Hey there. I'm kanders07 and I'm driving the van this month for Man From U.N.C.L.E. Hope you enjoy the stories I choose for you.

Fandom: MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E.
Pairing: Napoleon Solo/Illya Kuryakin
Length: approx. 140 KB
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] kelliem
Author Website: http://kellie.mrks.org/fic/mfu/mfu.html
Why this must be read: I find that I'm a sucker for first time stories, but I'm always wondering what happens next. This story does exactly that. First time and then through the years including the fifteen year break. Kellie's Napoleon and Illya are spot on and that's a huge plus too.

02:36 pm Never Saw Blue by Arianna (G)
Hey there, I'm Bee and I am going to be at the wheel for The Sentinel Fandom this month - with a backseat driver, Roslyn! Team work is canon in TS!

Guest Reviewer: Roslyn
Fandom: THE SENTINEL
Pairing: none
Length: 534 KB
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] caarianna
Author Website: http://www.wolfpanther.com/arianna.html

Why this must be read: Arianna is among our most prolific and gifted authors. Her explorations of both canon and AU storylines, in both slash and gen works, highlights the best of each form of fan fiction without confusing the different forms of intimacy explored in each of those genres (e.g. turning gen into 'pre-slash').

In this story, Jim and Blair are injured, with Jim's recovery complicated by complete loss of memory. This might easily have become a mundane 'amnesia' plot device in the wrong hands. Not so here! Arianna explores how friendship is affected by the loss of 'intimacy' which grows from the sense that one is truly understood/known by another individual through shared memories. References to canon events, combined with excellent character studies, examines changes in Jim's character when he is no longer influenced by the disappointments and traumas of his (now forgotten) past. As Jim tries to fit into a world that has become strange, Blair questions his value to Jim and whether he can continue a friendship - or merit a newly forged one - if memories of their past are not regained.

The journey is a most rewarding read and leaves the reader hoping for a sequel with Arianna's Wolf and the Jag.

Thank you for your understanding of my fumbling of my first posting.

Fandom: NCIS
Pairing: Gibbs/Ducky
Length: 5,956
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] nakeisha
Author Website: Partners Forever
Why this must be read: This was the one. THIS was the story that made me see the ship between Gibbs & Ducky. I know it's much longer than the usually permitted CV rec, but I'd encourage you to take the time to read it. If I could have only one of Nikki's NCIS stories with me, this would be the one. Spot on canon characterizations with a romance not having a single trace of sappiness.

Fandom: ANGEL
Pairing: none
Length: 645 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] snowpuppies
Author Website: Unknown
Why this must be read: This is short and - not sweet, sweet is the wrong word, but it's beautiful in a dark way. It stays so true to how Fred's mind works, showing little pieces of her life twisted up with her thoughts on blood. The last paragraph is a killer that made me want to re-read it about fifteen times in a row straight after finishing it.

Blood, her fourth-grade science teacher had explained, is like a train. It follows along a carefully routed track, carrying oxygen and nutrients to one station, then picking up the wastes before heading off to dispose of them.

And the cycle repeats, continuing for the entire life of an organism.

She remembers this, remembers every word, all the way back from the fourth grade. Remembers being fascinated by such a simple and complex process—osmosis and semi-permeable membranes, erythrocytes and leukocytes—and although her attention soon moved on to the complexity of physics, the spin of electrons and magnetic dipole moments, part of her is still awed by the simple beauty of blood.

10:48 pm Wannabes by Nope (15+)
Hi, everyone, my name's[livejournal.com profile] ashedrake and I'll be your Heroes driver for the month! I'm mainly an m/m slasher and a huge Sylar girl, so you know what to expect, but I can promise you I have a variety of goodies lined up for you. So sit back, relax and remember to fasten your seat belts.

Fandom:
HEROES
Pairing: Gen
Length: 12930 words
Author on LJ:[livejournal.com profile] nopejr
Author Website: Nopespace

Why this must be read:
Wannabes is an alternate universe story that veers off from and runs parallel to canon from "I am Sylar" with Micah trying to turn Sylar and himself into heroes. Written for[livejournal.com profile] heroes_bigboom this story is something very unique: a long, intricate, plot-based gen fic with one of the less seen characters on the show in a starring role. It keeps true to the feel of volume 4 to the smallest details, the original characters are convincing and compelling, and[livejournal.com profile] nopejr makes use of very intelligent twists to bring loose threads back in. Every character brought in, even the ones we hardly get to see, are given consistent motivations and are very IC.

It definitely twists your heart strings and makes your head spin with a plot that has a strong character study of Micah and takes a deeper look into what it means to be a hero when "hero" is just the flipside of the coin to "villain". Sylar sums it up neatly and echoes earlier seasons with the words "You're a hero. You don't get the luxury of regret."

Make sure to take a look at [livejournal.com profile] togsos' cover art as well.
