Title: Can't Stop the Turtle by uarazy2 Rating: PG Pairing: none Author on LJ: uarazy2Author Website: uarazy2's FF.net profileWhy this must be read:Because it's utterly freaking hilarious. The Serenity crew is contacted by Lord Vetinari to undertake a very important job. Hijinks ensue. The wave from “Unseen University” had been somewhat alarming, Mal had to admit. After all, it wasn’t every day one encountered an orangutan capable of operating this kind of communications technology – but then, seeing Jayne sending a wave for the first time had been quite a shock too, and he supposed this was nowhere near as impressive by comparison. Can't Stop the Turtle by uarazy2* If you enjoy the story, please let the author know! *

Fandom: SMALLVILLE/DC COMICS Pairing: Chloe Sullivan/Dick Grayson Author on LJ: resminAuthor Website: memories @ LJWhy this must be read:Chloe's such a Little Black Dress of fandom. She can go anywhere or with anyone -- perfect crossover material. And perhaps the most natural crossover for anyone in the Smallville universe is with the DC Comics universe. And the pairing with the most sparkage, IMO, is Chloe and Dick. Secret Identities may be short, but it packs a lot of fun and sexiness into a tiny space. More bang for your buck -- I'm sure the Batfamily would be proud. Secret Identities Part I Part II

Title: Conflict of Interest by Glacis Pairing: Tony DiNozzo/Martin Fitzgerald Author on LJ: No Author Website: Castle's KeepWhy this Must be read: This author knows Tony, knows Martin. Putting them together is enough but the author gives us more. There is nothing wrong with a nice hot dose of porn which we get in this story, but then it goes beyond that. Tony and Martin become more to each other and we, the readers, get to go on that journey. Also, have you seen these men? A few men had given him signals, but none of them had done much for him. Older guys, for the most part, power players, sharks; Tony was hungry, but not that hungry, and he wanted some meat with some muscle to it.
Then a man walked in the door.
Not as tall as Tony, but damned cute, with a way of holding himself that said he’d break anybody who dared to call him cute into many very small bloody pieces. Built solid, wide shoulders, narrow hips, strong face, bright blue eyes that oddly reminded him of Ducky, only the twinkle in these was muted. Sadder than they should be. Tony kept looking out the corner of his eye as the guy saw him in turn, and headed directly across the floor to stand next to him at the bar.
All Tony’s nerves started to sing at once, and they were singing a mating song. He wanted this guy.StoryOh and be sure and read the sequels: ControlSometimes the Box Bleeds

Fandom: Stargate SG1Pairing: Sam Carter/Cameron Mitchell Author on LJ: synecdochicAuthor Website: Venus in FursWhy this must be read: I admit I'm not the biggest Cam fan, or at least, wasn't in the past. He's stepping into the role previously filled by Jack O'Neill and those are some big shoes to fill. Cam's actually just growing on me now and a large reason for that is because of his relationship with Sam. The two of them are on a first name basis which denotes a familiarity largely unspecified by the show. Synecdochic takes that idea and runs with it, fleshing out the friendship between Sam and Cam over the past fifteen years, filling in the gaps in a way that alternately makes you smile and tear up. It's a brand spankin' new fic that is definitely worth a look. Recovering the Satellites

Hi again! I'm tuning in with a nice little hottie, later today I'll give you a crossover, since it's the fifteenth today. Fandom: The Man from UNCLE Pairing: Illya/Napoleon Author on LJ: keelywolfeAuthor Website: Keely's FanfictionWhy this must be read: Who else but Napoleon and Illya could have a life-altering moment inside a coffin in the middle of a hostile Thrush nest? Nobody, that’s who. Also, despite the location this story is insanely funny. Believe it! The voices are good, we get a wee peek into Napoleon’s thoughts, and it’s hot. Saying more is to reveal the story, a story which is altogether way to short. I wish we could see the next scene and the next scene…mmm ( The start... )Much Ado

Fandom: FARSCAPE Pairing: N/A Author on LJ: thassaliaAuthor Website: memories/ leviathanWhy this must be read:This year's Remix Redux brought about quite an interesting set of fics for Farscape, and one of the best I think is Thea's Tit for Tat. Set during season one, Thea's spot on characterization captures how the Moyans relate to one another first as a means of survival, and how personality clashes and tension of all kinds eventually develop deeper connections between the crew. Fandom: Veronica Mars Pairing: Veronica/Logan, Logan/Lilly, Veronica/Duncan Author on LJ: fox1013Author Website: Inner Geekdom Why this must be read:a) Second person is awesome. b) These characters have such difficult, entagled, and emotionally problematic relationships that a story that competently tackles their difficulties is worth reading. c) Falling in love with your dead best friend's boyfriend is never easy. You're somewhat in denial that you keep doing this on purpose. It doesn't seem like you. That's kind of the constant refrain in the back of your mind. Veronica Mars is smarter than this. Except, obviously, you're not, or maybe you're a masochist for the witty banter you both like to play at, because this is the third time this week alone that you're standing in the Echolls' front hall practicing your Awkward face while Logan works overtime to find the best alcohol money can buy and then forget about in the wine cellar. Fandom: Veronica Mars Pairing: Veronica/Duncan, Veronica/Logan, Duncan/Logan Author on LJ: iridescentglowAuthor Website: iridescentglow.comWhy this must be read:Oh, the ways Veronica, Duncan and Logan hurt each other are large and immeasureable; and maybe it's just everything they've been through, but it seems like they can't keep but orbiting around each other, fated to be tied in some unbreakable way by Lilly's death. And whatever way it turns out, you can't expect it to be perfect. "You and Duncan, huh? On again, off again, on, off . . . you're a regular carousel." Logan dropped his head close to Veronica's ear, keeping his voice low and provocative. He folded himself into her personal space, so that when she turned, she found that he had almost succeeded in pinning her to the bank of lockers. "You make me dizzy." His lips were inches from hers.

Title: Hands On The Wheel, Eyes On The Sky by Inlovewithnight Pairing: Gen - Fraser, Gunn, Dief Author on LJ: inlovewithnightAuthor Website: Exaggeration and Blank VerseWhy this must be read:Gunn, Fraser and Dief. Driving around, fighting evil - and eating pizza - in a big truck. This is set post- CotW in dS and veers off the Angel timeline sometime in S5. Gunn and Fraser are so themselves, both of them slightly broken but still functional, still getting along. Although the two of them together are fighting the good fight with the slightly dark humour of both series, there's undercurrents of how each of them got to where they are. The voices of all three are dead on - Fraser particularly in his silences as much as his speech, Gunn in his pride in his truck and the echoes of LA and Dief playing with the zombies. Title: The VistorPairings: Spike/Xander; Anita Blake/Jean-Claude Author on LJ: riani1Author Website: Two Ladies of QualityWhy this must be read:This tale of an encounter between two vampire slayers is fun, with Whedonesque quips and smile-inducing characterization; Buffy fans will enjoy it. You don't need to know more about the Blake 'verse than the fact that the vampires have different "rules" regarding how they are created and killed.

Fandom: BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER (but also ANGEL, like many stories in the Joss 'verse) Pairing: Connor/Dawn Author on LJ: annakovskyAuthor Website: the speed of glaciers, maybeWhy this must be read:An interesting twist of an AU, and one that requires an incest warning, this story evokes the sultry summer crushes that teens are so prone to, even when the object of lust is totally inappropriate. The author gives the reader another what-if regarding Connor, and I find this version of reality satisfying. Les Cousins DangereuxLes Cousins Dangereux on LJ

Fandom: RPS Pairing: Chris Kane/Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki/Jensen Ackles Author on LJ: winterliveAuthor Website: Hunter's BlogWhy this must be read:There's a lot of fics in this fandom that speculate on what the boys might do while on hiatus, how they'd fill their free time with each other. This is one of those fics. It ranges from raw, dirty, and skin-searingly hot, to angsty and twisted, to sweet deep and filled with longing. It's got Texas. Texas makes most everything better in the world fo fic. Long and plotty and full of boys being boys and finding ways to entertain themselves without TV. Sensine here - checking in late, due to a horrible thunderstorm. Fandom: The Man from UNCLE/The SENTINEL Pairing: Illya/Napoleon and Jim/Blair Author on LJ: Not known Author Website: Not know, the story can be found on this site: http://www.squidge.org/~peja/manfromuncle/slash.htmWhy this must be read: I would guess some of you have missed out on this story since it’s a crossover, but give it a chance even if you are of the kind that doesn’t normally read that. If you are unfamiliar with the Sentinel, check out the intro to the fandom here.Since this is a crossover, it gives you double value for your money. Napoleon and Illya and Jim and Blair! I have a weakness for Sentinel fandom, since it was the first slash fandom I followed online while the show was still running. Robert Vaughn was a guest star in one episode, The Read Deal. In this story both pairings are established, there’s not a problem with their private life per se. But oh! There’s trouble in abundance. I must warn you: this is a serious story. It has an intricate plot, weaving its way through more than forty years and over several continents. The pov varies; but in the end everything comes together. Some may say this is too painful to read, but if you like a long involved story with a complex plot, this is the story for you. A 124 KB story. And rest assured – I wouldn’t rec a story without a hopeful/good end. In short: shit happens – there’s blame to go around – but in the end what’s done is done and nobody can change the past. The plot is just so believable and realistic, despite the – well – special premises. ( a taste )There's lots more to be said, both about this story and about RV's performance in the Sentinel episode ;), but... Lock the door, unplug the phone, brew your tea and read!
