Sorry, I'm a little late. Was on a concert. Erm... it's still Friday SOMEWHERE *cough*Vidder: WOnky19 Musical artist: Nerdee Pairing: unrequited Gibbs/DiNozzo, could be seen as friendship Vidder on LJ: N/A Vidder's website: Profile on YouTubeWhy this vid kicks ass:The cutting, the editing, the setting, the spin this video takes on scenes from the show – it all fits together so nicely. It tells us the story of Tony who tries to gain Gibbs' approval, if not his love and yet he feels inadequate. But somehow the video leaves us with hope that Gibbs isn't as oblivious to Tony's feelings as he thinks. The video is from 2007, therefore has no spoilers beyond Season 4. Cold

Vidder: Heathenseyes Musical artist: Kasey Chambers and Shane Nicholson Pairing: None - The whole Seven Vidder on LJ: heathenseyesVidders website: Her YouTube channel is Here. Why this vid must be watchedThis was one of the first Magnificent Seven vids I watched when I came into the fandom and is a great look at the Seven through the episodes of Season one. It captures many of our boys in their most vulnerable moments and provides a great introduction to the fandom for those who know nothing about it. The choice of music really fits the subject matter and the vidder matches the scenes to the lyrics very well. Hard trails ahead

Fandom: THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. Pairing: Napoleon/Illya Length: 3,500 words Author on LJ: unknown Author Website: Taliesin's ReachWhy this must be read: The mission is over, the bad guys have been vanquished and Napoleon is out on the town with a beautiful woman leaving Illya to sleep in their hotel room. All is as it should be. Until Napoleon returns to their shared room early and extremely intoxicated, plopping down on his bed in the dark to stare at his sleeping partner. This story has everything I love about the boys and their fan fiction - angst, longing, love, tenderness, strong characterizations and a happy ending. Illya's sigh filling his lungs, Napoleon set about a greedy exploration of his partner's scantily clad body. He was drunk, and clumsy with it, but what resulted was not the debased techniques of seduction, but a soul-searingly earnest hesitance. Like a groom on his wedding night, he fumbled for perfection and unintentionally brought forth love.Drunk and Disorderly

Fandom: LIFE ON MARS Pairing: Sam Tyler/Gene Hunt, Sam/OMC Length: Longish, ~10,000 words Author on LJ: kittyfisher Author Website: Links to various fic sites in her profileWhy this must be read: As far as I'm aware, this is kittyfisher's only LoM fic and by God, it's a brilliant, doozey, gut wrenching piece of fic. It doesn't start out horribly - Sam and Gene trapped in various "boxes" - wardrobes, vans, bedsits, etc. - by a group of nasty crims. By part two, it evolves into a dark, seedy affair with Sam/Gene is it/isn't non-con and possible life ending violence. It'd dark, oh yes, but beautifully written. Warnings for non-con, violence, angst. Boxes: Part 1 Boxes: Part 2

Fandom: HEROES Pairing: none; gen Length: ~6000 words Warnings: some violence Author on LJ: anywherebeyondAuthor Website: fic journal: sameoldhopeWhy this must be read: Like I said, I love "five things" fics. :) This was written during Season One, I believe, but it's not particularly S1-specific and all of the stories could take place currently. Part of what's so great about this fic is how in-character everyone is: Noah, Micah, Sylar himself, Peter ... they're all marvelously fleshed-out in a relatively short period of time. Not only that, it's inventive: each story is so different, and the details of each situation really stand out. ( Excerpt. )Five Games Sylar Never Played

Fandom: TORCHWOOD Pairing: Ianto/Owen (canon, implied Ianto/Jack) Length: One Shot. 26 drabbles. Author on LJ: strangecreatureWhy this must be read:Ianto/Owen is not always an easy sell; in this story, the pairing is not only believable, but inevitable. The team carries on without Jack, during the Year That Never Was. Strangecreature's writing is as precise as a scalpel, and each one of these interconnected drabbles contains a single, sharp insight into the characters. By the end of the fic, you've been cut to the bone. "The thing about sleeping with Owen was that you had to get your guard back up before you’d even caught your breath afterwards." Fandom: TORCHWOOD Pairing: Jack/Toshiko Length: One Shot Author on LJ: dirty_dianaWhy this must be read:Toshiko is probably the most overlooked character in the verse, and good Jack het fic is hard to come by in any case. A deftly written what-if, this is the story they might share in the 1940's, intermingling with flashes of the now. Diana shows us glimpses of Jack and Toshiko's relationship that are poignant and tender, but have just enough punch to make you ache. Interestingly enough, that's the way Tosh's canon always felt to me onscreen, so I found this to be a wonderful tribute. "There are habits that you don't lose. Jack sleeps lightly, like a nineteen year old too close to enemy lines, under a sky that is too bright for nighttime, when every sound could be a siren." Like Water

Aiee, my recs hardly have Dooku in them. Have to remedy that right now! Fandom: STAR WARS Pairing: Dooku/Qui-Gon Length: not too long Author: Little Owl On lj: the_little_owlAuthor Website: unknown; she has some of her stories on Masters and Apprentices and others on her lj WARNINGS: male/male sex, totally AU Why this must be read: Although it's completely AU I think she has captured Dooku, a younger Dooku, very well. The story is funny, witty (Dooku witty *g* since it's all from his POV) and tells a charming tale. Who knew vulcano watching could be so entertaining? Certainly not Dooku! Of course it all depends on who you're watching with. And it has pictures!!!! ( Excerpt )Vulcano lover

Fandom: DUE SOUTH Pairing: Benton Fraser/Ray Kowalski, Benton Fraser/Ray Kowalski/Ray Vecchio Length: Long, ~38,000 words in 18 parts. Complete. Author on LJ: mikes_grrlAuthor Website: Master Fic ListWhy this must be read: Take two Rays and a Mountie, add one deaf half-wolf, one sweet Rottweiler, and one Maine Coon cat and what to do you get? A damn good story. mikes_grrl created a wonderful, plotty story that is well-paced and very believeable. She starts things rolling with Ray Kowalski and Fraser as an established couple, with Ray still working the mean streets of Chicago while Fraser defends the honor of Canada at the Consulate. Add Ray Vecchio, still lost and floundering after Vegas and his whirlwind marriage to Stella, and watch as the relationship dynamics shift and change, balanced on a knife's edge and threatening to tear down the relationships they've all struggled so hard to build. mikes_grrl has a deft touch with the humor and the drama and her characterizations are spot on. A very enjoyable, solid story that shouldn't be missed. Go read it now. You won't regret it. ( Short excerpt... )Like Cats And Dogs - Part One - at the beginning of each section there are links to the previous chapters and at the end of each section there is a link to the next chapter.

Fandom: Magnificent Seven Pairing: Vin/Ezra, Chris/Buck Author on LJ: conjured_1Author's website: Pepper's Magnificent Seven FanficWhy this fic must be readIt's hard to make the familiar fresh, but the author achieves it with this story. She has taken the familiar, the movie The Breakfast Club, and given it a Magnificent Seven twist. Each one of our characters is there within the story, even some of the minor or offscreen characters appear. The dialogue from the original movie is used throughout; and I like the way the author has tweaked it to make the story uniquely hers. Breakfast Club: Mag7 Style
