Hi, I'm lydia_petze and I'll be pimping for this month's RPS fandom - U2. The timing could not have been more appropriate, what with their stalled Vertigo tour getting its motor running again as we speak :-) Anyways, a brief overview, as I'm sure these guys don't need much in the way of introduction: ( the boys )

Fandom: U2 Pairing: Adam Clayton/Larry Mullen, Jr Author on LJ: melissa2uAuthor Website: Love is Blindness or u2slash, and please note, to join you must be over eighteen years of age AND have your birth year on your profile page. Why this must be read:
Larry's drawing Adam a map. Adam just needs to connect the dots. And with this simple premise, away we go on that sort of gentle, loving story that this fandom turns out so well. Larry is a man of few words - he's more about deeds and even people who've known him forever are sometimes running to catch up with what's going on in his head and his heart.
Twenty-odd years ago, Adam was there when Larry needed to lean on him, and, in his own quiet way, Larry's trying to tell Adam that he needs him again. This story makes marginal use of the real-life drama the guys had when they were young - by tragic coincidence, both Larry's and Bono's mothers died suddenly when the boys were only in their teens. In this story, another loss, less sudden but no less painful, threatens to overtake Larry, who's borne it alone for too long. Adam blames himself for not seeing it sooner; Larry's stoicism has carried him this far, but no further, and he's thankful when he can finally let it go. And just because Larry doesn't talk much doesn't mean he doesn't talk ever, it just means a lot more when he eventually does.
This is a story that is all about the meaning of friendship, what happens when a lifelong love is suddenly realised, and a little h/c besides.

Fandom: ANGEL Pairing: Angel/Spike Author on LJ: n/a[Unknown site tag] Author Website: without gravity Why this fic must be read: There are a lot of post-Not Fade Away fics out there. This is one of the good ones. The dialogue is spot-on, particularly Spike's, and the characterizations are absolutely beautiful, particularly Angel's. A lot of the fics in this genre attempt to deal with the feeling of let-down after the final battle, and this one gets it right. There's Angel, and there's Spike, and although neither of them is quite human enough for the other, they really don't have anyone else. The use of language in this story gives it a flavour of both urgency and malaise, of the world coming to an end and of a desperate eternity stretching itself out. There is also somehow the implication that things are not entirely lost, that the broken pieces can be put together into some semblance of peace, even if it will never be a comfortable one. Big Exit (Hi. I'm auberus, your driver for Angel this month. I read pretty much everything, so the recs will be fairly eclectic. Hopefully, there will be something for everybody.)

Hi I am feenixandashes, and I will be your driver for the NCIS fandom this month.
My focus will be on the sexual relationship between Gibbs and Ducky. This fandom pairing may be small in numbers compared to the fandom of Gibbs/DiNozzo, But the authors of this pairing are coming out with some wonderful fics illustrating the closeness of this couple that is so visual in canon.
So without more ado I present my first reccomendation for those who are familiar with this paring and for those who may wonder.
Fandom: NCIS Pairing: Leroy Jethro Gibbs/Doctor Donald "Ducky" Mallard Author on LJ: causticquery Author Website: Gibbs/Ducky Archives Why this must be read: Beatae Memoriae, meaning Blessed Memory, is one of those fics which captures almost every emotion in one read. Causticquery's use of language gives even us a visual tense and powerful look into one man's dreams and nightmares. We travel and feel every aspect of Gibbs' journey, his suffering, and erratic helplessness. The pace of the piece flows due to the author's use of particularly well judged adjectives and verbs and we are clearly not disappointed as we reach the end of this story. Beatae Memoriae
