07:53 am In the Wake of Loss by luxover (R)
Fandom: FOOTBALL (SOCCER) RPF
Pairing: Cristiano Ronaldo/Lionel Messi
Length: ~8000 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] luxover
Author Website: fic list
Why this must be read: it takes some doing to make this pairing work, but work it does! Major props for not white-washing Cristiano Ronaldo in the slightest - he's self-centered and narcissistic and really a lousy boyfriend, but still somehow likeable. The cameos from minor characters are wonderful too.

08:00 am How do you want it (R), by Dorsetgirl
Fandom: LIFE ON MARS
Pairing: Sam/Gene
Length: 408 words
Author on LJ: dorsetgirl
Author Website: dorsetgirl's life on mars fic list

Why this must be read:

As with the other authors I've recced, I could really rec TONS of dorsetgirl's stuff. She writes Sam/Gene with a genuine sweetness and commitment that always makes me feel warm and fuzzy, and I don't think I've ever read anything of hers that I didn't love. It's generally the happy end of the sam/gene continuum, but with a real-life complexity and need and willingness to talk through difficulties. This particular fic is a little dose of PWP, with warmth and humor and unexpected vulnerability.
