Fandom: Hot Fuzz Pairing: Nicholas/Danny Length: ~2500 words Author on LJ: calatheaAuthor Website: plant fiction Why this must be read: I really wish calathea would write more in this fandom because she has a fantastic ear for Danny-voice. She also brings that touch of whimsy that the movie employed, but did not exploit. I mean, one would never guess that a flame thrower and man-eating plant would fit so well in Fuzz-verse (well, perhaps the flame thrower), but fit they do, and seamlessly. This is also the first story I'm featuring which contains the other members of the Sandford Police Service, and here she surprises by fitting in all their quirks without becoming cartoonish in her depiction of them. ( The intro as brief taster: )Go, enjoy, ignore the rising pitch of the flugelhorns as you near... Fade to Black

Fandom: PRIMEVAL Pairing: Abby/Connor Length: one-shot, ~2000 words Author on LJ: spoons1899Author Website: account on ff.netWhy this must be read:There isn't a lot of Abby/Connor in this fandom, unfortunately, which is a pity because the pair of them are incredibly cute and funny and touching together. But even in canon that cuteness is tempered with something a little more angsty, and a little more bitter, and spoons1899 fleshes that out in this lovely little fic, which is one of my favourites for this pairing. It's set post series 2, after ( spoilers for series 2 ) But what starts out as a way of forgetting ends up as a way of connecting and finding a way forwards. Masquerade

Hello! secondalto here, starting off a month of delicious Chuck recs! I'm mostly a Chuck/Casey girl, but I have a few others that will hopefully tempt and delight you! Fandom: Chuck Pairing: Chuck/Casey Length: @5000 words Author on LJ: fiareynne Author Website: Agents ProvocateursWhy this must be read: Because Fia is the godmother of Chuck/Casey fic. Her characterization is spot on and frequently more consistent than the writers'. Because she makes Chuck smart, Casey vunerable and brings in the supporting cast in ways that don't make them seem intrusive. Bedbugs (and it's relevant universe) is one of the best in Chuck/Casey fic. Casey listens in on Chuck. Chuck knows. Chuck listens right back, even when Casey trashes the bugs. It's romance, it's angst and it's perfect. Bedbugs and the rest of the Bedbugs 'verse.

Fandom: PROS (THE PROFESSIONALS) Pairing: Bodie/Doyle Length: 4,800~ Author on LJ: veronicaluv Author Website: aithineWhy this must be read: Because no one writes a kiss or a hug quite like her. And how she takes a quiet moment of exhaustion post a bloody-op and turns it into something else entirely, is so quietly moving that right along with an uncertain Bodie you’ll hold your breath a little. And there’s aftermath too; a time jump forward, where consequences, reckonings, and a whispered promise come due. It’s romantic as hell, and it’s still the lads. The gal’s a genius. It was an innocuous movement on Bodie's part that had forever shifted their world off its axis. Ray had been standing at his kitchen sink, staring out the window, an untasted cup of tea cooling in one bruised and torn hand. Conversation between them had dwindled and died and Bodie, measuring out the last ounces of his fading energy, announced that he was going home. He'd murmured his goodbye and when Doyle failed to reply, had reached around him to set his own cup on the counter. For some reason, Doyle had chosen that moment to rouse himself and take a step back. Bodie, turning away from the counter, saw the motion and instinctively flung out his arm, thinking Ray was going to collide with him. But instead of being startled and stepping aside, Ray had pressed into Bodie, and Bodie had found himself giving in to a previously undefined but suddenly undeniable impulse to wrap his arms around his partner.Boundless

Fandom: AMERICAN IDOLSLASH (SEASON 7) Pairing: David Cook/Jason Castro aka Cookstro Length: 1653 word count one-shot Author on LJ: ovidien Author Website: Fiction at three, Author's Tag at Cookstro, Author's Page at Castrofics Why this must be read:From the responses to the fandom overview, I gather that most people are familiar with Cookleta. However, Cookstro has quickly become my personal favorite ship because of authors like Ovidien. In fact, I wouldn't call Ovidien so much an author as she is an artist. She paints beautiful pictures with her words of poetry. 'Number One Summer Jam' is a prime example of her poetic prose. Beautifully written, she introduces the readers to the world of David Cook and invites them to take a glimpse in the mind of David Cook as he muses over his infatuation for Jason Castro .
