Why this must be read: There's a fine line between true PWP and fics that bring the hot (or in this case, the dirtybadwronghot) while still exploring the characters and their relationships in a meaningful way.

I admit to a bias for this story because it was written for me, but without that, I'd still rec it for it's exploration of the triangle between the brothers Petrelli and Claire Bennet. The two biggest ships of the fandom are arguably Peter/Nathan and Peter/Claire and the combination of the two (again, in smoking hot prose) brings out interesting intersections of need, want and obsession.

12:28 pm Paradigm Shift Series by rebecca (NC17)
Hi, I'm [livejournal.com profile] rositamia and I get to rec my Tony! Or in other words, for people not as obsessed as me, NCIS! It's my first time reccing here and I am soooo excited. And scared half to death! I love everyone on the show; it's truly an ensemble show for me. Except I have an inordinate amount of love for Tony. Huuuuge! So I am very much a Gibbs/DiNozzo slasher. But I know that not everyone else is, so I am going to rec some stories that showcase the other characters too. Maybe even some het! < gasp > But I also want to show the wonder that is a well-written Gibbs/DiNozzo, so you'll be seeing some (well, okay, maybe a lot) of those.

Fandom: NCIS
Pairing: Jethro Gibbs/Tony DiNozzo

Why this must be read: I am *really* bad at this part; usually all I can come up with is because "it's good!", but I will definitely try to articulate *why* it's good.
It's a long, plotty story that I really enjoyed reading. I like the look inside Gibbs' head. And inside Tony's. It seems true to the characters. I like the slow, careful maneuvering between Tony and Gibbs; that too seems so *them*. And the dialogue *sounds* right to me. I like how cases are threaded through the stories; makes it more "realistic" to me. I really like Tony's backstory. And I liked the descriptive language the author used.

Why this must be read:

Because damn does she have a good handle on the character of Jack Harkness! This is technically part 2 of a series of stories describing how Jack got from Satellite 5 to Torchwood, but you don't need to have read part 1. (I know, because I read this part first ::grin::). It's a great character exploration and a good spooky story in its own right. Her original characters are fabulous and well-developed throughout the course of the previous story and this one.

09:05 pm The Care and Feeding of Wilsons by iridaceaena (PG-13)
Fandom: HOUSE M.D.
Pairing: In the author’s words, “House/Wilson friendship with a ridiculous amount of innuendo”
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] iridaceaena

Why this must be read: A fun play on how House (mis)treats Wilson, this fic is sure to induce laughter, chuckling or at least a smile. The premise: House writes a pet owner’s manual about--you guessed it--the proper care and feeding of Wilsons. Most of the segments in this tongue-in-cheek instruction book (Housing, Feeding, Grooming, Training...) are followed by dialogue-only exchanges between House and Wilson as House conducts research and Wilson sputters. Great idea, great character voices, great House-writing voice, lots of great lines, and a bonus Cuddy cameo at the end.

To put it another way: How can you not want to try a fic that contains a section entitled “Visually Sexing a Wilson”?

Excerpt:

Training is actually where most Wilson owners really screw it up. Training sessions should be relatively brief but frequent; Wilsons get bored when they feel like they aren't being challenged. Also, most people will use positive reinforcement to get the Wilson to obey their commands. Most people are idiots. Wilsons get so much positive reinforcement from the world in general based on outward appearance and status that they really aren't all that interested in performing tricks just to get a little more.
