10:16 am A Story to Tell by bgoodb (Teen)
Fandom: FIREFLY
Pairing: Zoe/Wash, Simon/Kaylee
Length: ~2K words
Author on LJ: Unkown
Author Website: bgoodb at AO3

Why this must be read: Post-Serenity, the crew all has stories about Wash to tell his and Zoe's daughter. I dare you to read this without getting a case of the warm fuzzies.

The evil Alliance had them all in his grasp, but then, the great superhero Jetwash, flew in to save everyone. Which was a good thing because Captain Tightpants was in way over his head. )

Fandom: X-MEN: FIRST CLASS (Marvel movieverse fusion of First Class and the other X-Men movies)
Pairing: Charles Xavier/Erik Lehnsherr
Length: 19,606 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] acetamide
Author Website: acetamide on AO3
Why this must be read:
Because X-Men: First Class was incredibly TRAGIC when Charles and Erik broke up on the beach, ok? Because they are Meant To Be Together (TM). Because Magneto's way didn't work, but then neither did Professor X's. This story is set mainly within the continuity of the first X-Men movie. Charles and Erik wake up without decades of memory. For them, it's the night before the Cuban Missile Crisis stand-off and they have no memory of what happened in between, or how they got to a time where Erik is locked within a metal-null cage and Charles is locked into a wheelchair in a house full of mutant students. This story deftly weaves the cannons of both movie franchises and plots from the comics to form a story about having a second chance to get things right. Good stuff here, highly recommended!

03:31 pm Monsieur Vol du Furet by Waldo (G)
Fandom: WHITECOLLAR
Pairing: Neal, Peter
Length: 934
Author Website: AO3

Why this must be read:

I'm a sucker for ferrets. They're so squidgy and soft. Plus that thing that they do with their heads? So cute.

This fic was requested by Misura during the Help_Haiti Lightening Round II. She wanted to see Peter, Neal, and a Ferret together. Considering ferrets are illegal in New York, Waldo has written a perfectly plausible case fic involving forged stock certificates, an illegal ferret, and as a bonus, included bit of back story for Neal.
If you need a quick pick me up after a rotten day then this fic will totally do it.

Excerpt:

"Speaking of stupid, Neal, did you notice he's trying to eat your hand?" Peter was actually okay with the rule banning the things from his city. They freaked him out. No animal should be as flexible as that.

"Nah, he's just trying to steal my finger." Neal continued to tease it. "For an illegal pet, he must have been getting it vet care somewhere," he mused. "He has his neutering and de-scenting tattoos. And he looks more than healthy. This guy has to be coming up on four pounds." Neal reclaimed his finger and rolled the portly thing onto his back, stretching it out to about three or four times the length it appeared to have when he had it perched on his shoulder. "Loooong ferret," Neal teased it."

04:20 pm Accidental Bonding and Push and Pull by Luzula (both rated R)
Fandom: DUE SOUTH
Pairing: Benton Fraser/Ray Kowalski
Length: ~15K words for both parts
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] luzula
Author Website: Luzula's master fic list and podfic list
Why this must be read:
Accidental Bonding is a wonderful and well-thought out superpowers AU where the due South gang work in the Chicago PD's Department of Magical Crimes. Luzula does a terrific job of fitting canon into her universe, and it's almost frightening how much more sense some of it makes in her version than in Paul Haggis'. During the course of some good old-fashioned police work, the boys get, well, accidentally bonded, and discover their romantic feelings are mutual. Push and Pull follows directly after Accidental Bonding. It's the story of how Fraser and Ray find their balance in their new relationship while juggling a case, dealing with their bond and doing a mandatory stint in therapy. The characterizations in Push and Pull are wonderful, and both Ray's and Fraser's reaction to the bond are spot-on.

09:11 pm The Adventures of Timothy McGee and Mary-Jane by stormy_mayday (PG-13)
Fandom: NCIS
Pairing: Gibbs/DiNozzo though focus is on team friendship
Length: about 1,900 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] stormy_mayday
Author Website: N/A
Why this must be read: Because it's hysterically funny, that's why. *g* I think the title says it all, though the sub-title ("Or Rather, The Three Times McGee Smokes With Tony And The Fourth Time It Almost Swears Him Off") pretty much sums it up perfectly. Now, I don't condone or promote drug abuse, even if they're recreational drugs, but we're all adults here and know that this sorta thing happens. Or: If you know what Mary-Jane is, you're allowed to read. If you think it's a female character, don't click the link! LOL! Also, it's canon that both Tony and Kate have inhaled. *g* This story spans from McGee's first time to a really bad trip, and leaves you howling with laughter throughout.
