Fandom: SUPERNATURAL Pairing: Dean/other Author on LJ: witchofthedogsAuthor Website: none found Why this fic must be read: This fic blew my mind away. The writing is beautiful; I've read it three times so far, and my love for it grows with each reading. This fic takes the "deal with the devil" theme and turns it into a deeply intense and unsettling explanation of the origins of good and evil and how the devil came to be the enemy of God. Witchofthedog's version of Dean will go to any length to protect Sam, including standing up to the devil himself. This is exactly how I see Dean reacting to a situation--putting his brother's safety ahead of his own. The Good Son

Title: It's All About SurvivalFandom: Star Trek: The Original Series Pairing: Kirk/Chapel Author on LJ: As far as I know, Djinn isn't. Author Website: Djinn's LairWhy this must be read:I'll never ever get tired of reading Djinn's fic. Few writers can consistently get me to read pairing I've never been interested in before (such as her Spock/Chapel stories) and fewer still can convert me to liking a paiiring based on the power of their work but Djinn managed it quite soundly with Kirk/Chapel. One of my favorite things about her work is the fact that she doesn't just focus on the five year mission, she plays with a lot of time periods from the Enterprise's mission and one of her favorites seems to be the Lost Years and immediately following the first movie. It's one of the things I love about her work and even more so because of the characterizations. This is a Jim and Christine that are more than caricatures. They're people and you get a sense of their lives through the settings and words Djinn uses. This is a prime example of that. In fact, I'd encourage you to read all of Djinn's trek fic, it's more than worth your time. It's All About Survival

Fandom: HOUSE Pairing: multiple Greg House pairings, one per scenario Author on LJ: irenakAuthor Website: Why this must be read: I'm a sucker for "Five Things That Never Happened..." fic and this one works particularly well for me because we're given a glimpse of the could have beens with a variety of potential partners. In almost all instances, it's clear that - in the universe we know - House is his own worst enemy. Five Things That Never Happened to Gregory House

Fandom: HOUSE Pairing: House/Wilson Author on LJ: m_butterflyAuthor Website: The Butterfly FactoryWhy this must be read: From the beginning, Milkshake Butterfly established her ability to capture just what makes House/Wilson work. From Wilson's perspective, "Trivial Pursuits" is a perfect study of their dynamic and how the transition from friendship to lovers is a natural progression for these two. Fandom: Harry Potter Pairing: Remus/Sirius Author on LJ: throughadoorAuthor Website: obsessivetendencies.net/door Why this must be read: Call it Remus Lupin and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Call it True Love in a SHACK: The Fan Fiction.Call it a kick-ass story that re-tracks the entire PoA book from Remus' perspective. The scope of this novella is intense and so impressive. kel takes us from the moment before Remus learns that Sirius has escaped from prison to the end of his tenure at Hogwarts, and everything in between. If Vector was a, like, the perfect morning danish, this story is more like thick stew on a cold winter's evening. It's filling and thorough and settles something in you that you didn't realize was jarred. Anyway, enough with the bad analogies. Read the story! The headline was his name again, same as every day for the last week, and Remus could almost, almost look at the photo they'd been running for three days now. Nothing new to report, really, except that Fudge had told the Muggle Prime Minister, a measure that hadn't been taken since the days of Voldemort.
The rest was all re-hash, and Remus knew the circumstances far too well, so he moved to push the paper aside. He glanced at the date in the top corner of the front page, and there was a nagging feeling like it should be familiar.
And then he remembered that it was Harry's birthday, James and Lily's son, it was his birthday.I go from day to day

Fandom: MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. Pairing: Napoleon Solo/Illya Kuryakin Author on LJ: not that I know of Author Website: nil Why this must be read: While exploring an abandoned dumbwaiter in his penthouse apartment, Napoleon discovers he can observe Illya living a few floors below. Innocent curiosity about his partner's reclusive habits leads to obsessive voyeurism as Napoleon finds himself saddened by Illya's isolation, and aroused by Illya's energetic masturbation sessions. He begins to wonder if Illya could use a little help...while Illya becomes increasingly suspicious about the strange noises coming from behind the walls. Sizzling and funny and touching, with some wonderful witty dialogue during the much-anticipated denouement. Curiosity may have killed the cat, but Napoleon proves to be more nimble than the average feline. The Back Door Affair

Fandom: QUEER AS FOLK: US Pairing: Brian/Justin Author on LJ: jane2005Author Website: none, that i know of. but here are her fics on bjfic.net. Why this must be read:Why must this be read besides the fact that it's by Jane? It's a fun AU. Justin is even more of a spoiled brat than on the show. Brian's decided to take a break from his life, and he's gotten himself a job on... Ethan's yacht. Justin is Ethan's boytoy, and Brian meets what appears to be ultimate!princess!Justin, and he doesn't like him much. I'm sure you can guess where things would go from there. Especially what with the NC-17 rating and all. :O) So go forth! Read, and enjoy. Oh, and leave feedback while you're there. Swept Away

Fandom: QUEER AS FOLK: US Pairing: Brian/Justin Author on LJ: suzvoyAuthor Website: She just calls it "Queer as Folk", but I noticed I have it labeled in my favorites as "Queer as Suz".Why this must be read:It's sort of an AU, but not really. She messed with the timeline a bit, but considering how much the show's creators mess with the timelines, that doesn't mean anything. It's a post 309 fic, and it's one of my favorite fics ever. Suz writes the snappiest Justin and Brian, and gives their relationship such spunk ('scuse the pun) that it's nothing less than pure joy to read. So if you wondered what Brian got for Justin for his 20th birthday after his disastrous gift for Justin's 19th, this is the place to find out. And if you didn't wonder, well, you should, and you should read this. And if you have no idea who I'm talking about when I say "Brian and Justin", well, then, you absolutely have GOT to read this, because you're totally missing out. Sky of Blue and Sea of Green

Fandom: QUEER AS FOLK: US Pairing: Brian/Justin Author on LJ: valereixAuthor Website: The Holy Church of Brian and JustinWhy this must be read:Well, it's the funniest fic that ever funningly ficced a funnessly ficcing fun fic. That's why. Brian's bored. It's just after S3, and he's got nothing to do. So he tries this new disco drug called Bliss that Emmett raves about. And he winds up in the hospital. But not for the reasons you might think. Blissed

Fandom: STAR WARS Pairing: Qui-Gon/Anakin, Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan (UST) Author on LJ: quigonejinnAuthor Website: None found. Why this must be read: Because this is another one of those truly memorable stories. It has a lovely, dark take on the alternate universe idea of "What if Qui-Gon had lived to train Anakin?", all from Obi-Wan's POV. Full of despair that will choke you and a tight sense of loss, this story is another one of those that will punch you in the gut, and trust me, despite the title, there's no lack of desire on the part of any of the characters.
