Why this must be read:

This may be another ink blot story; I remember reading it way back when, and sending the link to a friend of mine, and immediately ending up in an hour-long argument about whether Cam really is that whiny. My take: he's not whiny. Dammit. He's complex, and new at a lot of this, and carries the weight of the hero-thing very heavily on his chest. This story shows us that Cam, all working very neatly within early season 9 canon. Mitchell doesn't really get Vala, and she doesn't really get him, but they worry about each other anyway. And he's *not* whiny. At all.

"What’s a two-point?" She turns the ball in her hands, examining it.

"Nothing you can sell," he says, holds out his hand for the ball.

She tucks it under her arm. "So, we’re supposed to run around in little circles and get this through another little circle? This game is utterly without point."

Why this must be read:

Apparenty today is SG-1 whumping day in my head. Sorry. Anyway - Sam, Cam, and bruises and booty calls. Stories dealing with exactly *how* Cameron and Sam might have known each other before Avalon are my favourite crack. Especially when there's kissing. Kellifer makes this one bittersweet, with a lovely version of Cam, patient but not blind.

She’s done a circuit of the room now and this has led her back to him, standing in the doorway, leaning against the frame. She walks right up and steps on his feet and even though she’s tall, somehow she folds herself so that she fits neatly with her head under his chin.

“You’re heavy,” he says, just for something to say.

“I bet you say that to all the girls,” she sighs, but the sound is fond.

Pairing: Bono/The Edge

Author Website: Love Is Blindness
Why this must be read:

Because I'm not a fan of monologuing and this one still slew me. Bono's taken himself off to the USA, alone, to drive cross-country and talk something out to Edge, through a portable recorder. The wonderful thing about this first person monologue is that the narrator is privy to information we're not. All we can really tell at the outset is that he's trying to sort out his feelings and get his head around something that's happened, and we only learn what as the natural ebb and flow of his thoughts and feelings are laid down on the recording. As he gradually talks himself through his confusion, we learn more about what he was confused about. Likeamadonna has Bono just about pitch-perfect - one thing the man can do, after all, is talk.
