Fandom: BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER/ANGEL
Pairing: Harmony/OMC
Length:  24,852 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] aadler
Author Website: Aadler's Fan Fiction
Why this must be read:

Takes place post-Disharmony.  Harmony's car breaks down which leads to her getting  involved in a case of mistaken identity and sticking with it to the not so bitter end. Comic gold and has a great Harmony voice.

“Ask anybody from Sunnydale, they’ll tell you Buffy Summers is the biggest slut in southern California. Now you know why.”.

08:03 am Love's Austere and Lonely Offices by Brighid (NC-17)
Happy Solstice and Happy Father's Day if you celebrate it!

Fandom: THE SENTINEL
Pairing: Blair/Jim
Length: 28K
Author on LJ: [personal profile] mz_bstone
Author Website: Brighid at 852 prospect

Why this must be read:   It’s a terrific Father’s Day story by the talented Brighid.   Told from Blair’s POV, who is now a detective and life partners with Jim, the dynamics of a dysfunctional family in crisis unfold.

It’s the middle of the night when Jim gets a call that his dad has had a stroke. Because father and son are once again estranged, this time because of William’s attitude toward their relationship, there are a *lot* of mixed feelings:

William Ellison was horrified. Not that he came right out and said so, but he withdrew almost perceptibly that night at dinner, couldn't look either of us in the eye, and left as soon as it was reasonably polite to do so. Shortly after, the invitations to dinner and golf just sort of dried up.

And Jim got madder and madder, until I couldn't even bring up the subject of his father, couldn't even acknowledge he existed. Until tonight.

Until now, sitting in a hospital waiting room, wondering if William Ellison is going to live through the night.

Blair, brave in all things, steps into the fray. Luckily for William and Jim, Blair knows how to handle stubborn Ellison men. How they deal with the hard knocks Life is throwing their ways makes for a lovely read. The poem from which the title is taken is included, and adds to the poignancy of the tale.

Happy Father’s Day to all who fill those shoes, or try to.

11:58 am Physician, heal thyself by puritybrown (G)
Fandom: STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION
Pairing: None
Length: one-shot
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] puritybrown
Author Website: The my fanfic tag on her livejournal
Why this must be read:

If there's one thing I wanted to see on the show, it was MOAR GUINAN. She brightened every episode she appeared in. Luckily, [livejournal.com profile] puritybrown has constructed a perfect Guinan pov to help us along. She manages to strike just the right balance between sharing too little and too much of what goes on in the enigmatic bartender's head. Guinan wouldn't be Guinan without her mysterious past, and watching her here, expertly deflecting questions about herself, makes me appreciate her all over again. (She's not bad with the helping of hapless Ensigns, either. Not bad at all.)

04:53 pm Teal'c's five favorite board games by Paian (PG)
Fandom: STARGATE SG-1
Pairing: None
Length: ~2800 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] paian
Author Website: http://paian.dreamwidth.org/tag/fic:+all+fic
Why this must be read:

Paian uses a seemingly innocuous Five Things prompt to delve into Teal'c (his thoughts on his life on Earth, his history, his approach to life) in a way few writers in Stargate fandom ever manage to do. Wonderfully written and perfectly characterized Teal'c.

06:13 pm Ten Incomplete Regressions by sequitur (PG)
Fandom: NCIS
Characters/Pairings: Tony DiNozzo
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] sequitur_fic
Author Website: website
Why this must be read: This sequel to "Ten Non-Linear Moves" I love, because a) I am a complete sucker for teamfic and b) I am a complete sucker for Tony-as-Leader, because I love stories which really explore how competant he is as both an investigator and a leader, rather than falling for the facade of Rat-Pack-Wannabe he uses as a defence mechanism. Sequitur has such an increibly TIGHT control of language, and clear strong image of who these people are that comes through so clearly in her stories. I love the delicate way it explores Gibbs and Tony's relationship in particular. (Also, the "Sports Night" ref broke me.)

06:13 pm No One More Than You by dress without sleeves (PG)
Fandom: NCIS
Characters/Pairings: Ziva/Tony
Author on LJ: [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]
Author Website: website
Why this must be read: I'm really love the way their relationship is shown not just through how they feel about each other as a man and a woman, but almost moee importantly, as partners. I particularly love her Ziva. It just feels spot on, and I can hear her voice so clearly. I also love the vignette of Tony on the aircraft carrier. DiNozzo plays the fool so often for effect on NCIS, that sometimes I forget what he's like when he drops the obnoxious mask. But the author caught the screwball banter along with the genuine respect they have for each other.

Fandom: NCIS
Characters/Pairings: Abby Sciuto
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] voleuse

Why this must be read: Absolutely gorgeus examination of three things the author believes about Abby. I love how in these brief snapshots, we get a concentrated look at Abby, and how she works.
