02:30 pm Wouldn't You Like To Get Away by Doyle (PG)
Fandom: DOCTOR WHO
Pairing: None
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] doyle_sb4
Author Website: Hall of Mirrors
Why this must be read:

Doctor Who fandom: The place where the crack is canon. And thus, so is the fandom. I mean, what other fandom would hold a ficathon for a character who won't actually be seen for another six months? And thus we had the Marthathon, a ficathon about Martha Jones, the upcoming companion for Series Three. Because this fandom is just that mad.

One if my personal favourites of the Marthathon was this fic, set after Martha has left (yes, it's set after the departure of a character we have never seen. Just go with it, okay?) And it's a lovely exploration of how being a companion of the Doctor can change you, as well as what the Doctor and companion mean to one another. Plus, it has a lovely characterisation for Martha, and some truly hilarious dialogue.

06:47 pm The Greatest of These by Vivien (PG-13)
Fandom: GOOD OMENS
Pairing: Crowley/Aziraphale
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] vivien529 (Vivien)
Author Website: Skyehawke Account (all other fiction is Harry Potter-related)
Why this must be read:

"The Hosts were assembled for the Great War, the Last Battle, three rounds, one Fall, and no submission. And absolutely no last minute reprieves - not this time." So begins "The Greatest of These" - a satisfyingly long and rich story about the actual Apocalypse and the demon who's no more prepared to lose those things that are important to him than he was the first time around.

This time, however, the thing that Crowley is most unwilling to lose is Aziraphale. If only there was a way for the two of them to escape to a place where neither Heaven nor Hell could ever find them....

09:56 pm Sincerely by Pru (PG)
Fandom: ANGEL
Pairing: Wes/Gunn vibes
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] rageprufrock
Author Website: glitterati

Why this must be read:
I like the Fred POV in this one, and the befuddled Angel, and the Wes/Gunn vibes make me very happy. If you need a more satisfying resolution to the Cordelia story arc than offered in canon, try this piece.

Sincerely

11:02 pm Lost and Found by Circe (PG-13)
Fandoms: ANGEL and also BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER
Pairing: Fred/Willow
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] circe_tigana
Author Website: all manner of outrageous villany

Why this must be read:
This story appeals because it explores the canon meeting (and attraction) between Willow Rosenburg and Fred Burkle. I'd like to think that things could have gone this way in a better world.

11:20 pm Satellite Trails by Doyle (PG-13)
Fandom: ANGEL
Pairing: Fred/Faith
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] doyle_sb4
Author Website: exitseraphim.net

Why this must be read:
The Fred in this story is adorable in her sexual confusion. And for someone who's never been a huge Fred fan to say that, you know it's a cute story.
