Author on LJ:TrixieAuthor Website:Isn't That Something?Why this must be read:</> I was amazed when checking that Trixie has only been recced for one fic and that was back in 1/04. While she doesn't put out much sparkly boy fic anymore, what is on her page is insightful slices of life that I could easily see and hear. Try Drive or The Courtship of Chris and Lance or This Margin of Error w/commentary by the author even. But mostly try Nothing Better. While only a short future fic, it makes Lance very real in the best possible way. Trixie obviously likes Lance Bass and respects him as a person as she does the other members of *NSYNC. With broad strokes, the author reminds the reader that these are people too with faults & foibles. And it's little moments that make up a life - The best part of life. Try it.
If you like Nothing Better try some of her other wonderful fic. Her site will always provide the reader with a warm, cuddly feeling. Somedays, there is nothing better. | | |

Fandom: POPSLASH Pairing: GSF *NSYNC / Lancecentric Author on LJ:A Fragment of Hard CandyAuthor Website:Improvidence:You Are ThereWhy this must be read:</> I love this story for a lot of reasons, not the least of which is that it begins when Lance gets back from traveling in space. And while the author doesn't go into specifics, the spaceshot sounds more like Apollo 13 than a simple expedition its always referred to in the news. For once, an author actual gets that, yes, Lance successfully passed Cosmonaut training. (Thank you, Lily.) Instead of dealing with the actual flight/problems, the author deals with the trauma of those left behind that wait, pray, and make life-altering decisions. A wonderful look at the price of dreams fulfilled, Try Delayed Re-entry.

I was quite excited to discover this lesser-known fic, which has an interesting plot, snappy dialogue, and nice characterizations of the ensemble, although it's a Sam-centric fic. It's a season 6 AU in which Sam has decided to run for office again, and is kidnapped by white supremacists after he makes a fiery speech denouncing their activities. Sam, as the central figure, is a wonderful mixture of passionate, vulnerable, and resolute, and the author doesn't "woobify" him too much. Another aspect of this story that I appreciated was its alternative narrative structure--it starts with the moment that Sam is found by the FBI, and moves back and forth in time from that point.
