Fandom: TORCHWOOD Pairing: Gen (Jilly Kitzinger) Length: 1028 Author on LJ: golden_dAuthor Website: Fanfic master post on LJ,, AO3 profile, FF.net profileWhy this must be read: Yes, yes, I know, I recced a Miracle Day fic for my last Torchwood rec of the month. In general, a lot of people in (and out) of the fandom have apathy towards Miracle Day for various reasons. Without spoiling anything, this fic speculates about what happened after Jilly Kitzinger after the events of Miracle Day (the series) have transpired. Jilly's well characterized in this one, and even if you loathe Miracle Day, this fic is worth a read ( Excerpt )But It Won't Pay the Rental

Fandom: AVENGERS FRANCHISE (MOVIEVERSE) Pairings: Steve/Bucky, Natasha/Clint, Jane/Thor, background Natasha/Bucky, Ensemble Length: 6,000 Author on LJ: ignipesAuthor Website: Author on AO3Why this must be read:They only need ten rules to ensure (relatively) peaceful cohabitationThe focus is on the ensemble, the team in this fic as opposed to the pairings. This is them feeling each other out, finding their places and making the rules up as they go along. This is the people in between the missions and out of the costumes. Fandom: LEWIS Pairing: Robbie Lewis/James Hathaway Length: 57k Author on LJ: garryowenAuthor Website: dogpoet at the AO3Why this must be read:Somebody writes Lewis a poem. I'm back, and I bring a rec for a long, wonderful series. Punctuation is one of my favorite 'this is how it happens' stories in Lewis fandom. The author has such an insightful and enjoyable take on both Lewis and Hathaway, going all the way from heartache and Lewis's soul searching, to the practicalities of falling in love, to a series of hilariously filthy text messages, to the creation of an internal voice for Hathaway that is lyrical, ardent, and unforgettable. The first time he and James had met, James had brought him here. He’d waited at the airport with a sign in his hands. He’d offered himself after the case. He’d said, Take me. I’m yours if you want me. Punctuation

Fandom: INCEPTION Pairing: Arthur/Eames Length: 6k Author on LJ: http://smallacts.livejournal.com/Author on AO3: http://archiveofourown.org/users/liketheroad/pseuds/liketheroadWhy this must be read:This isn't exactly fluff because Eames is at first manipulative and shallow as he strategizes the best way to get into Arthur's pants. It also isn't fluff in that it shows Arthur as being quite lonely and you get an idea of how isolating their profession could be. But it is fluff in that the seduction strategy hinges on pretending to be his friend, and through bad TV and takeway, Eames realizes how much he enjoys Arthur's company. It is also fluff in that when offered the chance to get into his pants, Eames chooses all of Arthur instead. It takes serious story-telling skills from the author to move from the unfluffy beginnings and turn it into a fluffy (and more importantly) believable end. Maybe Arthur

Fandom: BABYLON 5 Pairing: Na'Toth/Neeoma Connally Length: 3420 words Author on LJ: aris_tgd | aris_tgdAuthor Website: Aris Merquoni at An Archive Of Our Own Why this must be read:"Na'Toth doesn't know what to make of the fiery leader of the Babylon 5 Dockworker's Guild. Neeoma just wants to get through negotiations with Zento and the command staff alive. A couple acts of charity, a couple drinks, and suddenly all sorts of possibilities seem to appear. " I have a huge weakness for secondary characters, and stories that expand the world beyond the small sphere of the main cast of a given show. Here, two women with a lot of responsibility but limited power (the sort of people who make B5 go ‘round behind the scenes) meet unexpectedly in the course of their duties. Na'Toth, for all her badassery, turns out to be remarkably kind, and intrigued by the human who quotes Marx at her. The sex, when it comes, is charming, clever, and quite hot.
