Fandom: DC COMICS Pairing: none Author on LJ:inlovewithnight Author Website: Exaggeration and Blank Verse Why this must be read:One of my favorite DC Comics titles was Gotham Central, which was unfortunately cancelled. The view of Gotham's crazy villains and crazy vigilantes through the eyes of the police officers struggling to keep the city together was unflinchingly and thrillingly drawn, and the cases had the ring of verisimilitude filtered through Gotham. This story is like another scene from that title, and the richly nuanced voice written for Renee Montoya made me love a character I was already deeply fond of all the more. All that and a young Mr. Grayson, but not the one you might think. Excerpt: This is so far out in left field, she ought to end this here and now and send him back to the street. Or come up with some charge so they can hold him. Either way, she needs to take control back, needs to break this rhythm and spell he seems to be weaving. Every instinct she has says so.

I've somehow ended up driving the van for two fandoms at once this month, so I'm feeling a bit schizophrenic. The way you can tell the posts apart is that SGA is all about the aliens-making-them-do-it, and NCIS is all about the crime... Fandom: NCIS Pairing: None Author on LJ: kikkimaxAuthor Website: Kikki's FanficWhy this must be read: This long, plotty story isn't slash, but, oh, the subtext is so there, just as it is in the show. It's also one of the best written stalker stories I've read in any fandom. All kudos to Kikki for that, as it's a hard premise to do well, but she's created a thoroughly engaging, gotta-read-more adventure that nails the characters and leaves you feeling really satisfied.
