Fandom: Queer As Folk:US
Pairing: Brian/Justin
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] _alantie
Author Website: [livejournal.com profile] _meansfallen
Why this must be read:

Mix in an amazing sex scene, a dash of insight into the Justin/Brian relationship, add a bit Justin gloating and you get a hot PWP that must be read.

"Quadruple digits, Brian. You've probably fucked me more than the total number of guys you've done," Justin breathed into his ear, small bites on the lobe to punctuate his words.

09:16 am Imposters in This Country by Minim Calibre (R)
Hi, I'm Maren and I'm excited to be driving BtVS this month. I'm a lover of all things Buffy (the character), and enjoy fics that explore Buffy's interactions with others, particularly unconventional pairings. The recs I have planned for this month will predominantly feature Buffy in UC pairings/situations, with one or two conventional or gen pieces thrown in. I hope you find something that you enjoy.

Fandom: BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER
Pairing: Buffy/Wesley
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] minim_calibre
Author Website: Recalibration
Why this must be read:

In this fic, Minim makes one change in Becoming Part II canon and then explores the impact on Buffy and her new Watcher, Wesley on an extended road trip. The Buffy in Imposters is hardened, a little cold, and lot weary-- much more Wishverse even though it isn't set in the Wishverse. The Wesley starts young, raw, and uptight and the beauty of this fic is the way that Minim shows him changing, organically, as a result of the time he spends with Buffy.

What's to love? Road trip, great evolving characterization based on tightly described interactions, and yes, illicit sex. This is my favorite Buffy/Wesley fic in a field of really well-done fic.

11:21 am The Archer by legomyarrow (NC-17)
Hiya *waves* [livejournal.com profile] denyce36 here & I’m definitely excited to be driving the van for lotrips this month. As I started to go through the list of what was already recommended and what hasn’t I discovered a slew of my personal favorites haven’t been, so that’s what I’ll be recommending this month. So look for a mix bag of AU, hobbits/elf, and men for your reading pleasure, hopefully you’ll find a few as enjoyable and worthy as I do :-)

Fandom: LOTRIPS
Pairing: Multiple pairings between: Viggo, Orlando, Sean B, Karl, Dominic, Eric Bana, & Dave
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] legomyarrow
Author Website:archived at Mirromeme http://avia.silverbloom.net/mirror/viewuser.php?uid=298
Why this must be read: First let's start with the summary: Six covert operatives are ordered to track down and eliminate a rogue agent called the Archer. Spies, traitors, and explosives...

If that doesn't intrigue you let me just add a few things--great dialog, a thick twisting plotline, humor, mystery, & sex. The Archer is lusciouly long and complete. With an added prequel 'Wilderness of Mirrors' and an immediate sequel of 'The Flag' with a longer sequel is in the works, but (prequel/sequels) were written after the Archer was complete and can stand alone. Be prepared for one long delicious adventuerous rollercoaster of a ride.

06:15 pm Ray Is Not Actually Graphing...by sprat (NC-17)
Fandom: DUE SOUTH
Pairing: RayK/Fraser
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] sprat
Author Website: Sprat's due South and Stargate Atlantis Fic
Why this must be read:

This fic was written about a month ago, and it makes me so happy. I have a soft spot for stories from RayK's point of view, because he has such an interesting and unique voice. That causes me some trouble though, because due to the uniqueness of his voice, if it's done wrong, it's really obvious and really painful. This fic is an example of Ray done right. In it, Ray charts the evolution of his relationship with Fraser, using a line graph as a visual for the audience (yes, there's an actual line graph. Yes, it works perfectly). There's awkwardness and miscommunication, and while Ray gets understandably frustrated with the whole thing, his affection for Fraser shines through. Just look down at the whole title of this fic. If that isn't RayK, then I don't know what is.

So go read. It's funny, sexy and realistic.

Ray Is Not Actually Graphing The History Of His Relationship With Fraser--That Would Be Pathetic, And Ray Is Not Pathetic--But If He Was Graphing It, Even Just In His Own Stressed-Out, Messed-Up Brain, It Might Look Something Like This

08:15 pm Protective Coloration by Graculus (PG-13)
Fandom: STARGATE SG1
Pairing: Jack/Daniel
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] graculus
Author Website: The Grotto
Why this must be read:

This has just been released for online from the zine Pretense 2. I read it in the zine and am pleased to be able to share it with you. It is a wonderful story of when Jack and Daniel have decided to get together and how it affects their closest at the SGC. Graculus has their voices so perfect, and the story is beautiful without being too angsty.

08:50 pm Rags by Jill Selby (PG-13)
Fandom: X-FILES
Pairing: non/gen - this is a case file
Author on LJ: none
Author Website: appears to be down
Why this must be read: Because this is a brilliant case file, and was Jill's first story (continuing my theme of first-time greats). This was an utterly amazing debut story and was a great read to boot. THIS was the sort of story we hoped we'd see on the television screen each week. Great Mulder/Scully partner interaction and a mystery that hooks you from the very beginning.

Go, read, and enjoy. Rags

09:35 pm A Little Piece of Mistletoe by LH (PG-13?)
Well, let's get this show on the road! A few days later than I'd hoped, but I'm here and already enjoying myself. :) I just hope you all enjoy it, too! ;) Feel free to slap me on the wrist if I do/say something wrong. I'm just a teensy bit insecure like that sometimes.

Fandom: THE PROFESSIONALS
Pairing: Bodie/Doyle
Author on LJ: Not that I could find
Author Website: Again, not that I could find
Why this must be read:

I'm probably jumping the gun a bit with a Christmas story as my first rec in December, but I just couldn't resist. Maybe it's those Monday blues, but this made me smile all over again, and, when I saw it hadn't been recced before, I just had to go for this one.

It's Christmas, a time for being with the ones you love and taking time to reflect. Except, things aren't going to plan for Doyle this year. Stuck at a party whilst his significant other is being monopolised by an ex, Doyle's thoughts turn a little gloomy. This is such a sweet and realistic fic, though, and it really captures those emotions which we can't help feeling, even though we argue ourselves round in circles as to why we shouldn't let them get the better of us, however slightly. Like jealousy and doubt.

Overall, the story flows smoothly, the plot is handled fantastically, and the characters are simply wonderful to watch and listen to.

10:30 pm Infatuation by MissAnnThropic (PG)
Fandom: FARSCAPE
Pairing: John Crichton, Scorpius (gen, despite any implications of the title)
Author on LJ: unknown
Author Website: MissAnnThropic
Why this must be read:

I promised you some character pieces, and this is a fabulous fic set during 3.20/3.21, Into the Lion's Den. This two-part episode featured the climactic showdown between John Crichton, Human quarry, and the unshakable nemesis of his every waking moment: the Scarran/Sebacean hybrid scientist, Scorpius.

MissAnnThropic takes us - ironically enough - inside Scorpius' head, managing a brilliant first-person POV that resounds with authenticity. The character is richly drawn, fully realized, menacing and lonely and vulnerable and relentless and underneath it all, the tiniest, merest bit regretful that his relationship with Crichton will forever remain adversarial... yet the realization doesn't hinder Scorpius' ability to savor the cat-and-mouse mind game that is the hallmark of every interaction between them.

MissAnnThropic treats Scorpius as the impossibly complex quasi-villain Farscape's writers envisioned him to be, and for that reason alone, for avoiding the opposing cliches of utterly evil/completely misunderstood caricatures that all-too-often masquerade as Scorpius in fic, this story should be read.

He’s under my skin, in my thoughts, and I know I inhabit his. )

11:17 pm Slip Through Your Fingers by kerlin (PG-13)
Fandom: Battlestar Galactica 2003
Pairing: Adama/Roslin
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] kerlin
Author Website: Midnight Graffiti
Why this must be read: One of the opening details of the new BSG universe is that Laura Roslin, the surprise successor to the presidency of the Twelve Colonies, is dying of cancer and [livejournal.com profile] kerlin follows that to a logical conclusion. This short story delicately draws a scene several years in the future when Roslin's battle is coming to an end and Adama comes to make his goodbyes. Truly bittersweet.
