Why this must be read:  I'm a huge fan of [livejournal.com profile] georgiamagnolia's work. She's not only prolific, but her stories never fail to entertain. Her stories are like potato chips - you can't read just one. Her take on the characters is strong, her dialog is always a delight and her fiction always leave me smiling. I've chosen this story because it's one of my favorites of hers and it's a tasty treat from beginning to end. Enjoy!

02:38 pm For What You Dream Of by Jane St Clair (NC-17)

Fandom: STAR WARS: THE PHANTOM MENACE
Pairing: Qui-Gon Jinn/Obi-Wan Kenobi
Length: 23k
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] 3jane
Author Website: Janefic
Why this must be read: Jane St Clair could write a phone book and I'd have to read it. She has a moody, lyrical style, yet stays true to the essence of the characters in whatever fandom she writes in.
Here we have Obi-Wan in need of some serious comfort while on the run from the Empire. It's sad, it's erotic, and surprising hopeful.

02:47 pm No Bravery by tutncleo (R)
Fandom: NCIS
Pairing: Gibbs/DiNozzo
Length: 48 k
Author on LJ: http://tutncleo.livejournal.com/
Author Website: http://tutncleo.webs.com
Warnings: Angst, Established couple, Hurt/Comfort
Why this must be read:

The author says that this story is inspired by a story on depression in law enforcement. I can’t say anything about law enforcement depression but I can definitely agree with her take on depression in general. DiNozzo is badly hurt and the shock and worry makes Gibbs see how several weeks of tiring, hard work and disturbing murders have affected him and through him, the rest of the team. A series of flashbacks keeps the story from becoming static or too lost in Gibbs’ inner musing of what has gone wrong and how he can fix it. Although Ducky, Abby, Tim and Ziva are all on the periphery of this story, the main component is Tony and Gibbs and their relationship. It’s a good read but has more inner musings than action, although I think there’s enough angst in here to keep it interesting.

04:56 pm Always Starts the Same, With a Boy and a Girl by [livejournal.com profile] lightgetsin
Fandom: WHITE COLLAR
Pairing: Neal/Peter/Elizabeth, Neal/Elizabeth
Length: 22,000
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] lightgetsin
Author Website: LightGetsIn on AO3
Why this must be read:

Summer, 1998. Neal Caffrey robs the gallery where Elizabeth O'Dell is working late, and comes away with a lot more than art. Agent Burke has no idea what's about to hit him.

This is probably one of the most well-executed AU's I've ever read, because it doesn't just take the same characters and place them in a different setting. Instead, [livejournal.com profile] lightgetsin does a masterful job of taking the same characters and stripping them of ten years of experience, ten years of time together, and ten years of all the ways, small and large, that they would have changed for each other. Peter is a little less sure of his position with the FBI, Elizabeth is a little more wild and impetuous, and Neal isn't quite Neal Caffrey: Criminal Mastermind yet, but he will be, one day.

This story doesn't just ask "what if", it answers it in the most entertaining of ways.

'What'd he do now?' Peter asked, looking up. )

11:54 pm In The Box by Dyce (PG)
Sorry for the lack of rec's this week. I've been picking grapes for the last 4 days. Harvest is finally finished, I've picked over 4,000 kg of grapes, and my back is killing me. It's time for a really funny story to help keep my mind off the pain. :)

Fandom:
FIREFLY
Pairing: Just Canon with a little Jayne/River if you really really squint.
Author on LJ: None that I can find.
Author Website: fanfiction.net
Why this must be read:
Mal's plans go wrong yet again with some pretty funny consequences. Think River and Jayne trapped in a little box for 6 hours.

  Here's a sneak peek:

Gil Takei wasn't a bad man. Sure, Mal Reynolds had crossed him up and cost him a lot of money, but that didn't mean Gil was going to shoot him or torture his crew or even blow up his ship. (Although he had considered that last one.)

Nevertheless, Gil felt it was necessary to in some way demonstrate to Mal that he was unhappy about their situation.

Posting him back to his ship was not only a sufficiently pointed but basically humane solution, it was also damned funny.
