It's quite slow; Brighid is careful in developing the new dynamic and the plodding sexual relationship that emerged after a long time. It's a wonderful combination of bleak and hopeful. It's a crossover piece between The West Wing and Grey's Anatomy, a friendship between Amy Gardner and Addison Montgomery Shepherd. Knowledge of one show or the other is fine, but both is helpful. It provides a convincing backstory to Amy and Josh's relationship in college, as well as her present-day feelings about Josh and Donna. Great characterization, and the friendship between Amy and Addison fits into both canons. “Of course, not to your knowledge, Amy. It’s a secret society. The whole point is that it’s not to your knowledge.”

It is definitely written well, which is more than I can say about 99.5857% of the cliche fic in this fandom. But more importantly, the emotions are real, and can be felt. This makes it undeniable. This is that type of fic. After you read it you feel giddy and want to tell everyone to read it. And the sex, the sex is hot enough to break your computer. Telling Tony in this story that he can't do something and then trying to make him do it fits Gibbs' personality perfectly. Gibbs caught DiNozzo's eye. "In the mood for porn?"
DiNozzo grinned. "Only porn with sound."
"Sorry, I can't help you with that." Gibbs opened the door. "Bye, DiNozzo," he said, putting a hand on DiNozzo's chest to stop him from exiting.
DiNozzo hesitated, then got it. "Night, boss," he said, and Gibbs shut the door loudly, banged the security device closed, slid his hand around DiNozzo's neck, and kissed him. DiNozzo's lips parted without question. It wasn't a romantic kiss. It was more like a businesslike kiss, but that didn't mean Gibbs didn't enjoy it, with the tongue and the teeth and DiNozzo's lower lip, which Gibbs always liked to tease. He worked his way up to DiNozzo's ear and bit his earlobe gently.

The author has woven together a first meeting for Volpe and Kowalski from a failed arrest - dealing sugar on the streets of Chicago! - in Kowalski's first days at the 27th. This Volpe is smart, confident and smooth - his voice and attitude particularly well done for someone so briefly alive - but with the underlying steel of a criminal with aspirations. Kowalski is his somewhat edgy self, circling Volpe like a moth towards a flame. Welsh, the background and the criminal plot are all well crafted and concludes with a wary truce between the two. Fandom: X-FILES Pairing: Mulder/Skinner Author on LJ: unknown Author Website: quercus/Lemon DropWhy this must be read: This story has an odd narrative voice, somehow detached and passionate the same time. It's written from Scully's POV, and it focuses on the ways that she and (as the story develops) Skinner relate to Mulder. When the story opens, Mulder and Scully have been sent on a profiling assignment, but Mulder is falling apart. I hesitate to describe the plot from there because it ends up sounding very pat and boring and overdone Muldertorture-y, but this story has an entirely different feel to it. It's wonderful set of stories that shines the spotlight on Nathan, an often overlooked character in this fandom.
Nathan rubbed his hands together, embarrassed and concerned as he watched Ezra scrutinize the pieces. “I just thought, since the wood was dark…” Jackson didn’t know how to go about explaining why he made the black pieces they way he did. It was ridiculous really. He’d never seen anyone carve African features on a chess piece. He’d never seen a representation of someone of his race that didn’t include rolling eyes, fat lips and a wide toothy grin. He’d never seen a realistic portrayal of a black man before he created these pieces. It made him feel more real just to see these images come into being.
