Why this must be read:

Themed on the nursery ryhme, Baa, baa, black sheep, this story just pulls you in.  Told in Pyro's POV, the author does an amazing job of taking the characters we love and making them her own while still keeping true to a number of their traits.  What jumps at me the most about this story though is that it doesn't label good and evil so cut in dry and rather focuses on the decisions of a person trying to figure out who he is and what he believes in.  Though Pyro and Rogue may not be your thing, I think you can appreciate the struggles depicted in here.

Why this must be read: Finally we're going to end where it all began. This is a Classic Hollywood rpf set today. Here the original cool kids, those screen gods and goddesses of yesteryear are tweeting, going to rooftop parties, wearing red soled louboutins and listening to Lady Gaga. It is a testament to jada_jasmine's skill as a writer that she pulls it off in a way that feels effortlessly.


The thing about Hollywood is half the people believe their whole lives are movies, and the other half believe movies are their whole lives.

Why this must be read: In less than eight hundred words, Sossity manages to completely pull together a great comedy skit that matches the tone of the show, though the language goes a little beyond. Her characterization and voices are spot-on perfect, and this humor piece is as close to guaranteed as possible to get at least one laugh out loud moment.

Why this must be read: This is truly delightful pure ‘crack’ - sweet, funny and romantic, with a totally unrealistic plot premise but with the kind of banter we expect in this fandom. It makes me smile every time I read it. Cowley forces the lads to marry, for an op. What will happen when the op is over? There’s a drabble (Fraternization) that follows it (same rating) and is worth reading. I hope the fic will start the month off with a grin for you.

Why this must be read:

This fic is my favorite fic ever--not just in the Inception fandom, and not just because it was written for me. ;) When I tell people about Inception fandom, I always talk about what amazing and redemptive things fans have done with the worldbuilding, the characterizations, and the moral themes of the story we're given in canon, and to me all of those things are encompassed in these stunning four thousand words.

This is a story that falls into the category of Inception fics that utilize the trope "Mal woke up." These fics do a revision on canon that assumes that Mal was right when she told Cobb their "reality" wasn't real, and that when she jumped she literally woke up from the dream. This is the story about how Mal attempts to move on.

The first time I read electrumqueen's electrifying fic it literally left me breathless and shaking. It's raw and painful and real, and Mal comes alive in grief and determination and strength in a way that I've rarely seen in any fandom. The dynamic between her and Arthur is incredible, and her love for Cobb saturates the whole fic with such intensity and sadness and power--and maybe even hope.

If you only ever read one fic in the Inception fandom, I really hope it's this one.

Hello again! I'm Gaby aka sinfulslasher, snagging the keys to the NCIS van once again. As my LJ username suggests, I love slash. I'm also a Tony gal. So, my recs tend to be of the slashy Tony persuasion (most notably with Gibbs) but I'll try to add enough other recs to hopefully make everyone happy. :)

The first rec is, of course, Tony-centric but it's het. *gasps* At least the het is hinted at, there's no explicit sex, only an established canon het relationship. This is a character study if I ever saw one, and an amazing one to boot. This is "my" Tony the way I see him, and I love the story to pieces for tackling a very serious and all too realistic topic and portraying Tony in character all the way through.

This isn't an easy read because of the raised issues, so please heed the warnings, but it's too good not to give it a try. Trust me!

This fic is what happens when Joe (from Gatchman) somehow accidentally trades places with Jason, his Battle of The Planets counterpart. Hilarity very much ensues!

Here’s the most common and least accurate summary you’re likely to get: it’s a story about four kids who play a magic videogame.

To be more precise, Homestuck is a multimedia internet drama about thirty four teenagers spread across two sets of universes, all of them trapped together in convoluted chains of time, space and authorial fiat in an unending nightmare quest to figure out what went wrong with each of their respective universes’ attempt to create all the other universes.

Imagine if Chuck Palahniuk and Ursula Le Guin wrote His Dark Materials via parking lot shopping cart jousting match, then got 4chan to stage the broadway musical.

God is a pack of snarky teenagers. Satan is three kinky puppets and an alien clown with daddy issues. Everyone is their own grandmother. The writer shows up in the comic itself to give the fourth wall double middle fingers, and the big bad is Betty Crocker. It’s a story about love and hope and friendship, but mostly it’s a comic about a pack of juvenile shitheads being complete dicks to each other over the intergalactic internet.

Why this must be read: The opening lines sucked me into this straight away. Just the idea of Rodney being so bereft at the loss of his friends that he'd do anything to get them back resonated really strongly with me. Added to that, this is Rodney being the one who has to rescue the others, at least to begin with and I was head over heels for this story.
Summary: When the team becomes trapped in an Ancient prison, it's up to Rodney to bust them out of their individual cells. The problem is, it's all in their minds.

Housewarming

Hi! I’m mizface and I’ll be driving the WB/CW RPF van again this month! There is a huge amount of great fic to choose from, and the authors I chose have a LOT more great fic than just the ones I’m reccing, so I hope you check out their work as a whole (and leave them their much-deserved wonderful feedback). Here’s the criteria I chose to use this trip (which is actually the same as last time I drove, because it worked well last time):
1. Jensen/Jared is my pairing of choice
2. I have a love for AUs that cannot be textually rendered, and lucky me! This fandom has some of the best
3. I tend toward happy fic. It can have its share of angst, but overall I love humor, banter, and at least a hopeful ending.

With that in mind, let's start with a fic that hits all three points, though the last one is definitely done in a twisted way.

I’m not usually a big fan of the boys as bad guys, but this Jared, an up-and-coming LA crime boss, and Jensen, his boytoy, were too compelling not to read. And re-read. Plus, we get a great outsider perspective, as it’s told from rival crime boss Mitch Pileggi’s POV.

Why this must be read:
B Huff is one of the best writers of original Five0 fic period. She writers the show's characters completely true to what we saw on the show and her original characters are minutely developed and delightful. Her plotlines are detailed and complex yet not so much so that a reader who knows little about the original series couldn't follow them.

This particular story is a wonderful extended epilogue to 'And I Want Some Candy and a Gun That Shoots' along with a stand alone story in its own right. It picks up from the last scene of the episode & traces Danny, Steve and a wonderful OC thru Dan's recovery and struggle with his failure to get the guy on the mountain.

The shenanigans keep on going and if you need a good 'cheer you up' kinda fic, then I definitely recommend this one. The author does a wonderful job keeping the reader on their toes.
