Title: All But Memories by pageleaf
Pairing: Arthur (Harvey)/Merlin (Mike)
Author on LJ: N/A
Author Website: AO3
Why this must be read:

This is a gorgeous piece of fusion. Merlin has been been reincarnated as Mike Ross and one by one, he finds those he loved in Camelot in those around him. Some of them remember, some of them don't. Arthur/Harvey is one of those that don't remember.

Author's Summary:

Wherein Mike is Merlin reincarnated, Harvey is Arthur, everybody else is everybody else, and they fall in love. Again.

Excerpt:

Harvey tells him not to care so much. Mike frowns, because that’s not how he remembers Arthur. Arthur always cared a little too much. Arthur always cared, and never had trouble showing it—except to Merlin. To Merlin, Arthur had to express his feelings through banter and double-talk, but Merlin loved it anyway.

Harvey, however, is apparently different. Harvey doesn’t care at all, about anyone or anything. Harvey says feelings get in the way.

Mike doesn’t buy it one bit. He decides then and there that he’s going to prove Harvey wrong. He’s going to make Harvey care, and about Mike, too.

All But Memories: go, read, it's a gorgeous piece of work.

Pairing: Sam/Annie, Sam/Maya, Gene/missus, Sam/other
Length: 147,169 overall

Why this must be read:

This is one of the series I return to, again and again. I am truly astounded that it hasn't been recced here before (well, I checked all 15 pages of the list). This series of 86 parts (plus accompanying stories) takes you on a breathtaking ride through Sam's universe, which you will not regret. Also, it comes to a kind of happy end, with an interesting twist ("Gladys!"). Just reccing this makes me want to read it again. The author, dak, truly deserves all the recognition there is for writing this "monster" of a fic.

07:05 pm "Back and Forth" by elfin (NC-17)
Fandom: LIFE ON MARS (UK)
Pairing: Sam/Gene
Length: 9607 words
Author on LJ: http://elfinessy.livejournal.com/
Author Website: http://www.sundive.co.uk/lifeonmars/
Why this must be read:

Another one of elfin's... I was thinking about the stories that "shaped" me, those I remember fondly, those which lead me into the fandom and which stayed with me. This is another example. The author manages to tell the story in two different timelines simultaneously, and then brings it all together, somehow. In an AU kind of way, with a lovely outcome. The story which was written before series 2 had fully aired consists of large passages of dialogue but no more is needed to evoke the pictures in one's mind... Go read!

Why this must be read:

Yes, I know, Crossover Day was the 15th. But I was on (literal) roller coasters the entire day, and recovering from the aforementioned (awesome) roller coasters and (not-so awesome) long drive home yesterday, when I wasn't at work, that is. So yeah, it's late, but I am very excited to rec this, a fic I just found last week (though it’s been around awhile). I adore both dS and SPN like nobody’s business, so the timing of finding this was excellent.

It’s told from Dean Winchester’s POV, but is still a good dS story, with a very different outsider POV. Dean is badly injured, and sent to safety in the middle of Canada, where he’s found by… do I really need to go on?

08:05 pm short stories of fallen kings by brojan (r)
Fandom: FOOTBALL (SOCCER) RPF
Pairing: David Villa/Lionel Messi
Length: ~5500 words
Author on LJ: brojan
Author Website: Master Fic List

Why this must be read: The football world is by nature an ephemeral one - your favorite player may be here today, gone to another team tomorrow, and not only that, but far too soon he will be facing the specter of retirement. Post-retirement fics form a bittersweet little subgenre of their own, and this Messilla sample happens to be my favorite. David Villa, solitary, drifting, drops into Buenos Aires for a charity match; Leo and Andres conspire to keep him there a little while longer. David eventually comes to realize that Leo doesn't have this all figured out, any more than he has, but that somehow they still fit together, even after all these years. Warning: this might break your heart just a little bit.
