Title: “On the Edge of Forever” by DawnC and “A Matter of Time” by JudyL (sequel) Pairing: none Length: “Edge”: Novel length, “Matter”: 8K Author on LJ: unknown Author Website: DawnC’s Blair Angst Fiction Page and DawnC at Brothers In Arms Author Website: JudyL at AO3 and Judy’s home page Why this must be read: I like both of these shows, and the authors manage to do justice to the characters of both fandoms. It’s not easy to do a good crossover. Too often the author is more versed in one fandom to the detriment of the other. There’s also problems with the setup – how did the characters from one show end up in the city/state/universe of the other. When you throw a time span of centuries into the mix, you *really* have a challenge. DawnC does this very well while staying within canon for both shows. On his way home from the university, Blair interrupts an apparent assault of a woman. He is then attacked and thus starts an odyssey that takes him, literally, across time and space. As Jim tries desperately to find him, he comes across a trio of men who have some answers. It seems that the baddies have gone back in time to significantly alter Earth’s history, and it will take the best of both fandoms to stop them. DawnC tells a good interesting story, taking advantage of the natural banter and relationships among the various characters to keep you engaged. She’s not above poking a little fun at canon -- the ridiculously short skirts of the Enterprise females, Chekov’s cheesy accent and the Red Shirt trope – and we get to smirk along with her. JudyL’s sequel brings the Enterprise gang back a few years later Cascade time, but Kirk and company are decades older. Once again, they have to foil a plot to change Earth history. Although this time Blair and Jim are not the target, someone close to them is. Enjoy! On the Edge of Forever A Matter of Time --magician’s mantra: make an author’s day. Send feedback if you liked their story!

Title: Musical Lives by Aloysius Pairing: Starsky/Hutch, Ellison/Sandburg, Jackson/O'Neill Length: 14K Author on LJ: unknown Author Website: Me and Thee ArchiveWhy this must be read: I thought I'd rec a fun, silly little story that will make those of us who juggle numerous fandoms smile. It's a short piece, not really long enough to even post a snippet. Beware, this is what happens when fandoms collide. *bg* Musical Lives

Fandom: GENERATION KILL / LEVERAGE Pairing: Brad/Nate Length: 1,801 / 3,192 Author on LJ: kahtyasofiaAuthor Website: Kahtya Sofia on AO3Why this must be read:I fell in love with the Leverage crew after I read this. It takes a damned good writer to suck you into a fandom you had no intention of even glancing at. The voices are perfect, the settings are true to the shows, and the situations made me snort out laughter helplessly at work. I can't help but adore a story that does that, and pass it on. Author's Words"I'm telling you, Hardison, we got trouble. This guy's a Recon Marine." Hitter, Hacker. Grifter, Thief and Recon MarineSequel Hitter, Hacker, Thief and Devil Dogs

Fandom: GENERATION KILL Pairing: Brad/Nate Length: ~12,000 Author on LJ: fourfreedomsAuthor Website: N/A Why this must be read:I am posting a second one today because it is not a crossover, but rather a fusion of the show Better Off Ted, which is close enough sometimes. The Marines are put in place of some truly unique characters to fantastic effect, making me warn you not to eat or drink near your computer keyboard while reading. Whether you have seen the show or not, you are in for a treat because there is nothing like dancing pants of doom and scorching hot sex in one fic. Author's Words:Nate works for a company in research and development. He doesn't know how he sleeps at night. Better Off Ted AU. Unethical Behavior In The Workplace

Fandom: RPF - Gen/Het/Misc. Fanfic Recs (Stargate: Atlantis) Pairing: Joe Flanigan/Torri Higginson Length: ~3,500 words Author on LJ: unknown Author Website: unknown Why this must be read: Written for Yuletide '06, this is one of the first Torri/Joe stories to hit the fandom. With lovely actorisations, metaphors and insights, Kassie's Joe, especially, is intriguing and effectively written. His scenes with Torri, and his thoughts of Torri, are simply wonderful. Title: Appendix B: Excised Material from the UN Special Report on the Great Panic by mad_maudlin Pairing: Teyla Emmagen/Kanaan non-explicit; it's gen Length: 9,767 words Author on LJ: mad_maudlinAuthor Website: Author page on AO3Why this must be read:This Fusion with Max Brooks' World War Z captures the feel of the book 'verse and adds the SGA twist. As a non-canon SGA AU, this departs from what we know of the characters' histories, but their basic traits are the same, so we recognize them in this new setting, although they are not together as a team in this 'verse. There are four oral histories, of John, Rodney, Ronon, and Teyla during the Zombie War, and fans of the SGA four will appreciate this alternate tale of four very different warriors. Fandom: HAWAII FIVE-0 2010 / LEVERAGE Pairing: Steve McGarrett/Danny Williams Length: 2,038 words Author on LJ: I don't know Author Website: His fic on AO3Why this must be read:Yay! It's Crack Van Collisions! We have comparatively few crossovers in this fandom, but there are a few very good ones, and the one below is my pick, both because it's a personal favorite and because it somehow stays true to the atmosphere of both shows in a very fun way. So this one's a crossover with Leverage, and not just any crossover! It has Elliot Spencer dropping by. How could any Leverage fan resist? Watch Elliot flirt, everyone else simmer, and Steve lose his freaking mind as Danny banters and flirts with a charming handsome ex-military badass that's not Steve. Read, laugh, enjoy! The Boyfriend JobIf you liked it, don't forget to leave the author some comment love! (or even just a kudos)

Fandom: Merlin Pairing: Arthur/Merlin (pre-slash) Length: 3350 words Author on LJ: srin. Author website: Fic list. Why this must be read: Arthur is protective without knowing why and Merlin is dealing with yet another magical incursion in his own way...Or as the author puts it - The problem isn't that Merlin's a selfless idiot, the problem is that it's catching. This was one of the first Merlin fics I ever read and I love it. The re-iteration of Arthur's various two facts hinge the story together perfectly and the author's addition of numerous parentheses including Arthur's thoughtful asides are great. Arthur's belief that he may have caught Merlin's Merliness is cute and the magic reveal is handled in an awesomely matter-of-fact way. Two facts

Hi, I'm reccing Death Note this month. I got held up by various things, hence starting halfway through. My first rec is a crossover for Crack-Van Collision. Title: Trace on a Data Back-Road Pairing: Gen - Mello, Lawrence, Dallas Length: 1321 words Author on LJ: allira_dreamAuthor Website: intentationem (fic comm) and their account on Archive of Our OwnWhy this must be read:This fic provides nice characterisation of a young Mello as he makes his initials moves toward building a power base. The author has a clear grasp on the rage held just below the surface, and how Lawr would remind Mello of his Near-issues. (For reference, here's the wiki article on Boy's Next Door.)
