Fandom: STARSKY & HUTCH
Pairing: none
Length: ~40900 & ~42300 words respectively
Author on LJ: not known
Author Website: HERE
Why this must be read:

There are many reasons I like the stories but I've chosen these particular two mostly because it's about Hutch and his father. In my opinion Grant Hutchinson is one of the best original characters ever written in this fandom. It begins as almost every such story – Grant is disappointed by his son's career choice, he does not like Starsky and he wants his son back. Suddenly they all are facing unexpected danger on some remote island and Grant takes a look into his son's life, into Hutch's relationship with Starsky and he has to prove how good surgeon he really is.
In the second story Grant discovers some disturbing facts about Hutch's past and again they have to decide what is really important for them. If you like what you read, give a try the rest of her stories (Grant is in almost all of them). You will not be disappointed. She has a specific style of writing and I just love the way she describes Starsky and Hutch's relationship.

02:19 pm Dancing in the Dark by Irene Heron (NC-17)
Howdy!  My name is [livejournal.com profile] georgiesmith  and I'm excited about taking my second turn driving the van for "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." fandom. Whee!

Fandom: THE MAN FROM UNCLE
Pairing: Napoleon Solo/Illya Kuryakin
Length: approx 6,000 words
Author on LJ: [profile] irene_heron
Author Website: Partner Mine
Why this must be read: Irene is one of my favorite writers. She has a terrific style and in this story in particular she is exceptionally good at capturing Napoleon's voice - both inner and in her always terrific dialog. In this Christmas tale, Napoleon and Illya find themselves in Rome after a mission. Never one to miss an opportunity, Napoleon brings Illya to enjoy Christmas dinner with his Aunt Aimee (and Aunt Lucia) and it's there that Illya, well, has an entertaining and rather educational evening. I am unable to stop myself from grinning while I read this story. It's just a delight from beginning to end. As a bonus, there's incredibly hot sex to boot!

Here's a tiny snippet:

Aimee stretched out an arm to either side, gathering my left, and Illya's right, hands into her own surprisingly large, strong hands, and squeezed. "We have heard so much about you, you see. Whenever Napoleon calls, it is Illya this and Illya that, and let me tell you what Illya did last week."

Illya patted his lips with his napkin and went very, very still. "Indeed. I had no idea Napoleon was such a chatterbox. You must tell me more."

God help me. I was doomed.

05:58 pm There's No Rain Inside My Heart by monchy (R)
Fandom: STAR WARS
Pairing: Anakin/Obi-Wan, mentions of Quinlan/Mace
Length: 2,260
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] monchy
Author Website: Master List of Fic
Why this must be read:

The easy camaraderie that comes from being brothers in arms that Anakin and Obi-Wan share makes this fic a must-read; theirs is a relationship that is infinitely complex no matter how you look at it, but at the end of the day Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker just get each other. I loved how natural the author makes it feel when they become lovers, no drama, it becomes just another facet of who they are.

08:55 pm Samson by Aloysia Virgata (R)
Fandom: THE X-FILES
Pairing: Mulder/Diana
Length: >3000 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] aloysiavirgata
Author Website: Livejournal
Why this must be read: Chances are, if you're an X-Files fan who has done time in the fandom, you had some kind of reaction to the "Mulder/Diana" note above. And with that being said, no matter what reaction you just had, this is a story you really need to read.

Talk about taking a minor female character and turning her into someone deep and interesting! "Samson" does exactly what Diana Fowley fic needs to do, dealing with her mysterious relationship with Mulder and her season 6 status as MSR foil, and remembering that she has her own backstory that must be dealt with. I love what Aloysia did here, with biting dialogue and bittersweet description. No fairy tale here - you get the sense throughout that if this were a filmed vignette, it would be done with one camera, filtered in grays, with sharp contrasts and harsh lighting.

Fandom: POPSLASH
Pairing: JC Chasez/Nick Carter
Author on LJ:
Author Website: http://www.waxjism.org/burymedeep/index2.html
Why this must be read:

This is a quiet little gem of a story, atmospheric and full of lovely characterisation. JC is stranded somewhere in the Florida Keys. To his great embarrassment, Nick Carter (who can skipper his own boat) turns up. Beautifully written, with lots of intriguing little questions and discoveries turning up as you read.
