Hallo all *waves* My name is [profile] meredydd_rossand I'll be driving the Supernatural Van for this month. Since I tend to avoid the whole incest issue that Supernatural Slash presents, if you want slash you're pretty much out of luck for this month, sorry. I tend towards fics that focus on either more minor characters, or funny one-shots as a habit, or present an outsiders view on what seeing the boys in action would be like. So, lets get this Van rolling!

Fandom: SUPERNATURAL
Pairing: None, gen
Length: Short, One shot
Author on LJ: [personal profile] holli
Author Website: Lovesetfire
Why this must be read:

Because, as the authors summary says, Some Goth teenagers accidentally resurrect John Winchester. No, seriously. This fic is written perfectly from an outsiders point of view, and her thoughts on seeing the absolute insanity that is the Winchesters's daily lives. Also? Funny as hell , nearly fell out of my chair the first time I read it. Written a bit after the Season 2 episode Nightshifters to give you an idea of the timeframe.

But really, go read!

Hey hey, I'm a van-driver this month for Smallville fic goodness.
Gotta share'em all!

Fandom: SMALLVILLE
Pairing: Clark/Lex
Rating: PG-13
Length: Medium-Short
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] artemisraine
Author Website:
Why this must be read:

Well, first off: bobble-heads. Gotta love 'em. Unless you're a bald billionaire and you're looking at a custom one of you and your big bald head -- which your big dumb alien boyfriend got custom made as an amusing present and who thinks it's the Best Thing Ever.

This is the stuff of light comedy and Artemis pulls every bit of whimsy from this premise, elevating it to frequent hilarity. We commiserate with a semi-doofus Clark Kent who is so sure of his gift choice that he thinks the cold-shouldered recipient is being rather ungrateful. We empathize with a Luthor who can't quite comprehend how his gorgeous and amazing alien lover could be so dense and insensitive.

It's Smallville's Lucy & Desi with the whole SV gang, and there's some 'splainin' to do before forgiveness ensues and cuddling resumes.

STATUS = highly recommended: perennial fave for re-reading and chuckle-fests.

Hi! I'm [livejournal.com profile] rositamia and I'm reccing NCIS this month. I am an avid Gibbs/DiNozzo OTPer, but I like all the other characters too so I'm hoping I'll have something for everyone.

Fandom: NCIS
Pairing: Jethro Gibbs/Anthony DiNozzo
Length: extremely long stories in the series
Author on LJ:
Author Website: Katherine's Fiction
Why this must be read:

This is an excellent series of stories. Well-rounded original characters. Good interaction between Gibbs and Tony. I like how this fleshes out a backstory for Tony and for Gibbs.

Hey there! I'm [livejournal.com profile] innocentsmith, and I'll be driving the van for Jeeves & Wooster this month. I love pretty much every fic ever posted in this fandom, so I'll be doing my best to give an allsorts mix. I may even at some point include a pairing other than Jeeves/Wooster. (*gasp!*) To get us into first gear, my opening rec is:

Fandom: JEEVES & WOOSTER
Pairing: Jeeves/Bertie Wooster
Length: ~900 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] flambeau
Author Website: http://www.strangeplaces.net/torch/
Why this must be read:

This little snippet of a fic captures the feeling of the canon: simultaneously delicate and hilarious, and suspended in a time and place that never was but really should've been. It's one of those "scene from a missing novel" kinds of fics, with just the slightest extra dash of UST. And of sheep.

'Jeeves,' I said, 'this is intolerable.' )

09:25 pm The End of Eschatology According to Fox Mulder by maidenjedi (R)
Hi! I'm driving the van for The X-Files this month. I mainly read MSR and gen, so that's what I'll be reccing - but I think my main task will be trying to avoid repeat recs...

Fandom: THE X-FILES
Pairing: Mulder/Scully
Length: one-shot
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] maidenjedi
Author Website: Uninvited
Why this must be read:

I thought I'd start it off with some brand spanking new stuff. With "X-Files 2" coming in less than three months, and lots of speculation about the state of Mulder and Scully's relationship, [livejournal.com profile] maidenjedi is one of the first to kick off the fic. This story (along with its Scully-POV companion) is a painful and realistic look at what could have happened to Mulder and Scully in the years after the series ended. What would they do if the world didn't need saving after all? But it's not just limited to Mulder and Scully - it's got Ma Scully, Skinner, and some others I won't spoil you for. Whether you'll be seeing the movie or not, this just needs to be read.

*clears throat* Hey there. My name is [livejournal.com profile] akamine_chan and I'm going to be your due South driver for the month.

This fandom has the most amazing writers around and I'm glad to be showcasing some of the best fics out there. I looked thorough the memories and tags for due South and was kinda surprised at what I found. Or, what I didn't find. Some of our fantastic active writers hadn't been recced. Ever.

Don't get me wrong, I love all the writers of this fandom, even the ones who've moved on. Their names (just to name a few) are familiar and cherished : [livejournal.com profile] cesperanza, [livejournal.com profile] kelliem, [livejournal.com profile] resonant8, [livejournal.com profile] aukestrel, [livejournal.com profile] thisisbone and [livejournal.com profile] cimmerians. These writers are part of the foundation of this fandom and they set the standard of what good writing should be. And if you haven't read the works of these authors, you really should.

But where are the [livejournal.com profile] dsudiss and [livejournal.com profile] hth_the_firsts of this "generation" of writers? They're here, busy writing, and I'm going to show you how brilliant they are.

I had two criteria in selecting the fics to rec: the author had to be someone who hadn't ever been recced for due South here at the [livejournal.com profile] crack_van and they had to have written something in the last six months.

Let me start by introducing the shining star of our fandom, [livejournal.com profile] nos4a2no9.

Fandom: DUE SOUTH
Pairing: Benton Fraser/Ray Kowalski
Length: 2,905 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] nos4a2no9
Author Website: A Fish Out Of Water
Why this must be read: Because [livejournal.com profile] nos4a2no9 is a wonderfully talented writer, lyrical and expressive. She has an amazing skill at weaving the emotions in her stories, capturing the soul of the characters and breathing life into them. She's not afraid to break her characters, realizing that sometimes they just can't be fixed.

I had a hard time choosing just one of [livejournal.com profile] nos4a2no9's stories to rec - they are all wonderful.

This one is special. This one has gained quite a reputation in the fandom and we tease her endlessly about it. But I still cry every time I read it, at the heart-wrenching beauty of it, the realism and hope and determination.
