12:29 am Seasons of the Emperor's Regret by hossgal (PG)
Hi, PDX here for the next go on driving the Farscape Van. Sorry for the late start, I'm not sure where the days go. I love Farscape heart and soul and it's an absolute joy to have such wonderful fic to read.

So, here we are again. Sit down, hang on and don't forget to feed the authors. I know it warms their hearts.

Fandom: FARSCAPE
Pairing: n/a
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] hossgal
Author Website: hossgal's fic homepage
Why this must be read:
I'm really glad I have another of [livejournal.com profile] hossgal's fics to rec. She is a writer who never fails to amaze me with her storytelling. With beautiful world building and vivid descriptions she puts you right in the middle of every story.

Some characters in Farscape get all the love. This is a story of one who doesn't. You may hate him, you may love him. Guaranteed you'll be touched by this.

Moya made one pass with the docking web, the ship snatching you up like a broad-finned predator of the open sea – diving to pluck you and your burden from the planet's surface, and then racing back up through atmosphere. The speed was incredible, pinning you against the hawser cables with the wind of her passing. The infant sat on your chest like a stone.

08:52 am Likeness by the-dala (unrated but probably PG-13)
Fandom: PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN
Pairing: Will Turner/Elizabeth Swann/James Norrington
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] the_dala
Author Website: Livejournal memories
Why this must be read: Remember how I was saying that Pirates is the polyest fandom ever? Here’s some more evidence of it, in the form of lovely threesome fluff.
Elizabeth has given birth to her first child, John William Turner, and, perhaps by happy coincidence, the boy bears a likeness to several people. Although this story has been Jossed to hell by AWE (do we *have* an equivalent to “Jossed” in this fandom? TnTed?), it’s message still rings true: “it makes no difference whose look John may have, whose blood, for it is certain that he has love more bountiful than any pirate's gold.” Oh, and Weatherby would be the best, proudest grandpa ever.

08:28 pm From Faithless Skin and Freefalling by Vi (R)
Fandom: Smallville
Pairing: Gen
Author's LJ: [livejournal.com profile] vylit
Author's website: Between the Stars

Why this must be read:

I am not usually a fan of Clark, but this fic makes me empathise with Clark, and worry for who Clark is, and who he might become. This Clark is flawed, and petty, and he knows it.

10:14 pm The Search for Connor by Dae (PG-15)
HIGHLANDER:
Pairing: Duncan/Methos (Pre-slash)
Author on LJ: Not Known
Author Website:Seventh Dimension
Why this must be read: This story has three great relationships that all ring true; Connor meeting Methos, a pre-slash Duncan / Methos friendship and the clear demonstration of kinship between Duncan and Connor. Add in a Ramirez flashback and an interesting plot and you have a story worth reading

11:52 pm Art Cannot Be Tamed by Mirabile Dictu (PG-13)
Hi, I'm Kat and I'll be driving the LOTRiPS van this month. For reasons that don't bear exploring at this juncture, I'm off to a late start this month, but I'm starting nonetheless! And I'm starting with gen, as I am wont. I'll be moving on to slash of various flavors and some odder things soon, but I wanted to begin with a story that was everything to do with the bonds forged during filming and after at their most basic. Hope y'all enjoy.

Fandom: LOTRiPS
Pairing: none
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] mirabile_dictu
Author Website: Mira's Fanfiction
Why this must be read: Everything Mira writes is beautiful, as I'm sure anybody who's spent any amount of time in this fandom knows. But some of the things she writes best are the complex webs of relationships that bind people together and their distant futures that most of us never imagine. This story is strong on both those counts and possessed of her usual marked depth of feeling to boot. There is death, yes - its aftereffects pervade the story, but that should not stop you reading. For, in the end, the message the story sends is one worth hearing - now, certainly, and always.
