Fandom: Prince of TennisPairing: [Seigaku] Tezuka Kunimitzu/Fuji Syusuke Author: anjenueWebsite: N/A Rating: [R] Sex Why this fic must be read: PWP with suspense and strongly defined characters. anjenue focuses in so sharply on an interesting dynamic between Tezuka and Fuji, that the steamy activity they engage in becomes intensified and, at times, painful, but never gratuitous. Eyes Wide Open.

Vidder: Klia Musical artist: Gnarls Barclay Pairing: none Vidder on LJ: n/a Vidder's website: http://klia.imeem.com/Why this vid kicks ass: I confess that I'm a fic addict in this fandom and I despaired of actually finding a vid out there to rec for the Friday Night Drive-in. The irony of that statement is that there are a number of wonderful vids in the fandom, but here I have to choose only one. This vid is just amazing. Klia has done a stunning job of putting all of Sam's 'mad' moments together into a coherent whole and giving us all a taste of what is going on *in there*. Crazy

Fandom: THE PERSUADERS! Pairing: Danny Wilde/Lord Brett Sinclair Author on LJ: sarrenWhy this must be read:I wasn't going to rec another yuletide fic and this messes up the chronological-in-series order thing I was going for, but on second thoughts I just can't resist. This is an episode tag for the pilot, Overture, and it absolutely captures that first casual frenzy of their initial fighting-and-flirting, the POV and voices and visuals just making the whole thing happen under your eyes, and it's got a fun take on Brett's sexuality – a less usual one but which really plays off the combination of what we see on screen and what we were supposed to see (because, really, both characters are supposed to be straight. Right? I think? Probably? Somehow?) (Brett, at least?) It's funny and fun and just, oh, very them and very that particular moment in the series, with Brett's smugness and orange shirt and their mutual cruising. Yay! ( excerpt )Persuasion

Vidder: Mamoru Musical artist: Aqua Pairing: None Vidder on LJ: mamoru22Vidder's website: The CellWhy this vid kicks ass: I knew right from the start that I wanted to include some meta vids in this set, and no one does meta vids like Mamoru. In fact, the challenge was to pick which one I wanted to rec! In the end I chose "Cartoon Heroes" because it stands alone without any need for knowledge of the Stargate canon or fandom. And also, of course, because it is supremely awesome and hilarious. Of course the characters in these shows are cartoon heroes, and Mamoru makes the point with so much style. Vidder: Hsiu Musical artist: n/a Pairing: several Vidder on LJ: thermopylae_hVidder's website: Isn't It JollyWhy this vid kicks ass: Tamora Pierce fandom is book-based, which means we don't get music videos. This is a shame, but we have hilariously funny comics that it would be a crime not to share instead. thermolylae_h has a sense of humor that just ... it's amazing, and irreverant, and perfectly suited to goodhearted mockery of Pierce's books, situations and characters. My favorites are her "Tortallans do it better" and caitiedidit's guest-comic, "Domitan to the rescue!"

Vidder: Raemie Musical artist: Basement Jaxx Pairing: Gen Vidder on LJ: raemiemooVidder's website: None that I know of Why this vid kicks ass:It's rather difficult to make a serious Fake News vid as it is The Daily Show and The Colbert Report, and even more difficult to find any fanvids due to The Great YouTube Purge of '07. Thankfully, this vid still managed to be up and it's one of my favorite Fake News vids. It's silly, humorous and entertaining, just like the Fake News Hour always is. Vidder: Weslyn Musical artist: 65daysofstatic Pairing: None (though I suppose one could view it with shippy goggles) Vidder on LJ: weslynVidder's website: Vidder's profile on YouTubeWhy this vid kicks ass:This is a beautiful vid that provides a great overview of Harry and his relationships. I love how the music is done with Harry as a child, it's a little sad but still innocent. As an adult, things are much darker and more complex, and the music reflects that. He uses black magic to save a friend, complicating their relationship. He works with Morgan while still being somewhat at odds with him. He's haunted by his father's and uncle's deaths. He discovers the depth of Bob's loyalty. The whole vid is fantastic, but there are some particularly well done moments with the music and the imagery. I love that the only dialog we hear is Malcolm's warning to Harry about doing things he isn't going to want to do, and then going from that to Harry performing black magic. There is a brief moment when the vid flashes on Harry's father while Murphy is trying to save her own father, and that struck me in particular. This is my favorite Dresden Files vid and I hope you will enjoy it. Aren't We All Running

Fandom: LIFE ON MARS Pairing: None Author on LJ: blancaficAuthor Website: blancaficWhy this must be read:This is another 'set in 2006' fic. Set post episode 1.08, it contains spoilers for the first series only. Sam has woken up after several months in a coma, but can no longer remember his experiences in 1973. But vivid dreams have a habit of bleeding through to the consciousness, can Sam work out what they mean? This is a beautiful fic, long and satisfying. It does what a lot of the fandom had hoped would happen – gives Sam and Gene a happy ever after. ( Excerpt )ContextPart OnePart TwoPart ThreePart FourPart Five and Epilogue
