Fandom: ANGEL Pairing: Lilah/Wesley Length: ten drabbles Author on LJ: wisdomeagleAuthor Website: The index of their fic indexesWhy this must be read: Wesley joining Wolfram & Hart between seasons three and for makes for some interesting tweaks to his already complex relationship with Lilah. Their conversations are both calculated and cutting, making the running chess theme rather fitting. Chess

Fandom: SUPERNATURAL Pairing: Sam/Dean Length: 5,100 words. Author on LJ: drvsillaAuthor Website: drvsilla's master fic list at her LJ Why this must be read: If only the things in my head were canon, this would be how season three ended (I am even willing to subtract the slash element) because it's absolutely brilliant. I read "Shelter" almost a year after it was written and it is as fresh and exciting then as it is today. I can't say enough about Dru's prose. It's hers – it's signature – and the style wraps around me like the most comfortable blanket yet challenges me to take in every word. While it's extremely difficult to choose only one Dru fic to rec this month, I must go with this one because the originality, canon detail, and pure love that she puts into her craft allows "Shelter" to shine brightly no matter how many times I've read it. Fandom: NCIS Pairing: Gen, Abby-centric Length: One-shot Author on LJ: N/A Author Website: Crimson Quills Why this must be read:This fic is a really enjoyable look at how Abby might have come to be at NCIS, and the way in which her friendship with Gibbs and Ducky might have begun. I like this story for the deft way Nix handles Abby's character as a scientist, a young woman anxious to make a good impression, and someone who enjoys and is proud of her body art. A must read if you're an Abby fan! Expectations

Fandom:HARRY POTTER Pairing: GEN Length: 4,789 Author on LJ: N/A Author Website: RuneWitchSakura's FFN profileWhy this must be read: Different ways of defeating Voldemort abound and in this particularly humorous one, RuneWitchSakura has come up with a winner. The twins return from a week in France to find Voldemort and the Death Eaters defeated and Dumbledore jailed. Ron tells them the rather ingenious, if crazy way, in which Harry managed to defeat Voldemort & the DEs, all without getting injured or falling to Hermione's wrath for not studying for his NEWTs. Harry's Little Army of Psychos is a cute one-shot that pokes gentle fun at the grandiose Horcrux hunting plot while using cute little Puffskeins and adhering to Dumbledore's insane desire not to kill the bad guys. Give it a try! ( snippet )Read Harry's Little Army of Psychos here

Fandom: STAR WARS Pairing: Gen; Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Qui-Gon Jinn Length: 1,085 Author on LJ: [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]Author Website: Stories at Archive of Our OwnWhy this must be read: Because it's a slightly horrifying depiction of something that too many writers often times forget; for the first nine years of his life Anakin Skywalker was a slave, and the mental scars of that fact never really go away. The Jedi bought Anakin when he was ten. He was a little surprised; slaves got sent to the market all the time, but he was special. People had wanted to buy him before, but Watto had always said no before now.Slave

Fandom: THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN Pairing: none Length: 1,966 words Author on LJ: sallymn Author Website: SallyM’s M7 stories on AO3Why this must be read: Because it’s by a vastly talented multi-fandom writer who, we are fortunate, turns her attention to the boys sometimes to wonderful effect. Post- Manhunt, this features a truly fabulous conversation between Buck and Vin. Both voices are brilliant but, loving an edgy Vin Tanner as I do, his pov is extra-specially awesome :)
He and Buck had said their bit without speakin', and then he'd suffered through Ezra's mass of tangled words that mighta had regret snarled somewhere inside. Not that it mattered.
They were none of them perfect, and as far as he was concerned, him and them, they were good.

Fandom: STARGATE: ATLANTIS Pairing: McKay/Sheppard, Sheppard/other Length: 5,782 words Author on LJ: kyuuketsukiruiAuthor Website: Magic Soaking My SpineWhy this must be read:This was written as part of the 2007 mcshep_match Team Angst and man, does it satisfy. This is a unique AU that features a young Rodney and John who run away from foster care. The "transformation" aspect is absolutely riveting. Everything is so understated and yet it packs a huge punch. It's sweet and angsty, and a horrible situation, but the author's writing style really brings it home. Seriously, this can't be missed. Fandom: EUREKA Pairing: Jack/Stark Length: ~13,000 Author on LJ: serene_quillWhy this must be read: Thanks to Fargo's latest experiment--natch--Jack and Nathan get stuck to each other via a new resistant-to-all-things super glue...that has no antidote. Shenanigans ensue and the UST ratchets through the roof. Zoe is particularly awesome in this; she's wonderfully snarky. “Look, it wouldn’t be a picnic for anyone, but the two of you may have to take a really radical approach here,” Henry said, and Nathan’s confusion increased, wondering why Henry was giving Carter such a comforting look.
“Put us both in a coma?” Carter suggested dryly. Nathan actually considered it for a moment, and then scowled at his own immature reaction.
“Try getting along,” Henry replied gently. Don't forget to leave feedback for the author! Stuck on You

Fandom: MAN FROM UNCLE Pairing: Gen Length: 2,202 Author on LJ: nangi_akkiAuthor Website: unknown Why this must be read: In a seamlessly flowing narrative, this story demonstrates that rescues can require more than explosives which blow open cell doors, that devotion, too, is often in the details.
