This is a bookstore!AU where the CW crew either work there or know the employees and they're all a little strange. Mike and Misha can't stand each other and their friends are getting a bit sick of it. Misha's a jerk and Mike's kind of snotty and no one really knows why. When it's revealed why, my heart broke a little, because I think a lot of us can relate to Misha's pain.

It's cute, funny, has conversations revolving around zombies and kraken, and hot sex. It captures the silliness of both Mike and Misha well (for example, one has a couch with a superiority complex and the other an arrogant recliner). A great feel-good fic.

Why this must be read:

Because who can resist a good Aliens Made Them Do It type fic? This story just cracked me up with the awkwardness of the situation, the Doctor's complete obliviousness to Rose's feelings and the hot sex that eventually ensues. It's a fun read that everyone will enjoy.

I'd originally planned more recs, but after noticing that my previous posts were all in the same page, i decided to wait a bit in order to not spam the community :(. But now that other fandoms have picked up, I'm back :D!

Fandom: CRIMINAL MINDS
Pairing: Team!fic, gen
Length: ~70,500
Author on LJ: oleanderclouds
Author Website: Criminal minds fic on FFnet
Why this must be read:

Guest stars are an important part of the appeal of Criminal Minds the TV show. With cleverly written characters, Criminal Minds makes a skillful use of familiar faces, from geeky shows like the X-Files, to drama shows like Dawson's Creek, to ... well, Malcom in the Middle. Even when less known actors are used to bring to life the show's UNSUBs (the bad guys), they are not shown as two-dimensional villains. They have reasons, however twisted, and they have depth.

This, unfortunately, is more rare in fanfiction, which is why I'm reccing oleaderclouds' The Descend. This fic is one of less than a dozen fics (that I'm aware of) where the villain is incredibly well written. Moreover, what makes this fic more special is that it evolves, or as the team would've said, it devolves. By seeing inside the UNSUB's mind, we get to understand the rules that lead him ... and then the world shifts again and we found ourselves, alongside the story characters, wondering what the hell just happened and how the hell didn't we see it before.

Warning! It contains triggery themes.

06:21 pm A Special Working of Gravity by Jackie Thomas (R)
Fandom:THE PROFESSIONALS
Pairing: Bodie/Doyle
Length: 73k
Author on LJ: Unknown
Author website: Stories at The Circuit Archive
Why this must be read: Because she takes the premise of Bodie just out of prison due to a foul up on the job, and spins gold from it. She makes the most of the delicious possibilities for some partner angst, partner worry, and never overplays her hand. And she also delivers an enviable case/intrigue/epsiode-like action, which has Cowley, Ojuka, and a wonderfully enjoyable Murphy with a family. And did I mention that it’s set around Christmas??

A fantastic treat for any Pros fan, she has a great way with humour as well as pathos, and a terrific ear for the rhythms and cadence of CI5 life. The excerpt should be enough to entice you in. It's a scene near the beginning, when Doyle picks Bodie up the day he gets out.

Bodie's smile was warm as he made his way through the parked cars to Ray. His smile even reached his eyes, a place it had deserted these last six months. Ray folded him into his arms as soon as he was within reach.

They held each other in a fiercely tight and, on Ray's part, long-imagined hug. For all of Bodie's wandering hands and his own more guarded expressions of affection, they had never hugged before. Hugging wasn't very CI5, after all. But through these last months when the only decoration on the pistachio green walls of the visitors' room was a sign saying 'no physical contact,' this hug had become a private goal of Ray's. And he didn't care how nancy it was; he was bloody well not letting go if he could help it.
