07:02 am I Still Believe Series by Dasha (NC-17)
Fandom: THE SENTINEL
Pairing: Jim/Blair
Author on LJ: dashamte
Author Website: Dasha at Cascade Library
Why this must be read:
For anyone who is wondering, this is why there have been so few posts this month. Hopefully this won't put me too far over the story limit, but every story in this series is worth rec'ing.

This may be my favorite TS series. Jim and Blair find that a Sentinel really can't survive long term in a major city and move to a small town in rural Washington. The premise is intriguing and well thought out, the stories are quiet (at least for The Sentinal fandom, which tends towards the melodramatic) and beautifully written, and the plots explore an aspect of Jim and Blair's relationship that I think the show seriously short-changed: how do two people learn to live together for years, especially when one is a Sentinel? Add in a bevy of interesting and well developed OCs (Miss Lillian is my hero), hurt/comfort and angst galore, and a thought-provoking examination of Sentinels, Guides, and relationships, and you have the must-read series of the fandom.

Stories (in chronological order for series timeline):
Iceberg
I Still Believe
Pilgrimage
The First Annual Dorset County Folk Music Festival
The Greater Public Good
On the Way Home
Obscure Music

09:25 am Tony's Apartment by Devix (PG)
Fandom: NCIS
Pairing: None
Author on LJ: N/A
Author Website: N/A
Why this must be read: With a light but authoritative hand, Devix sketches a portrait of DiNozzo that will resonate with anyone who sees beyond his fratboy persona. Unlike most character sketches that deal with the hurt little boy inside DiNozzo, this one stays well away from the overwrought, woe-is-me navel-gazing that many writers find hard to resist. It's a quiet, but powerful piece. Nicely underwritten with soft pastel descriptions and subtle but strong emotion.

The apartment came furnished.

It's modern. All clean lines and glass and stainless steel. It's not where he imagined he'd be living, but the rent is good, and the neighborhood is good, and the super's nice, and he likes his neighbors, and it's close to the office.

09:50 am Totally Cool by Sister Golden Hair (R)
Fandom: Hockey RPS
Characters/Pairing[s]: Ryan Hollweg/Jaromir Jagr
Author on LJ: sistrgoldenhair
Author Website: nope
Why this must be read:

Ok seriously. Hockey fangirls (and boys) love nothing more than our lippy 'role player'. Thats the name we give to the guy that plays on the third lines and annoys the hell out of the opposition.

When he's on our team he's a character guy who keeps the team honest, when he's on the other team he's, well the nicest word is 'pest'. Anyway, a character guy is typically a grinder, (seriously hockey has a player sometimes even a whole line called 'grinders'. I love my sport) a mucker, a loud mouth and a fan favourite.

Any way, when the grinder meets the franchise player and they get naked you hope sparks will fly in a happy, cheerful, porny way like goldenhair describes here.

Fandom: Heroes
Pairing: Mohinder/Mira, Mohinder/OMC
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] raihon
Author Website: N/A
Why this must be read:

Because this is a very compelling back story for our beloved Mohinder. Because Heroes really rocks on creating compelling one-shot characters and Mira is no exception. And also because it has one of the best Mohinder voices I've ever read!

11:09 pm Snorkeling Towards Ecstasy by Thea [NC-17]
Fandom: FARSCAPE
Pairing: John and Aeryn

Author Website: Leviathan
or Thea's memories

Why this must be read:
I seem to be on a John and Aeryn frelling kick. Well, it could be worse. ;)

Thea always writes damn hot sex, and this story is filled with prime examples of it. But there's more than just sex, there's John and Aeryn in perfect voice, there's frustration and reality and the fact that in the Farscape 'verse nothing's ever easy except when it is.
