Why this must be read:
Hippocratic Oath is one of my favourite stories from willow_barby. She is so tuned in with the characterization and the pace of the fic is fast and furious when the drama peaks.
In this Ducky faces a personal dilemma that is at odds with his professional status. In this piece Ducky has to deal with someone who is a threat not only to him and Jethro but also to many other innocents.
The story starts of with a much needed holiday that turns into a hell of a ride. In 1948 in Geneva a modern version of the oath was drawn up by the World
Medical Association.
At the time of being admitted a member of the medical profession:
I solemnly pledge myself to consecrate my life to the service of humanity;
I will give my teachers the respect and gratitude which is their due;
I will practice my profession with conscience and dignity;
The health of my patient will be my first consideration;
I will respect the secrets which are confided in me, even after the patient has died;
I will maintain by all the means in my power, the honour and the noble traditions of the medical profession;
My colleagues will be my brothers;
I will not permit considerations of religion, nationality, race, party politics or social standing to intervene between my duty and my patients.

Why this must be read:
Judging the Future was the first Gibbs/Ducky fic from Sharpiesgal who is better known for her CSI Miami fics which are wonderful to read
However I am concentrating on this particular NCIS fic whereby a drama which happened in his childhood has particular reference for Gibbs in his adult life today.
Sharpiesgal shows us that events in our childhood can still affect us deeply in our adulthood to the point of crippling us. However Gibbs' crutch comes in the form of his ever there partner. "I have a confession to make, Duck," Jethro said as he joined his lover in
bed.
"And what is that dearest?" Ducky inquired, gently. He snuggled into Jethro's
embrace content to be held by the younger man.
"I lied to the team today."

Fandom: DOCTOR WHO Pairing: Ninth Doctor/Rose Author on LJ: the_royal_annaAuthor Website: Daisy DazeWhy this must be read: A wee little coda to Parting of the Ways, a possibility of what could have happened in Marbella, where the Doctor suggested they could run away to rather than fight the Daleks. It's absolutely lovely, with gorgeous writing and imagery, it's utterly true to the characters, and it's even got a bit of humour and is still very observationally sharp and heartbreaking a year on from that finale. There's so much light, Rose observes, and in a few more well-chosen words, the relationship and Rose's character are perfectly summed up. Marbella, 1989 | | |

Why this must be read:Because it's Bono/Larry? Oh, not good enough? OK, let me 'splain :-) This is good old break-up fic (but fear not!), full of angst and mixed messages and ill communication and misunderstandings and good intentions paving the road to hell and heartbreak and emotions running high and...anyway. It's told from Bono's point of view, and guys, if you were to look up "unreliable narrator" in a lit textbook you could find this story. If it wasn't, you know. Fanfiction. And RPS at that. Ahem. It's set during the Berlin sessions for the Achtung Baby album, which, as any fan could tell you, were fraught with creative, emotional and interpersonal problems for the band. Clandestine has chosen very well to set it here, in a period where tensions were already running at a fever pitch. The last thing anyone needs right now is a meltdown on Bono's part or a closing off on Larry's, and the Edge and Adam of this story (especially the Adam) are perhaps a little less patient and less inclined to put up with any nonsense than they might be in a story by another author. Understandably so, particularly given some of Our Hero's behaviour, excuse though he may have. This fic is something of a rollercoaster, but like any good rollercoaster, it's well worth the ride. I am just *stoked* that she finished it in time for me to rec it here!
