Fandom: THE X-FILES
Pairing: Mulder/Krycek
Author on LJ: Not to my knowledge.
Author Website: Not to my knowledge.
Why this must be read:

This massive novel is without a doubt, hands down, no questions asked, one of the most impressive pieces of fanfiction I've ever read. It is that rare thing, a story of how Mulder and Krycek go from enemies to lovers that is completely credible from start to finish - no glossing over, no white-washing, no rose-coloured glasses; just the truth of who these men are, what they have done to each other and what they want in their hearts. The romance is beautiful, moving, sad, funny, painful, violent, gentle, sexy and, above all, right, and, as if that's not enough, it's wrapped in a skillfully crafted plot safely grounded in the X-Files mytharc and featuring a full cast of the shows important characters.

While this is a story about Mulder falling in love with Krycek, it is also, as any great story told from Mulder's perspective should be, a tale of his love for Scully. It's at heart about three people, not two, and each of them is portrayed with affection and insight, with all their flaws and graces, heroic strengths and human frailties. Ladyluck achieves one of the most complex and, I think, accurate depictions in existence of the tangle of emotions that makes up the dynamic between Mulder and the people he can't live without. It's gorgeously done, it's exciting, it's riveting, and you're not going to want to stop reading until you reach the end.

This is fanfiction at its very best. Don't miss out on it.

Fandom: DC COMICS
Characters/Pairing[s]: Batman/Robin (Tim Drake, Carrie Kelley; others prominently mentioned)

Why this must be read:

Hi. I'm [livejournal.com profile] rubynye, and I'll be reccing for DC Comics for the month of June.

When compiling my recs for this month I had to include a Batman/Robin story, because I'm like that, and this story, like all my favorite Batman/Robin stories, is about how that pairing changes, and doesn't change, as different people take on those roles. Also, this story features Carrie Kelley, and her utter devotion to being Batman's Robin, but gives her a Batman whom I think, anyway, deserves her better.

However, Carrie isn't the only Robin Tim has had. And that fact and its ramifications form another reason why this story must be read.

(All that, and Te's Advanced Fanwanking Skills make the setup of the "Titans Tomorrow" arc make *sense*.)

Why this must be read:

Hi, I'm [livejournal.com profile] thelast_spagirl, and I'll be reccing for ER this month.

For years the AbLuCar love triangle swallowed up the ER fandom, and this is not only a piece of gorgeous writing but one of the most clear-headed and insightful explorations of these three characters that I've ever seen, with Susan rounding out a quadrangle of sorts.

This story will change your conceptions of the terms "Carby" and "Luby." (It's also followed by an equally, perhaps more, fantastic sequel called Things Behind the Sun.

09:48 pm Sure as Eggs is Eggs by Doyle (G)
Fandom: DOCTOR WHO
Pairing: None

Why this must be read:

This funny and in character fic is a charming coda to the first series episode Boomtown, with the Ninth Doctor, Rose and Jack taking the egg that was Blon Slitheen to her new life.

"Hello," he said. "I'm the Doctor. This is Rose Tyler, Jack Harkness, and this," he put the egg on the desk, balancing it against the computer screen, "is an egg."

The receptionist looked at it. Then he - or she - looked at the Doctor. Then he or she - possibly it - gave a very slow sideways blink.

"The hat's to stop her tentacles from getting cold," he said helpfully.

Why this must be read:

*waves* Hi! I am [livejournal.com profile] sansets and I am your Heroes reccer for the month of June. I read and enjoy many pairings, both 'cesty and non-cest, so I hope to be reccing a little something for everyone this month.

I am starting out with this wonderfully distopic future. They saved the cheerleader, but once the world learned of the existence of those with abilities, they turned on them. Peter and Nathan fled to Mexico, and are trying to re-start their lives in hiding. There are so many wonderful parts of this fic that I don't even know where to begin. [livejournal.com profile] mandysbitch starts with beautifully quiet desperation, and moves through a story that ends with an equally beautifully quiet hope.
