Fandom: SHERLOCK Pairing: none (gen) Length: 1,200ish words Author on LJ: blind_authorAuthor Website: Fanfic MasterlistWhy this must be read:I adore when a writer gives good BAMF!John, and this writer gives the absolute BEST badass Doctor John Watson around. Plus, we get a fic from a very different point-of-view; that of Sebastian Moran, right hand man to Moriarty. Moran thinks Watson is a pansy. Boy, is HE wrong. Also, I highly recommend checking out all of this author's work, even the two WIPs linked in the masterlist above, because they are amazing. Deceiving Appearances

Fandom: RIPTIDE Pairing: Nick Ryder/Cody Allen/Murray Bozinsky Length: 8000 words Author on LJ: arouetteAuthor Website: Double your PleasureWhy this must be read:I'm a Nick/Cody girl myself, but I read every pairing (or threesome!) in the fandom, and this is one of my favorite OT3 stories. The OT3 dynamic in Riptide often involves Murray in need of protection: one of the things I enjoy most about this story is Nick and Cody setting out to protect Murray and having their eyes firmly opened. Knots is a kinky story about the birth of a three-way relationship. It begins in a bondage club, with Nick, Cody and Murray undercover--and Murray suddenly discovers, in a most intimate way, that bondage is something he *really* has a thing for. This story is smokin' hot. From the beginning with Murray up on stage, to the end with Murray up on the table, it's an awesome ride. But the emotion's not left out: how Nick and Cody discover that protecting Murray is exactly the wrong thing to do, and that, in fact, he's the perfect third for their games, is very well drawn. Fandom: SHERLOCK Pairing: none (gen) Length: 3,650 words Author on LJ: cat_77Author Website: Unfortunately, this author's website appears to be defunct, but you can find more stories in their tags on LJ. Why this must be read:Sally Donovan is pretty awesome, when you think about it, her antipathy towards our "hero" Sherlock notwithstanding. This fic shows Sally's point-of-view, her trust issues with Sherlock, and her intelligence and courage. I love the subtle imagery of this story and how the reader is unsure of what is going on as Sherlock tortures Sally. Intriguing stuff. ( Here, have a taste. )Interrogation

Fandom: PRIMEVAL Pairing: Nick/Jenny Length: Approx. 10,000 Author on LJ: lsellersfic Author Website: HereWhy this must be read This author writes excellent adventure stories and this is a great example of that genre. The team get chance to spend some time on the other side of an anomaly, studying the environment and its inhabitants, but naturally not everything goes according to plan. Read this one for great action, lovely team interaction, a side order of Nick/Jenny and a very exciting and wholly ingenious escape. Part 1, Part 2

Fandom: The Losers Pairing: Cougar/Jensen Length: 2110 Author on LJ: maratonistaWhy this must be read:This is the start of the rather impressive "Belonging" series - long, epic and utterly fucked up. It brings in a level of harshness that is often missed in this fandom - where it's not light banter and flashy heists, it's tragedy and violence and the wreckage of their lives. This is not a nice series. This is not a nice romance. There are plenty of things to warn you about. But it is amazingly well done, and well worth reading. Excerpt: As far as Jensen was concerned, Cougar was the coolest thing since the Echo Bot – and Cougar had no fucking clue what that was. He didn’t seem phased by the fact that when Cougar wasn’t ignoring him completely, he was glaring.
Cougar hated him, and Jensen hadn’t got a fucking clue. HisPart of the 'Belonging' Series

Fandom: RAFFLES Pairing: A.J. Raffles/Bunny Manders Length: 4,648 words Author on LJ: storyfanWhy this must be read:It's a good old-fashioned caper, replete with Raffles snubbing his nose at society, crooked gambling, a daring escape, and a splash of romance. It is absolutely the perfect fic to curl up on Christmas and warm up to. The Holiday Heist
