Fandom: Blakes 7 Pairing: none Author on LJ: yes, but not under that name Author Website: hereWhy this must be read: This is one perverse fandom.... Most B7 authors, Betty among them, could set a story anywhere on earth or in heaven and turn it angsty. So what happens when you actually set one in hell? Why, almost a semblance of a happy ending, or at least a positive one! This is one of those short fics that lose too much by quoting, but I will... ignore if you want things in order: ( excerpt )This fic depends on Blake's character being what it is, and the strange scenario is both convincing and curiously likeable. Title: Haunted by Aim, Brian, Dimples, Jen and Wifey Pairing: Beecher/Keller; can't spoil the rest Author on LJ: ??? Why this must be read: It's a dark, wicked, funny, sexy, ingenious melding of two fictional worlds and Tobias Beecher's struggle to escape both. Plus, it has a great Stanislofsky, a shrewd player whose entertaining run on the show was too short. The real strength of "Haunted" comes in the Oz characterizations and the Oz plot: Keller, McManus, Murphy, Schillinger, Stanislofsky, Wittlesey and more. All the scheming and plotting and conniving you expect in Oz, but tied to the outside world through a paroled Beecher, who is a suspect in the murder of Jason Schillinger, Vern's son. The SVU gang is called to investigate the brutal killing. Did Beecher do it? Was he set up? Was anyone in Oz involved? ( More... ) Haunted

Fandom: Alias/Harry Potter Pairing: Sark/Neville Author on LJ: hackthis Author Website:http://www.obsessedmuch.net/dysfunctional/ Why this must be read: This is more a universe than an individual story, but it started out as an improv fic. The very best bits are Sark and Neville chatting about things, really. And then there's Neville biting Sark on the arse in the most recent addition to the universe. Mmmmm, Sark's what's for dinner. Julian's associates only call him by his surname, Sark, and this is why Neville can tell immediately who’s on the phone when it rings. Their phone doesn’t ring very often, but enough to keep them both occupied. It’s taken Ron an age to figure out how to use the phone by himself, but Neville once had Harry’s help with those sort of things, and Ron... Neville tries not to think about that either.
In general, they don’t inquire about the people on the other end of the line, instead they pass the receiver wordlessly and go on about their business.
This life works for them just fine. Also Known asand the most recent addition Such a Gracious Host

Title: Persistent Mysteries, by Shaye Fandom: FIREFLY Pairing: None Author on LJ: shayeAuthor’s Website: chairs, candles & clothWhy this must be read: There are a lot of nifty crossovers at the Multiverse 2004 site, including several Firefly ones, but I chose to rec this story because it makes good use of the Firefly ensemble. shaye attempts to reconcile two different universes, giving intriguing hints as to the Farscape ‘verse that Chiana left behind. "Zombies!" she cried. "Zoe, it ain't a zombie, is it?"
Zoe gave Kaylee a look that said 'Don't be stupid, ain't no such thing as zombies.'
Zoe looked a little bit closer at that body, though. "You aren't a zombie, are you?"
The body shivered a little -- it had gotten downright cold in here -- and her eyes shifted over to Zoe. Palest blue eyes Kaylee'd ever seen, and it made her skin crawl in a way that had nothing to do with the cold.
Then the body laughed. "I'm not a zombie," she said, in a weirdly accented voice. "But I'm guessing you're humans, aren't you?"
Kaylee looked on in wide-eyed horror. It even took Zoe a moment to recover speech.
"Just a wild guess, but judging by that question...I have to ask. You're not?"
The little gray...alien, she supposed...crawled out of what Kaylee now knew was a cryo-chamber. She rubbed her arms vigorously and held them out for Kaylee and Zoe to see.
"Do I look human to you?" Persistent Mysteries

Fandom: BtVS/Angel crossover Authors on lj: mpoetess and gilascaveAuthor websites: Pointy Stakes and Gila's CavePairing: Spike/Xander/(Anya), Wesley/Gunn, Willow/Tara Rating: PG-15 (to be safe) Why this must be read:I have an embarrassing love of these stories. Seriously. I haven't laughed so much in ages. Basically, the Scoobies find this ancient and mysterious artefact in the Magic Shop that they shouldn't touch. Of course, they only discover that they shouldn't touch it after Spike, Xander, Giles and Buffy have handled it. It has a certain, um, regressive effect upon them... This does carry a serious warning. You may think you can handle four-year-old Xander (biiiig puppy-dog eyes) and four-year-old Buffy but you will never survive four-year-old Spike or four-year-old Giles. And if you managed that, you'll be a gonna when the Fang Gang drop by. Son of Small Fry continues in much the same vein although most of the action is transferred to LA and a hint of a nefarious plot begins to make itself known. These are two superbly crafted stories. As ever, the characterisation is to die for although the general feel of the stories is more 'Something Blue' than 'Passion'. Aside from the obvious humour, there is some interesting character development (especially with Buffy and Giles) and some poignant background story supplied by the interaction between Willow and Xander. Title: Force of Nature by Sugar Rush Pairings: Lex/Alex Krycek, Lex/Clark/Alex Krycek, Lex/Clark Author on LJ: bittermintAuthor Website: Sweet Boy BytesWhy this must be read:I decided to rec this crossover because I doubt I'll ever volunteer to rec for X-Files, and I have a fondness for Krycek smut. (They don't call him the "little black dress of fandom" for nothing.) This story also has Jealous!Clark, and that's a good thing. It's a PWP, but the mental eye candy is so yummy, it works for me. Fandom: HIGHLANDER/ANGEL Pairing: Duncan MacLeod/Methos/Angel (oh my) Author on LJ: pat_tAuthor Website:http://taterville.com/Why this must be read: This is a favorite of mine in the crossover realm. Angelous is back with a touch of Dark Duncan all to amuse Methos. It's smutty, it dark and it's a bloody good time. Dark Christmas

Fandom: FARSCAPE Pairing: John Crichton/Aeryn Sun Author on LJ: thassalia Author Website: none Why this must be read: Thea's fic is always rich in characterization, mood, and the little details of setting and atmosphere that make her worlds live and breathe, and those who inhabit them real beings--flesh and blood, and flawed. Thea's smutfic completely shatters conventional notions of PWP. The sexuality smolders, but it's the sensuality of the mind--the intelligence with which Thea writes her characters, and that she bestows upon them--that arouses and proves to be eminently satisfying. Fandom: FARSCAPE/FIREFLY Pairing: Aeryn Sun, Mal Reynolds Author on LJ: thassaliaAuthor Website: none Why this must be read: My best friends are Browncoats. I, however, am not... at least, not yet. But if there is one thing that might lure me to the Serenity side, it would be this crossover fic by Thea, written for Multiverse 2004. Thea's Mal is down on his luck but irrepressible, witty, decent and strong; her Aeryn is desperately controlled and determined, iron-willed but with an unextinguishable compassion despite dire circumstances. By the end of this fabulous fic--chock full of action, angst, reflection, humor, and hope--I'd fallen for a new 'ship. ( Excerpt ) Crosses and Naughts
