03:33 pm Keep Running by were_duck (explicit)
Fandom: BANDOM
Pairing: Frank/Gerard, Gerard/Korse, Frank/Gerard/Korse
Length: 8,220 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] were_duck
Author Website: Writing journal on DW & On AO3
Why this must be read: Gerard is seriously hurt by Korse. A violent act done in a fit of rage has unexpected consequences down the line.

This is a wonderful story, very intense and powerful. The whole drug conditioning thing, how it works and the way Korse is both aware and not of what it's doing to him, is fascinating and so is the way the dynamic between Korse and Gerard change through the story. I love how Gerard, despite his silence, is still the main agent and mover of the story. And the ending is so warm and full of hope.

05:43 pm Give You All by nicole_anell (R)
Fandom: BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (NEW)
Pairing: Lee/Lida, Lee/Kara, Lee/Dee
Length: ~8500 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] nicole_anell
Author website: Her Fic
Why this must be read:

If you're active in the BSG fandom right now, you've probably been seeing this one recced all over. And with good reason. It's an AU, set during New Caprica, where Lee is also captured by the Cylons and kept by a Six. There's serious dubcon/Stockholm's type issues going on in this fic, so beware if that's an issue for you, but it's also extremely well done, dealing with the consequences and the fall-out.

Lee's a frustrating character a lot of the time (the writers never seemed to get a purpose for him), but here, he really works in this plot, and even if you're not an ardent Lee fan, [livejournal.com profile] nicole_anell makes him and his slow destruction and... something of a recovery utterly compelling. It's sparse and desperate, which is pretty much pitch perfect for Season 3 BSG :) It's extremely well done, and well worth the time to read.

Fandom: WATCHMEN
Pairing: Dan/Rorschach, Laurie/Jon, implied others
Length: Multi-chapter saga
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] daylilymoon
Author Website: http://daylilymoon.livejournal.com/6356.html#cutid1
Why this must be read:

This fantastic AU was inspired on the Watchmen Kinkmeme by this image, which is full of awesome, and this story meets it head-on. It's got mysteries, violence, mistaken identity, a hunt for justice, and oh – the characters are written amazingly too. ;) It's a sweeping, epic story that puts everyone in the world of the Old West while managing to keep them in character, and I highly recommend it.

08:13 pm But Whatever I am, I am a Very Serious Woman by kitausu (PG-13)
Fandom: STAR TREK: REBOOT
Pairing: None
Length: 299
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] kitausu
Author Website: kitausu’s Star Trek tag
Why this must be read:

Author’s summary: Christine Chapel, You know, I used to think it was benign neglect, but now I see that you are intentionally screwing me

This is one of the gems that came out of [livejournal.com profile] hazyflightsAwesome Ladies Ficathon last summer. [livejournal.com profile] kitausu’s Christine Chapel makes McCoy look like a teddy bear: she is a no-nonsense woman who has no qualms about yelling at a superior officer when it will help her do her job more effectively. It’s hard to read this fic and then imagine Reboot!Chapel any other way.

11:44 pm Like love we seldom keep by Vanzetti (R)
Fandom: THE X-FILES/SUPERNATURAL
Pairing: Alex Krycek/Marita Covarrubias, John Winchester/Mary Winchester, John Winchester/Marita Covarrubias
Length: Short story
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] vaznetti
Author Website: http://vanzetti.populli.net/index.html
Why this must be read: I missed the cross-over day but I'm posting anyway. Please don't hold this against me, but I don't really like SPN. As a result, I have watched maybe a handful of episodes, but this story is so terrific I am almost tempted to check out the reruns. It's told from John's POV. He's doing his thing, chasing down the evil spirits, when he meets up with Marita, who is being haunted by the ghost of Alex Krycek. This story is about the intersection of love and loss in two very different lives, and one powerful meeting of minds, bodies and--spirit.
