Fandom: SHERLOCK HOLMES
Pairing: Holmes/Watson
Author on LJ: spikejem
Author Website: http://community.livejournal.com/cox_and_co/132785.html
Why this must be read:

In the beginning was the comic, and the comic was the absolutely hilarious Dr. Watson's Inner Monologue, by elina kivimaki and harriet kaarre. And then, spikejem wrote a drabbles' serie: Sherlock Holmes' Inner Monologue
This serie is a wonderful, funny, romantic, a tinny little bit angsty companion piece for the wonderful, funny, romantic, a tinny little bit angsty comic. Need I say it's slash? Ok, it IS slash. Of course, you must read it, but each drabble is linked with its comic bit, so, you're gonna be able to have a simultaneous experience, both POV's at same time =D
This link is gonna take you to spikejem's post in cox_and_co where she linked all her entries.
Go, go now, read it, laugh, and tell the authors how much you enjoy it!

Why this must be read:

Evan is one of the very newest writers to join the UNCLE fandom (although he's not new to writing as such, having already produced great fic for a diverse range of fandoms) and he immediately made an impact. His style is unmistakable – economical, witty, packed with great turns of phrase and snarky dialogue – and his characterisation an absolute delight. One of the things I enjoy most about his stories is the way he doesn't restrict himself to one view of the characters (his Baker's Dozen, which has already been recced, is a terrific example of this, where he rings the changes on the range of possible relationships between Napoleon and Illya in a virtuoso manner). As he himself says, “It's fun to see how much wiggle room there actually is within the essential framework of canon.” “The Blind Eye Affair” showcases all of Evan's talents for humour and quirky characterisation, whilst dealing with an essentially serious theme.

Manacled together and fleeing from Thrush in the wilds of the Mid-West, Napoleon and Illya are forced to take refuge with Napoleon's cousin, who up till now has believed he is an investment banker. A night of revelations follows...

Hi! I'll rec Torchwood this month. I'm a big Ianto fan so the main focus will be on stories featuring that character.

Fandom: TORCHWOOD
Pairing: Ianto/Jack, team
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] mandysbitch
Author Website: None
Why this must be read:

"Jack returns" is a plot that has been done more than once, most of the time it ends up being an angry return or Jack is welcomed with open arms. Both can work really well, but this story is different. Jack returns and his team hasn't gone crazy without him - they've just gone on without too much trouble. And it works.

The team drunk is just a very charming image, and - surprisingly enough - so is Jack taking care of a puking Ianto. And while the story is very light and funny it includes some serious moments as well without destroying the mood of the fic.
