Why this must be read: This rather old-school fic was first published almost ten years ago, but it still has the power to break my heart. Written during the depths of the cancer arc, this story is a powerful description of two people who desperately love one another but who have been subsumed by so much sorrow that this love has become desperate, hopeless. This is the cancer arc in all its brilliant, heart-rending horror. (You'll see at least one more cancer fic from me before the end of the month.)

Incidentally, you should also read "A World To Save" (also by Geb)--a unique and gorgeous post-col.

Why this must be read:

As far as I know, Loretta Ross is no longer writing for MfU (if I'm wrong, I'd be delighted to hear it) but back in the day she was one of the fandom's great comic writers. “The Till Death Do Us Part Affair” is more serious, but it's my own favourite of her many excellent stories. This is partly because it's such a pleasure to see Napoleon, a man who gets through women at the rate Thrush gets through employees, find his love 'em and leave 'em strategy back-firing, but also because the fic is very well-plotted (in the manner of a classic mystery, Napoleon stumbles across the solution well before he realises it) and cleverly told from shifting perspectives.

Why this must be read:
I tend to like character vignettes, little short pieces in which one learns more about what's going on through what isn't said than what is. Here's a perfect little gem from Vader's point of view, about his relationship with his former master.
