Fandom: TEEN WOLF (TV) Pairing: Derek Hale/Stiles Stilinski (pre-slash) Length: ~ 4672 words Author on LJ: ukefiedAuthor Website: writing on AO3Why this must be read: It's Friday, so how about something to make you laugh? This story is kind of a crossover, but it's not necessary to know anything about Transformers to enjoy the story because Stiles and Derek don't know anything about them either. However, the boys are forced to figure things out pretty fast when Stiles's Jeep appears to have developed a mind of its own. It was the summary (the cut-tag text) that really got me on this one because, honestly, this is totally Stiles and Derek. The excerpt will give you a clear idea of what to expect, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. ( 'Come on, let’s go. You can’t fight a twenty-foot tall robot!'
And then Derek just gives him this look, like he could, and it sends Stiles into a homicidal rage. )On AO3: SparksIf you enjoy the story, remember to feedback the author!

Fandom: TEEN WOLF (TV) Pairing: Derek Hale/Stiles Stilinski Length: ~ 37,000 words Author on LJ: aggybirdAuthor Website: writing on AO3; Master Fic ListWhy this must be read: Peter is one of the most interesting characters around, but a lot of writers aren't sure what to do with him in fic, so he often ends up being the creepy, bad guy. As much as creepy suits him, I like the Peter in this fic much more. He's smart, funny, and bored. Smart, funny people are dangerous when they're bored - they usually like to shake things up to make the world more entertaining for themselves - and that's exactly what Peter does. With Barry Manilow. Who Peter knows is "the greatest romancer of all time." Trust me, this story has everything - plot, sirens and warlocks, humour, banter, hurt/comfort, and the sweet slow build of Barry-Manilow-assisted romance. What more could you possibly want? ( 'It certainly is quiet in here,' Peter observes. 'Shall I turn on some music?' )On AO3: Werewolf Love Songs, Vol. 1If you enjoy the story, remember to feedback the author!

Fandom: THE PROFESSIONALS Pairing: Ray Doyle/WAP Bodie Length: 33K Author on LJ: solosundance Author’s website: http://www.thecircuitarchive.com http://archiveofourown.org/users/JoJo/pseuds/JoJo http://archiveofourown.org/users/JoJo/profile
Why this must be read: I’m delighted to have a chance to rec one of JoJo’s stories, and this is a great showcase for her talents. There is so much to enjoy here. I love the way we are thrown straight into the story without any preamble: how we really have to work out for ourselves what’s going on, without any time-wasting exposition; how pre-Glasnost Czechoslovakia is portrayed – spot on in both detail and atmosphere. And it’s intricately made up of a number of interlocking pictures, showing us the lads at a certain point in their friendship, and in a growing “relationship”, while at the same time isolated and up to their necks in very dangerous situation. The drama and the humour – the dialogue is laugh out loud funny in many places – simultaneously reveals and conceals the game they are playing with each other, though neither of them is aware of it; each steadfastly refusing to give reassurance, whilst at the same time being narked that no reassurance is being shown….. Beautifully in character, with writing pared to the bone and every word counting.

Fandom: Avengers Movieverse Pairing: Pepper Potts/Tony Stark background, but this is gen Length: 8831 words Author on LJ: entropy_houseAuthor Website: Author Page on AO3Why this must be read:Tagged "Zombies" and "Crack Treated Seriously" (which seems not possible, but somehow works out), this story is one of my gen recs, and people who do not like zombies should still give it a read due to the amusingly wacky plot (and for reasons I won't give so as not to spoil the ending). Fandom: STAR WARS Characters: Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon, Siri, Adi, Bruck, Xanatos, Zan Arbor, Yoda, Garen, Bant, Mace, Tahl, OCs to die for! Length: Novel Author on LJ: ruthbauldingAuthor Website: FFN ProfileWhy this must be read: crack_van is ten years old today, w00t! So let's celebrate with a remarkable accomplishment in fandom. When an AU is launched by an author, the expectations are high: one scenario for an alternate universe is to ask 'What if X happened instead of Y, or X did not happen at all'? Lineage is an AU using the basis of Jude Watson's fandom-beloved Jedi Apprentice series begun at the time of The Phantom Menace which depicted young Obi-Wan Kenobi's apprenticeship under Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn. Jedi Apprentice was in a Young Adult format, satisfying movie-goers' questions and introducing new characters such as Obi-Wan's friends Bant Eerin and Garen Muln while utilizing the movie-characters Mace and Yoda in familiar roles. ruthbaulding's series is adult in tone and circumstance, fleshing out characters both of TPM and Watson's creation. Give yourself a good, long read with this series and come away in appreciation of plot, imagery and characterization. There is no better rec for today's anniversary.
